The Factor Goes HD…sort of: Update…
Last night I thought that the Factor’s HD launch was a bit off. Today TVNewser fills in the details…
Inside Cable News first spotted this last night, but questioned why there was a discrepancy between The Factor in HD and other FNC shows which are true HD. Here’s the answer: expect to see Bill O’Reilly in full HD in about three months.
Truth be told J$ had the Factor HD launch first…

Wasn’t it Johnny Dollar (in the other thread) trying to “blame the lame” on Directv compression?
As a loyal Directv subscriber, I will expect a full and sincere apology from Mr. Dollar due to the mental anguish I suffered as a result of thinking my Satellite service was sub par!

Last night “Red Eye” was also in a different studio. Perhaps also part of a step-up to HD?

Red Eye is in a temporary set while their set is upgraded.

I do humbly apologize; it was never my intent to cause suffering or mental anguish. But just to correct: it wasn’t DTV compression (and lowering the birate) but rather their down-ressing the original signal (not exactly the same thing) that I was referring to. There was a lawsuit filed against them at one point but they have since launched new satellites. I haven’t had DTV for a couple of years now I don’t know if it’s still going on. The HD on The Factor varied and was not at its best when doing satellite interviews (some of the remotes did look like SD blown up), but in segments that were all in studio (like the first part of the B block) it looked as good to me as their other HD shows.

The remotes WILL look like SD blown up because they likely are SD. FNC can’t put HD cameras in every possible studio a guest will originate from.
Apology not accepted, btw. You’re going on the Not Hot list this week for sure…

NO!!!!
Please don’t put Mr. Dollar on the “not hot” list. I was only joking and think he was a “good sport” about me shining a spotlight on his error.

Ok, I won’t put Mr. Dollar on the Not Hot list. Instead I will substitute him with you for not recognizing a joke when you see it…
February 3, 2009 at 2:25 pm
Then again it was an inside joke so maybe I’ll put myself on the Not Hot list for punishing you for not recognizing an inside joke when you see it…

I was thinking about nominating you in advance for putting Dollar on there!
Hey, it sounds great though. I don’t recall any other commenter ever making the list..
But, if you change your mind.. I won’t be offended for being excluded from the highly viewed list.

‘Worst Commenter in the World’. Has a ring to it.
Of course, it would encourage competition–could make things interesting.

What? You took my off the NOT HOT list before I got to appear on it? Well if I can’t be NOT HOT then you should put “Heroes” on it; it’s really gone downhill.
February 3, 2009 at 3:29 pm
What do you mean “gone”? It jumped the Shark after season 1.
February 3, 2009 at 3:49 pm
“Heroes”? is that still on?

There was a Glenn Beck from last week in which he was interviewing Michelle Malkin, who was via satellite in Denver. Beck is in HD but when they went to Malkin it was stretched SD.

That shouldn’t have happened. Someone screwed up. They should have pillar boxed her video.

[...] The Factor went HD in February, I noted that it seemed “off”. The next day TVNewser reported that The Factor would be full HD in “three months”. Well it’s well past that [...]
