FNC Contributor jokes about Obama Assassination?
FOX Contributor Liz Trotta puts her foot in it… (via The Huffington Post)
Update: Johnny Dollar tries to debunk the quote as being taken out of context. I’m not so sure.
I’ve now seen the whole interview and I still can’t categorically say Trotta didn’t joke about assassinating both Osama and Obama. Eric Shawn’s comment about “Talk about how you really feel.” doesn’t help any because there’s no context to it. Is he directing it to Trotta? Or someone else? We can’t tell. But lacking any clarification it would not be out of the realm of the unrealistic to think he was directing it at Trotta. Which, in my book, again puts the onus back on Trotta to explain herself.
The problem is Trotta, regardless of whether she really was making her true feelings known or not, made a joke when she should have said, “My mistake” and then Eric Shawn, with his quip, poured gasoline on the fire Trotta just lit. And there has been nothing since to correct the record. To be continued, I’m sure…
Update 2: Trotta apologizes…

Spud, thou doth post without proper research.
You must check out the FULL story over at J$’s… then you can see the parts of the story that have been (let’s say…) selectively edited out!

(Short story: She wasn’t talking about HER wanting to do that, she was referencing the Hillary Clinton gaffe… and the much quoted line was cut up midsentence to ‘encourage’ a particular POV. Sad, indeed.)
(PS- Sorry if this double posts… first one didn’t seem to take.)

Despite the apologists at Johnny Dollar, and elsewhere, it is clear that Trotta was making an aside that was personal. She was straying from her commentary and using the first-person plural (“both if we could”) to distinguish the remark from her references to Clinton. Otherwise Trotta would have said “she” and likely would not have laughed gleefully at the notion.

On a completely separate matter…your site is turning some closing parens into smilies. (I think…)

Probably. I’ll see if I can shut off smilies…

I think she apologized for something with Hemmer today. I didn’t see what she said, just came in the room and heard like 5 seconds of something to do with Obama.
