I’m not around a TV during the day, so I”m just wondering what the coverage of Bush’s final p.c. has been like, esp. his admission of mistakes & defending Katrina.
I’m sure an Olbermoron “Worst Person” or “Special-ed comment” are in the works.
Chris Mathews said it was “the most exciting press conference in a long time.” He expressed his own disapointment that Bush did not turn out to be the president he said he would be during the 2000 campaign. I was struck by the genuine affection Mathews has for the guy. He obviously voted for him in 2000 and slowly turned away as the years went on, a transformation regular Hardball viewers watched in real time.
BR, I’ve watched Hardball almost every day since way back when the show was called Politics. Chris Mathews was very impressed with Bush, and not too thrilled with Gore. By the time Bill Clinton short-circuited his presidency due to his selfishness, Mathews seemed fed up with his party and ready for a change. Not unlike where he ended up in 2008, come to think of it.
I know it’s fashionable to think of all MSNBCers as Bush bashers now, but Chris Mathews was a vocal supporter of W for a long time. It used to drive me crazy.
Chris Matthews has explicitly stated that he voted for Bush in 2000. I tend to believe him based on the ridiculous mancrush he had on him through 2003. It was disgusting.
I read Mathews book and he says that deep in his heart (not his brain, according to him) he has always been a Democrat. I’m 90% sure he wrote that he voted for Gore. He was one of Clinton’s biggest moral critics and back then he called it like it is. I think he released this particular book around 7 or 8 years ago. His transformation to the lunatic left with full fledge Bush derangement syndrome has been a spectacle.

Morning Joe was interviewing Freeland this morning. Some fireworks.

Joe, I highly doubt the lifelong Dem Matthews ever voted for Bush.

I didn’t watch back then……then again, I don’t know….. but I’ll take your word for it.
I’m just surprised, given that Matthews has worked Tip O’Neil & others and vocally supported the Dems for a long time.

Rachel Maddow did an excellent deconstruction of Bush’s ludicrous press conference this evening. Is it Jan. 20th yet?
