Some juicy tidbits from the world of cable news today:
Hannity’s 1st “X factor” guest on his new show will be….Meat Loaf. Can’t wait for that insightful analysis.
Slimeball Shuster gets into a shoutfest with a guy who landed the Palin interview during which she rips the media. Not a shock that Shuster takes the anti-Palin approach and calls her “unqualified”.
Keep up the great unbiased journalism, Dave.
Tavis Smiley of PBS says it’s the media’s job to make Obama’s presidency great. Here I thought it was the media’s job to hold elected officials accountable, not to cheerlead them. I must have been too hungover during that part of Journalism 101.
I’m not much enamored of David Shuster, so don’t take this as a direct defense of him. More in the abstract, how unqualified for high office does one have to be before a journalist can point it out? The modern interpretation of journalism seems to be absolute neutrality at all times, which is not the traditional definition of objectivity. A good reporter is supposed to tell you when something is something.
In the case of Sarah Palin, I don’t think you have to dislike her to observe that her grasp of issues a president has to graple with was left wanting, rendering her under-qualified to take over the big job if required to. I think it’s also fair to say she had a confidence in her abilities that made her unconcerned about the lack thereof, which could have become a big problem in high office.
BR, don’t worry about Tavis Smiley. He’s into the sound of his own voice, big time.
Imus interviewed former President George Herbert Walker Bush, about the launch of the Navy’s Nuclear Aircraft Carrier named in his honor, the George H W Bush.

Hey BR, check out a re-air of Hardball today for a different perspective on Palin. That Mathews sure likes a pretty face.
