CNN newsreaders have once again proven themselves to be idiots (I’m hoping I don’t make a huge mistake in my text; this always happens when calling out others!)

The last time Dick Cheney spoke out about the CIA and “enhanced interrogations” was when 0bama and Eric Holder spoke of investigating them further. And when Cheney defended the CIA’s practices, I remember Anderson Cooper, Erica Hill and someone else wondering why on earth he was coming out at that time to do so! They seemed unable to make the connection that he was responding to the very story they were discussing!

Now this genius Don Lemon wonders the same thing today! He was speaking w/Chicago columnist Lynn Sweet, asking her why on earth we are just hearing from Cheney NOW! Yes, right after he reports on the story stating that Holder has now decided to go after the CIA once again!!! And unbelievably, they conclude that since Cheney will have a book coming out, that must be the reason he is speaking out now! Again, they miss the fact that Cheney is defending the agency against these horrific allegations.

They still don’t believe that it has anything to do with Cheney defending the CIA, a very critical agency that helped keep us safe after our country was attacked eight years ago.

I’m wondering if they have a clue as to why people spoke of Ted Kennedy last week. If they can make the connection that people did so in eulogy because he died, I’ll be impressed!

If it were not for the death of Senator Kennedy, this story “probably” would have had much more attention focused on Congressman Charlie Rangel had his underreporting of income/assets for 2007.

It’ll be extremely interesting to see how Speaker Pelosi handles this since Democrats portrayed Republicans as a “Culture of Corruption” (in some cases rightfully so aka… Duke Cunningham).

It is quite frankly unacceptable for Congressman Rangel to be in charge of the House Ways & Means Committee let alone be a member of Congress.

    Deja Vu, anyone???

  3. I suppose it could be a Hot/Not, but Chris Wallace seemed to make a bit of an editorial statement on Fox News Sunday. Coming out of Juan Williams’ dissertation on “torture” and how much it’s ‘hurt’ the nation, heading into a break Chris says “I just want to point out to the audience that It is purely coincidental that this country has not been attacked again since 9/11.”
Maybe that was supposed to be a rip on Dick Cheney, but it certainly didn’t sound that way.

  4. Dammit!! This will ruin art’s day.

Tom Ridge DENIES he was pressured to raise the terror threat level before the ’04 elections.

    In the USA Today:

“Now, Ridge says he did not mean to suggest he was pressured to raise the threat level, and he is not accusing anyone of trying to boost Bush in the polls. “I WAS NEVER PRESSURED,” Ridge said.

  5. chipsohio Says:

Laura1…I saw that too & I’m not certain what Chris Wallace was trying to imply with his statement. Perhaps Chris was trying to balance Juan’s viewpoint.

I miss seeing Brit Hume on the Sunday panel. I know he retired from anchoring however he really had some great insight into the Washington political process.

  6. Brit’s still on there on a fairly regular basis, but I agree. I wish he was there every Sunday. His debates with Juan Williams were classics.

    Ooooh, woooooe is meeeeeee! (heh)

You’ll notice he didn’t deny that the ‘terror threat level’ was often used for political ends?

  8. missy5537 Says:

““I just want to point out to the audience that It is purely coincidental that this country has not been attacked again since 9/11.””

    He really said that?

Likewise, I’d just like to report that it’s purely coincidental that I’ve gained some weight since I started eating a lot more chocolate.

Sometimes FNC people (esp. O’Reilly) go out of their way to be “fair and balanced”, even when such equivocation makes no sense whatsoever. Now Chris Wallace is doing so?

  9. I didn’t see much equivocation in the statement. I just can’t say, for certain. It seemed as though he was rebutting Williams, but as is so seldom the case, I could be wrong.

  10. Art, that was refuted by those conservative propagandists at … the New York Times…. the next day.

“Mr. Ridge provides no evidence that politics motivated the discussion. Until now, he has denied politics played a role in threat levels. Asked by Eric Lichtblau of The New York Times if politics ever influenced decisions on threat warnings, he volunteered to take a lie-detector test. “Wire me up,” Mr. Ridge said, according to Mr. Lichtblau’s book, “Bush’s Law.” “Not a chance. Politics played no part.”

This was entirely Ridge’s publisher trying to sell books.

Today’s USA Today story also says this in the first paragraph:

“speaking for the first time about accusations made in his new book, says he did not mean to suggest that other top Bush administration officials were playing politics with the nation’s security before the 2004 presidential election.”

And given the fact the terror threat level wasn’t raised, they kinda shoots your whole argument to hell, huh?

  11. – threat level wasn’t raised –

Yes, but, they might have thought about it, and that makes them ‘worse than Hitler.”

  12. Aah the week hasn’t really begun until the first Hitler reference. Thanks for getting that out of the way for us, Laura! ;)

That was a stupid thing for Chris Wallace to say. “I just want to remind our partisan viewers who disagree with Juan Williams that I of course realize torture prevented another 9/11.” Hey Chris, your viewers are perfectly capable of listening to an opinion, then developing their own, thanks.

According to BarackObama.com, the people who are protesting KennedyCare at the Townhall Meetings are not patriots and that we are Bin Ladens…

  14. Zone, is that an official Obama website? Sounds awfully strident coming from the president.

  15. zonedaiatlas Says:

    ^
It’s was official Obama’s campaign website, now it’s an “official” site of the DNC…

  16. By the way, Zone, the people protesting at Town Halls are patriots. The idiots preventing open discussion at these events are not.

  17. Cris wallace was making a point about JUANS STATEMENT THAT the U.S. had not been safer durning the bush adminstration. Cris was dismissing Jauns comment by saying I guest it was a coincidence that we did’nt have an attack on U.S. soil the last 8 years.

Just FYI – anyone can make a site at my.barackobama.com, just as anyone can start a subsite at a number of ‘social media’ sites. Thus the ‘my.’ in the URL.

  19. That’s what I thought too, Art… although, it looks like Roland Burris’ signature is on that letter. I’m a bit confused and skeptical, although would hardly be surprised.
