Low Blow…
Howard Kurtz takes a tweet dump on MSNBC…
Wait, MSNBC has some breaking news. WH unveils (sleeveless) portrait of Michelle and starts accepting intern applications. So much for Iraq
Everyone here knows how rough I can be but this is totally unfair. I reviewed the footage Kurtz was referring to and there is no “Breaking News” emphasis to either of those stories Tamron Hall relayed. And they lasted less than 30 seconds. There are things to beat MSNBC up over (and I have). This isn’t one of them. Not only is it insignificant, Kurtz incorrectly relays the details and makes the story into something it is not.

Welcome to Twitter. Do cable news people really need the ability to instantly blurt out the first thing that pops in their head? Imagine Chris Mathews on Twitter.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!
February 27, 2009 at 2:31 pm
That was a stupid thing to slam MSNBC for, when you’ve got a much better one from just last night, and those “tolerant” libs Olbermann and Garofolo. It’s hard to sink much lower than this.
Courtesy of newsbusters. First, they’re talking about former CNN anchor Daryn Kagan, who used to date Rush Limbaugh. Then they turn their liberal elitism toward Michael Steele……claiming he actually hates himself, and that’s why he’s Republican:
JANEANE GAROFALO: She dated him, so either she suffers from Stockholm Syndrome – a lot like Michael Steele, who’s the black guy in the Republican party who suffers from Stockholm Syndrome, which means you try and curry favor with the oppressor.
KEITH OLBERMANN: Yes, you talk about self-loathing.
GAROFALO: Yeah, and there’s, any female or person of color in the Republican party is struggling with Stockholm Syndrome.
Why not just come out and call him “Uncle Tom”?? Douchebags.

I think Olbermann got a boost in the ratings from the appearance of Garofalo. I liked the following line:
“But the type of female that does like Rush is the same type of woman that falls in love with prisoners. ”
Great stuff. Keep bringing it KO. Any argument there is a scarcity of material now that Bush is out of office is laughable.
February 27, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Garofalo was brilliant. I loved it.
February 27, 2009 at 3:46 pm
I see. So any minority who doesn’t share the political views of Olbermann, Garofolo, joeremi & elmo is “self-loathing”?
Brilliant. Douchebaggery all around.
February 27, 2009 at 4:10 pm
No, just any minority that supports the Republican Party.
February 27, 2009 at 5:59 pm
Yes, Big, of course racial generalizations and name-calling are always acceptable, indeed laudable, as long as said minority dares to disagree with liberals. There’s nothing inherently wrong with assuming that all black people should have the same political beliefs. Nothing suspect about that.
And if you think otherwise, then you, sir, are worse than Hitler.
February 27, 2009 at 7:31 pm
Very well said laurel. You liberals should be ashamed of yourselves, read your posts again that support this hate speech. Why all the hate of people who honestly and with good intention disagree with you. The assigning of motives out of thin air to Mr. Steele when you are not in his shoes is despicable!
I expected better of you Joe. You have had a reputation of being civil.
February 27, 2009 at 7:34 pm
Noooooooo not Hitler. For the record, I’m just pulling Red’s chain. Anyone who regularly uses the phrase douchebag has it coming. Garofalo was obviously over the top, but I got a kick out of it. Any gathering that would invite that douchebag “Joe the Plumber” deserves a skewering.
February 27, 2009 at 7:51 pm
Frankly, joe, I’m disappointed in you. I expected you would denounce with Olbermann and Garofolo said. Instead, you praised it.
I expected such from elmo. Not from you. And douchebaggery is an apt term for yours, and their behavior.
February 27, 2009 at 7:52 pm
L&J, I’m curious to hear your reaction to my analysis in the “Critiquing MSNBC’s Obama address” thread, specifically pertaining to the recent history of the conservative movement and my prediction for its near future. I expected a lot of reaction and got nada.
Speaking of “Joe the Plumber”, he talked at CPAC today about how in the old days critics of “the troops” would be shot. First of all, do you ever hear ANYBODY criticize our soldiers? Second, what the hell is that idiot talking about shooting people for?
February 27, 2009 at 8:02 pm
You have to understand, Red, I’m willing to give you your point of view, but that doesn’t change the fact I think people like Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin and “Joe the Plumber” are mean-spirited punks. I don’t know enough about Michael Steele to say he’s a jerk, but I do know he’s so checked out he thinks he’s going to create a “hip-hop” Republican Party.
My problem with the Republican Party in its current form is they put all the idiots up front, when I know dang well there’s some intelligent, reasonable people in there. Bobby Jindal wobbled out the other night to tell us we shouldn’t look to government for help because they screwed up Katrina! Your party needs to seriously consider the consequences of the quackery they’re supporting right now.

JtheP is a yutz. Every time he opens his mouth it’s a new adventure in ‘what the f**k’. He had his moment, but sorely needs to go away. At least when Coulter shoots off her mouth she backs it up, and doesn’t do the double-back, ‘oh, what do I know’ routine.
February 27, 2009 at 8:38 pm
I did not yet see the Olbermann/Garofalo debacle, but it sounds horrible. As mentioned above, why does every minority have to be a member of the dem party? Can’t people think for themselves?
I LOVE Rush, because he is opinionated, entertaining and does not always take himself seriously, as does Olbermann.
And getting back to the original topic: Maybe it’s just because it’s such a cold winter, but I don’t get ANY of these women wearing sleeveless dreses. And I REALLY don’t get how the media is reporting on it, in the case of Mrs. 0bama, which I guess was Howard’s point. We’ve really got a lot of other things going on in the world.
February 27, 2009 at 9:15 pm
The new First Lady’s sense of style has always been news. Michelle Obama is not only the first black First Lady, she’s also young and gorgeous. It is totally unfair to pick on the media for covering this.

If I had arms like that, I’d cut out my sleeves like the Todd in Scrubs.
February 28, 2009 at 9:04 am
Joermi, I agree that Palin, Buchman and Plumber are punks, but I dont think you can blame Michael Steele for the alleged starting of the “hip-hop” republican party. That is all on Buchman.
February 28, 2009 at 10:29 am
“You be da man Michael, you be da man!”
February 28, 2009 at 11:02 am
“You be da man Michael, you be da man!”
That was so painful to watch. It was like when Mitt Romney was surrounded by black people and said “who let the dogs out? WHO?”.
Yikes.
February 28, 2009 at 12:57 pm
If I had arms like that, I’d cut out my sleeves like the Todd in Scrubs.
The only problem with Michelle’s style preferences is that she may cause people who shouldn’t to emulate her, and there’s a LOT of upper arms out there that should remain decently covered.
Not everyone who wore sheath dresses in imitation of Jackie had forms that were suited to the style.

I hear that. A fine cautionary note for many of us
