Get Don Broderick…

Gawker continues digging into the world of Don Broderick with lots of innuendo and stories from anonymous FNC people…

“He’s a creep and a bully,” says one of three former Fox Newsers who spoke to Gawker. “He really is crazy. People are frightened to turn their backs to him. The fact that he still works there is mind-boggling.”

Neither Broderick nor Fox News returned calls for comment.

In the 2002 incident, according to two of our sources, Broderick screamed at a young female production assistant and threatened to “tear [her] fucking head off” after she briefly couldn’t find a piece of tape he wanted. The incident began when the PA told Broderick, using Fox’s internal text-messaging system, that she couldn’t locate some video that he needed for a piece he was writing. She quickly found it, and messaged him to let him know. His response: “Don’t ever lie to me again. Next time I’ll tear your fucking head off.”

Freaked out, the PA printed out the bizarre, threatening message and showed it to a supervisor. Not long after, according to a former Fox Newser who witnessed part of the confrontation, Broderick approached the PA in the crowded newsroom, clutching a print-out of the offending text message, and “cornered her.”

Update: FTVLive is reporting that Broderick was arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident on Jun 12th…

  1. Wow, what a bunch of morons. So O’Reilly isn’t an anomaly over there.

Joe…nice feflection onto BOR. Here’s a scoop…replace Don Broderick with an exec at MSNBC & I could say the same thing about KO (especially since he has anger management history during his time @ ESPN).

The story isn’t about BOR…it’s about one man’s despicable act against a female PA…nothing more….nothing less.

    My kingdom for a spell checker…”nice deflection” :) ^

Just ask Suzy Kolber what Keith Olbermann did to her over at ESPN. “Olbermann was so overbearing that she would lock herself in the bathroom and cry”

Let’s not forget that Rebecca Lobo of the WNBA almost filed a restraining order on Keith Olbermann for stalking…

  5. joeremi Says:

I didn’t deflect anything. The whole story mentions BOR and Roger Ailes and an atmosphere of Boys Club at FNC. Everybody knows KO’s crazy, but I’ve never heard of the consistent problem of sexual harassment at MSNBC that FNC has a reputatation for.

    1) Where is the sexual harassment in this story?

    2) Why are you taking the word of anonymous “former” employees?

    3) Why wasn’t the women in the story interviewed… just ‘someone’ who saw it?

    4) Why are you trusting Gawker (which I was criticized for quoting last week, after an O’Reilly/Walsh story produced a number of “kill O’Reilly” posts on that site), which has routinely attacked FNC, and is clearly biased against?

    5) Do you work in television? I’ll answer this one for you, as ‘probably not.’ Fighting, shouting, irritability, and whatever else are pretty common in the television world. There is a lot of money on the line, and a reputation can be made or broken within a very short period of time. People are cut-throat and have been known to over react… it’s pretty standard stuff for the industry.

Now, I don’t know if that’s what happened in this case… perhaps this guy is a loon. What, you don’t work with any loons? Heck, my mother works at an arts and crafts store, and works with loons! They’re all over the place… and to make an assumption, or draw some conclusion based upon this “juicy gossip” stinks of both a desire to smear FNC, and a willingness to accept this type of news.

  7. joeremi Says:

It’s called plausible narrative, INB. If a story leaks that backs up a previously hinted at scenario, it’s easy to give it credit…quite apart from my obvious glee in smearing Fox News. Rupert Murdoch is a goon, Roger Ailes is a goon, Glenn Beck is a goon, Sean Hannity is a goon, and Bill O’Reilly is a sexual harassing goon. It’s not hard to picture FNC as a Boy’s Club when most of the women they stick in front of the screen look like Playmates. I believe the story because it looks and smells true.

Good name calling… you should go with “poopy pants” next time, it accomplishes the same thing.

It’s not hard to picture FNC as a Boy’s Club when most of the women they stick in front of the screen look like Playmates.

Most of whom have advanced degrees, law degrees, years of journalism experience, and are pretty good at what they do.

But then again, they’re good looking… so you know, you can DISCRIMINATE and SEXUALLY HARASS them as much as you want, I guess. Whoops, pointed out a little hypocrisy there, didn’t I?

“I believe the story because it looks and smells true.”

ie: because you want to. It attacks FOX, so you believe it. Hey, remember “ethics” and “honesty?” Weren’t those fun?

    Ugh.

  9. Right, I’m discriminating and sexually harassing women because I note that Rupert runs a network heavily waited towards anchors that look like pinup girls and get pushed around a lot. The criticism is of Rupert and his goons, not the women. Poopy pants.

  10. imnotblue Says:

    To quote you, again:

It’s not hard to picture FNC as a Boy’s Club when most of the women they stick in front of the screen look like Playmates.

You accuse the women of “looking like Playmates,” implying that should disqualify them from being news personalities. The statement is clear, their beauty means they cannot also be accomplished or intelligent. That is discrimination, that is harassment.

Making decisions or assumptions based upon their physical appearance is wrong… isn’t it?

  11. joeremi Says:

Wrong again. There’s nothing wrong with intelligent, beautiful women. I know, I married one. My point, which you refuse to address, is that almost every woman on FNC is drop dead gorgeous. I realize that you want to live in a utopian universe where every one is blind to other’s appearance, but out here in the world, we can tell that Rupert insists on hiring the hottest intelligent girls he can find, which makes it just a little easier to believe that FNC is run by a Boy’s Club that objectifies and harasses them.
