Sigh…

MSNBC and FNC have been covering a car chase. You’ve got North Korea, Iran, Iraq, a financial calamity, healthcare reform…and this is the best they can do? I suppose I should be grateful since it bumped you know who’s death off the screen. But that’s damning with faint praise if you ask me…

Update: Et tu, CNN?

    CNN’s running it now too.

I agree Spud, that it’s not newsworthy…but it’s interesting. Good video trumps everything in the news biz.

Spud…absolutely agree. However, as BR states good video always trumps regular news. I guess we can thank OJ for this as well.

And CNNN immediately goes back to their breaking news, all-important coverage of…… Michael Jackson.

Generally I’d agree; but after all the bad, serious news, I needed a good car chase. Fox and Shep did not disappoint.

You get them all the time this time of year. It’s called the IRL and NASCAR. News doesn’t need to gin their own versions up.

No way, Spud knows what IRL is. Race fan! (Although Sat. night’s IRL looked like a car chase where the cops never catch the bad guy).

Fair enough, fair enough… More to the point, it is nice having a break from Michael Jackson, however fleeting. On the merits of covering car chases: you realize that there is a certain drama that does not exist in Nascar, for the obvious reason that there is a lot more at stake. That is why such video always gets big play on cable news.
