Previewing O’Reilly’s next line of GE attack..
The Washington Examiner’s Timothy P. Carey gives Bill O’Reilly an early X-mas Christmas present. O’Reilly will have a field day with this. And for a change, he’ll actually be on somewhat solid ground… (via The Cable Game)
“The intersection between GE’s interests and government action is clearer than ever,” General Electric Vice Chairman John G. Rice wrote in an Aug. 19 e-mail to colleagues.
Rice was calling on his co-workers to join the General Electric Political Action Committee. “GEPAC is an important tool that enables GE employees to collectively help support candidates who share the values and goals of GE.”
The full letter suggests that “share the values and goals of GE” really means “support policies that profit the company.”
Steve Milloy, a pro-free market investor at the Free Enterprise Action Fund, obtained this e-mail and says it reveals General Electric for what it really is. “GE is lobbying to become the biggest rent seeker this country has ever seen,” Milloy told this column. Rent seeking is using government legislation or regulation to generate private profits the free market wouldn’t provide.

I’d love to see a complete list of all the Fortune 500 companies that have this very same kind of PAC. Bet GE is not the only one.

What are the odds that the Washington Examiner and/or Timothy P. Carey end up on KO’s WPITW list?

Spud,
You wrote that “And for a change, he’ll actually be on somewhat solid ground…”, however, this is just further evidence that O’Reilly has been correct all along. His thesis is that the Obama Admin & GE are in effect, a partnership. More and more, BOR is proving to be correct. Some people may not like it, however, it is what it is.

The fact that Jeff Immelt is now on the board of the Fed is disturbing, to say the least. Shouldn’t some type of “conflict of interest” clause kick in?
The rest of the media is ignoring this, and the ties GE has with governmental agencies and this “green” crap. So if O’Reilly didn’t report on this, we’d never know.
Does anyone have a problem with us having this info?

And lets not forget the $139 billion loan guarantees from the Tax payers. Sorry Spud but O’Reilly has been right along about GE..

GE will push hard for cap & trade to pass. They’re hoping to pocket billions (or trillions) through “green” energy. That’s why they sell out even their NFL programming during “green week”.
As a football fan & political junkie, the one place I don’t want to see or hear anything about politics is during NFL games. But thanks to NBC, I get ridiculous studios lighted by candles, and Olbermann as a commentator.
Thanks a lot.
O’Reilly has personal reasons to go after GE, but we might want to pay attention to what he’s saying.
“GE PAC” will be an ultra-liberal lobbying & fundraising source.

Not a huge fan of O’Reilly’s but I hope he keeps after GE. Intimidating employees on candidates and legislation to endorse is ONLY the tip of the iceberg with this company. And I totally agree with Missy above – Immelt being on the board of the Fed is TOTALLY a conflict of interest. GE is not a company anymore, they are simply another terrorist faction – with roots on Wall St. People need to be afraid of this Obama – GE relationship.
