WILL SOMEONE GET SEN. COBURN A FRIGGIN’ LOZENGE ALREADY?!

  2. bigred08 Says:

And get Sotomayor a figgin Red Bull.

Ben Stein was more lively in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off than this “wise Latina”.

I’d rather have my toenails plucked with rusty pliers than have to listen to this woman speak.

  3. unclearthur Says:

well, Red, there is a solution to that. Stop listening.

  4. joeremi Says:

Geez, will you paranoids get over the “wise latina” thing? She’s a liberal replacing a liberal…who cares?

  5. bigred08 Says:

I care that one of our Supreme Court justices doesn’t know the different between “eminent” and “imminent”, or who blatantly thinks her race & gender make her uniquely qualified to be a judge.

Liberal, conservative, moderate….whatever. Justice is supposed to be BLIND. Sotomayor, and Obama, don’t believe that.

  6. unclearthur Says:

or who blatantly thinks her race & gender make her uniquely qualified to be a judge.

Or possibly her seventeen years experience on the bench as a judge?

  7. joeremi Says:

Sotomayor’s race and gender make her uniquely qualified to be a female Hispanic judge, which is all she’s saying. Am I supposed to believe a white male doesn’t have a white male’s perspective? You righties are making a fatal mistake with a voting bloc you sorely need. Ignore her race, focus on her judgement. You’ll still face her IMMINENT appointment, but you might save a couple votes.

  8. unclearthur Says:

but you might save a couple votes.

    Doubt it.

  9. joeremi Says:

    Doubt it.

I was being kind. That ship sailed a long time ago.

  10. bigred08 Says:

No, it’s your party that targets judges because they’re “Latino” as was proven in the memo by a Durbin staffer about Miguel Estrada’s nomination.

Joe, you know damn well you’re translation of what she said (on 6 different occasions) is pure b.s.

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion.”

I’d love to hear how you think that could possibly equate with what you said.

  11. joeremi Says:

She said it was poorly phrased, and should be taken in the context of motivating the Latinos she was speaking to. You get nowhere attacking a Latina for expressing her Latinaness. It just makes you look like a cranky white guy (see: Pat Buchanan).

Your party should have stuck to the high road here, legitimately testing her judgements while knowing she was going to sail through without even changing the balance of the court, then go nuclear on the next one.

Is there a single intelligent political advisor left in the GOP? Look at my last paragraph, then tell me why people who actually get paid for advice like that either didn’t come up with it, or couldn’t get it across.

  12. bigred08 Says:

Joe, she said it on SIX DIFFERENT OCCASIONS! Not one time, to one Latino audience. SIX DIFFERENT OCCASIONS.

They have every right to question it, because it questions everything she is supposed to stand for as a judge.

The fact that you & your ilk want to play the race card, yet again, shows you’re no better than Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton & Louis Farrakhan.

  13. joeremi Says:

That’s ridiculous, Red. You guys are playing the race card right into your political grave. Have at it.

  14. joeremi Says:

And nobody bemoans their right to question the Latina thing, it’s the wisdom of it. Like I said, fire away. It’s the 21st Century mate. Aint nobody getting elected Prez without Hispanics.

  15. Actually, she is the one who played the “race card,” so to expect the other side to ignore her repeated inflammatory statement is absurd, to put it mildly.

  16. joeremi Says:

BW, play political advisor. It’s Obama’s first pick, a woman and a Hispanic with a slam dunk assurance of being confirmed, and she won’t upset the current balance on the court. The Republican Party is currently a regional power whose most visible members are a huge (literally) jerk on the radio, and a beauty queen who can’t speak a straight sentence and just quit her first high profile job. Advise.

  17. bigred08 Says:

I think a big rally at Cominskey Field would turn everything around.

  18. joeremi Says:

Cominskey Field, that cracks me up. Home boy likes basketball. He doesn’t give a crap about baseball. Don’t blame ‘im.

  19. bigred08 Says:

Joe, he wore a White Sox jacket to the All-Star game in St. Louis. He was trying to sound like he was some huge Sox fan in the interview.

    He’s a phony.

  20. joeremi Says:

He’s not “a phony.” He’s a basketball fan trying to do his Presidential thing at “America’s pastime.” I’d be there thinking, “This aint auto racing, what’s wrong with you people?”

  21. chipsohio Says:

Joe…I’m not as passioinate a racing fan as you however I’ve been to the Indy 500 several times & I spent many summers during my college years camping out @ MIS (great memories of the camping & all the beer we drank)…what’s your take on Jeremy Mayfield (2nd drug test failure & suing his step-mom)???

  22. joeremi Says:

Wow Chip, I got that news from you. Mayfield had a combative relationship with the two big teams he was on. I would say we know the reason now. He’s done as a driver. Hopefully he gets help before he disintegrates…or hurts somebody.
