Shot Fired at Lou Dobbs’ House?

  1. I love this thread. Shots fired at Lou Dobbs’ home. Nobody cares.

  2. Maybe that’s because the conservatives around here don’t try to tar all liberals as violent extremists.

    Please note that Lou Dobbs is claiming that anti-Lou rhetoric has led directly to anti-Lou violence. I thought it was a tenet of conservative faith that vitriolic rhetoric can’t inflame unstable people to commit crimes?

    Conservatives here – or me standing in for them on this occasion – say three things:

    (1) Lou Dobbs speaks for himself;

    (2) We have no idea who shot at Dobbs’ home or why or even if they did;

    (3) It is not a “tenet of conservative faith” that an environment of inflammatory speech can never affect, directly or indirectly, those immersed in that environment;

    (3) People who do commit crimes of a political nature are motivated by lots of factors. To single out one person’s comments or views as being the sole or even predominant motivating factor in a crime is nonsensical.

    E.g., the left’s smearing of Bill O’Reilly for causing the murder of Dr. Tiller was based on no evidence whatsoever. No one knows whether the murderer ever listened to O’Reilly or ever listened to O’Reilly comments about the late Doctor.

    It is that claim that conservatives reject.

  5. Ha, make that four.

    Okay, how about, er, 3a and 3b?

  6. [...] Dobbs says shots fired at his house. HuffPo asks: Who’s the ultimate media game-changer? Gross offers counter-intuitive take on circulation numbers. Globe publisher Ainsley to retire. [...]

  7. Art, I thought it was a basic tenet of liberal faith that conservatives inflame conservatives to commit violent acts, and there are no liberal extremists out there.

    You’ve argued repeatedly that its conservatives who are violent.

    This, as is the case of all other crimes, was the fault of THE ONE WHO FIRED THE BULLET. Period.

    Talk about bad timing MSNBC is going to air a anti-Dobb’s ad on Maddow’s show..now KO,Maddow and others led the blaming of O’reilly,Beck and Rush for inciting violence and now their going to air and ad against Dobbs after someone already taken a shot at him…also KO got worked up when people mocked him for being upset that someone sent him soap powders in the mail..so I wonder how he’ll treat this story if he dose at all?

  9. imnotblue Says:

    Anybody remember when last year, MSNBC decided not to run a certain ad because they “didn’t run ads that were politically controversial?” Of course, the ad was from the right… so no go. Seems they’ve forgotten about that. I wonder why… oh that’s right, because it’s from the Left, so it’s not really “controversial.” At least not to them.

  10. imnotblue Says:

    So, Art… do YOU blame MSNBC, Olbermann, Maddow, and the other various left-wing groups for Dobbs’ home getting shot at? You blamed the Tiller murderer on O’Reilly… so I suppose you’ll blame this on those who “instigated it.” Right?

    No? Hmmm… what another fun double standard.

    You guys crack me up, you’re so desperate to earn equal victimhood. From CNN:

    Police aren’t saying for now that the shot was fired at the house but only, as Jones said, that it struck the house. A stray shot from a long gun would not be a “totally uncommon occurrence because of the hunters and target shooters” in the region, Jones said.

  12. imnotblue Says:

    And if that’s the case, Art… terrific! But I’m amazed at how easily you’re able to dismiss this.

    Apparently the difference is you don’t like Dobbs… so therefore, any act of violence against him (or his family), is acceptable. Tiller was one of “your guys,” so naturally it’s different.

    That some powerful ego you’ve got there, Art. Violence is violence… in neither situation is it acceptable, and you should be man enough to acknowledge that. But honestly, I can’t say I’m surprised you’re not.

  13. unclearthur Says:

    You’re still cracking me up, Blue. Act of Violence? Where?

    You sooo badly want someone to take potshots at conservatives…

  14. Art, do you even pay attention any more? Dobbs said he had been receiving nasty phone calls for a while now… at his home. And then this happened.

    You are simply incapable or rational or honest dialogue. I don’t know why you even try. Just post, “I hate people who disagree with me, and wish bad things upon them.” And move on! Really… it would save you a lot of time!
