I would not be posting this message if our cable and print journalists were for filling their job of being skeptical of our government and asking tough questions. However, they are too busy literally cheering Obama today during his visit to the Washington Post. The adulation and submission is unprecedented and unprofessional to say the least.
So why is Obama nominating such flawed individuals? For example, Eric Holder for Attorney general. During the Clinton Administration he recommended a pardon of Mark Rich a notorious fugitive billionaire that made his money trading arms with Iran and evading millions in taxes.
What the heck could he have been thinking? Could the 5 million Denise Rich (x wife) gave the Democrats and the library have anything to do with it? Do we all have such short memories?
Now Mr. Holder says he s sorry. Again, it’s the “I’m a Democrat and it was just an honest mistake defense”. Give me a break, another learning experience I suppose!
President Obama, I call on you to nominate people without an ethically/legally challenged past. It should not be so tough to do!
You know the rules, L & J. If a conservative does something, they’re likely to be tarred and feathered, so to speak. Butif a lib does the same thing, it was an “honest mistake”, a “bump in the road”, “insignificant”, etc.
The way CNN included Gov. Palin on it’s lists of “scandals” last week was unbelievable. She was “guilty” of wearing (and returning) expensive clothing, paid for my donors, while the rest of the miscreants were all guilty of corrupt criminal activity!
(Note: Apparently CNN did remove Sarah from the listing, without explanation!)
Bill Richardson dropped out pretty fast, but it still makes one wonder about how he got as far as he did with Obama’s vaunted vetting system and lengthy questionnaire.
I was very impressed with Holder’s testimony, especially his assessment that we had been at war with terrorists longer than we realized, reaching back to the ’90s. I was also happy with his unequivocal statement that water-boarding is torture and torture is against the law. I don’t agree that the Marc Rich situation is an unforgivable mistake for such a qualified candidate. Whether Republican or Democrat, a President-elect has to choose from a pool of real people, most of whom have done something stupid somewhere.
That New York pilot kicked some aviation butt, eh? The combination of extraordinary bad luck (possible double bird strike) and miraculous recovery is amazing.
The fact that Marc Rich was #2 on the FBI’s most wanted list and got a pardon should remove this guy from any consideration.
But I have a bigger issue with Holder & pardons, and that’s of the FALN terrorists that he got off to help Hillary’s senate bid.
Of course, we can’t get the media to cover that aspect.
And joe, the Clinton administration was not at war with the terrorists. They viewed it as a criminal pursuit, not a war. And that approach failed miserably.
That was Holder’s point. The enemy was at war with us before we realized it, and Bush wasn’t any more aware of it than Clinton before 9/11. I just thought it was an honest statement.
Per the first comment in this thread: Howard Kurtz reports that the cheering outside The Washington Post for Obama was from spectators from other buildings on the street. Of course Drudge won’t correct that because he’s not a journalist, he just throws stuff at his site he hears in his ear.
He corrected it? Good for him, but he should have checked it out first. Kinda makes sense that the Post employees would have been the ones on the INside.

Joe, Drudge already had (not reporters) on his site by the time you posted this.
