Can someone explain the purpose of MSDNC’s countdown clock for Obama’s press conference?
Is this some huge historic event that merits running a daylong countdown clock for?

BR…you’re right, I laughed when I saw it. However, most of the cable news networks have/had been introducing clocks into their newscasts. Fox News has the countdown clock until Congress has their summer recess. And I caught a clock on CNN the other day, however I’m not certain it’s purpose.
I’m afraid it’s a sign of the times…

Art…I’m guessing you’re a Lost fan. I enjoyed Season 1, however I gave up during Season 2.

Chips, you gotta rent/but Seasons 3 & 4. Everybody knows 2 sucked, but it came back together. In 3 they started flashing forward as well as back, which really upended the show in a good way. My favorite show, it’s awesome.

The word is “buy”, not “but”…you probably knew that.

Nice one Red. “There’s that fuzzy math again.”

I was going to post this earlier today, but why is the President meeting with the CBO? To the best of my knowledge, a sitting President has never met with the CBO since Congress created this independent body back in the 70′s.
It’s a violation of the Separartion of Powers and the President should have known better than to request a meeting with Douglas Elmendorg & it is completely unacceptable for the President to meet with this independent director.

Joe…perhaps I’ll get myself back to watching Lost. However, I’m hooked on the Discovery Channel (Deadliest Catch is awesome), History Channel, & National Geographic channel kick.

Actually season two was pretty cool if you FFWD through the stuff about the Tailies, who suck (except for Bernard). I mean, it’s when we first find out about the Dharma Initiative, after all! I love the DI – they’re so awesomely seventies.
I think watching it one-episode-a-week makes it hard to maintain the plot thread – you really need to rent the DVDs and overdose on intricacy.

I’m terrible at maintaining the plot thread. The characters and performances fill the gaps for me. Once I gave up trying to understand every moment, I started enjoying it more. I figure it will all make sense eventually.
Ya think Spud ever wonders why he bothers running a cable news blog? We’re talking about Lost. The thread is bad!

It repays multiple viewings, Joe – stuff in seasons one-two that didn’t make sense, start making sense in seasons four and five. We’ve seen the entire statue now, for instance.
