Talking Head Primetime Invades Daytime: Chapter 8…

Donnie Deutsch is filling in for David Shuster this week on MSNBC Dayside. That would be non-journalist Donnie Deutsch. MSNBC has so many other people it could have brought in who are journalists; Peter Alexander, Jeff Rossen, Amy Robach, Natalie Morales, Lester Holt, Chris Jansing…hell Monica Novotny isn’t doing much these days. It’s just mind boggling that MSNBC would pick Deutsch. But they already have one non-journalist anchoring news these days (Carlos Watson) and another who occasionally does (Dr. Nancy) so what’s another non-journalist on the air?

This says a lot about the state of MSNBC Dayside and what the network wants to do with talent these days. And none of it is any good…

  1. Who IS that guy, anyway? Did he sell something?

  2. He’s an ad man…

  3. …anchoring the news. Brilliant.

  4. Don’t you get tired of sounding like a broken record? Just asking….

  5. And that was directed at Spud, not Joe.

  6. So a non-journalist fills in for another non-journalist…..

    Journalism? What’s that?

smh…MSNBC already has issues with its daytime programming. Carlos Watson, Dr. Nancy, David Shuster, & Ed Shultz (unwatchable). In addition, Dylan Ratigan is brought in & put at a bad time slot. His show would be much better @ 5pm (challenge Beck) vs. 9am.

Hell…at this point a monkey could do a better job putting a better daytime schedule (9am-8pm)

And just so we’re clear, comparing the programmer of MSNBC Dayside to a monkey is an insult…to monkeys.

lol Joe…I’m sorry I should put that in my dislaimer. Hell, I think between the two of us (with some adult beverages) we could put together a much better lineup for that network. We’d definitely have to get rid of David Shuster….also Ed Shultz would be moved to a commentator role. I’d much rather have Dylan Ratigan on air at either 5 or 6pm.

    Your thoughts???

  11. Don’t you get tired of sounding like a broken record? Just asking….

Yeah. I do at times. But someone has to say something since most of the MSM just shrugs its collective shoulders. But then that’s what MSNBC is hoping for. They’re hoping nobody is going to pay enough attention to care.

Chips, I generally agree with your choices. I’d deep six Tamron Hall, too. The Dr. Nancy thing is a complete mystery to me.

  13. chipsohio Says:

Dr. Nancy is a mystery to me as well. I’d give her a 2 hour time block on Saturday morning 10am-12pm. Previously Spud mentioned that this “may be ” a corproate/GE decision.

I like Dr. Nancy as an on-air commentator (just not her new show).

I wonder… are Shuster and Olbermann vacationing together? Is it really (as OlbermannWatch suggests) a Batman and Robin relationship betwixt the two of them?

are Shuster and Olbermann vacationing together?

Hiking in the mountains of Argentina?

No, don’t go there (he said to himself, ignoring the warning).
