Another FBN Ratings Leak…

The Business Insider’s Joe Wiesenthal was leaked FBN’s ratings for Don Imus’ show…

Fox Biz has finally attracted some viewers by having Don Imus in the morning, rather than actual business news. But they can’t be too happy with the demographics. It seems Don Imus has virtually no appeal in the lucrative 25-54 year old demo.

A tipster passed us on the data:

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep on saying it. FBN isn’t rated by Nielsen officially. My position is it’s well past time it should be. But it isn’t, and therefore any leaked numbers should be considered as invalid. And should not be posted under any circumstances. And I will continue to call for a boycott of FBN ratings until it is rated by Nielsen.

  1. FNC is tallied, or should I say rated by Neilsen, It’s just that Fox must pay to see and/or use the data or to have their results posted for all subscribers to see….something Fox chooses not to do.

  2. My bad. I was referring to FBN

How nice of the folks at CNBC to leak FBN’s numbers again. I’m sure they loved this latest hit piece on their competitor. How many times has CNBC leaked numbers for FBN? Funny, they always do it when they themselves get in trouble.

This leak must be designed to take away from CNBC plunging more than 50%.

They have also leaked right before they abandoned business programming to show Olympic b.s. and numerous other times. When they want a deflection from where they are screwing up—leak and try and hurt FBN.

Of course negative leaks take more than 3 to 1 or more to overcome but when FBN leaks oh my….

What I’d really love to know is where was the leak in ratings in this story from a few days ago:

“So what does it all mean? It means CNBC is leaking to The Business Insider and FBN is leaking to Zero Hedge.”

Of course, ,they could have easily pulled up the information they had just from the net and none of what was in either story needed leaked numbers from what I saw.

    LOL
Looks like “starbroker” is having a panic attack – FBN is attracting an audience that’s OLD and POOR ….the demographics that even CSPAN wouldn’t envy. Good luck having a prospering channel with a demo profile like that…most advertisers would probably chuck that in the trash (even trashy companies like “Head On” wouldn’t waste their time with them).

Have fun spinning this one, buddy boy.
    (so far…you’re failing…and looking desperate)

When Imus gets on NYC cable systems and others his demo will go down. FBN is only in half the country right now.

Of course one more who is hung up on the demo profile and not looking at the big picture. Stay out of the cable business ReadyForIt.

All they need Imus for is to draw more households/revenue. That’s his play.

But it must kill a FBN hater like yourself to know that FBN pulls in the same license fee as your boy Keith Olbermanns station.

I don’t think so. Zero Hedge doesn’t have the resources at its disposal (read: money) to get that data from Nielsen. From a cost benefit analysis it makes no sense to be a Nielsen subscriber and only put out a handful of Nielsen related stories a year. And ZH is not going to spend an hour or so looking up the data, entering it into Excel and turning it into a graph. Or Powerpoint. It’s more trouble than it’s worth. And I should know because I used to do a few of those way way back. Then I wised up and stopped.

There’s another way you can tell the info is a leak. But since the network people read this blog, I’m not going to give that one away. But I have to say it’s pretty dang obvious and not at all a very good attempt at covering up footprints…and all the networks make this same mistake when doing leaks. It’s truly amazing sometimes to those of us who cover the industry as we watch these networks try to be all secretive and not leave footprints but they’re so totally tone deaf on how to really go about doing it that they wind up being positively obvious about it…Keystone Cops level obvious. They might as well stick out a big neon sign on their building saying “Yes, we leaked that. It came from us.” It’s really that bad sometimes. And yet they think they’re being clever.

Stop trying to bend over backwards for FBN. It was an FBN leak to Zero Hedge. The other one was a CNBC leak to Business Insider.

  8. But it must kill a FBN hater like yourself to know that FBN pulls in the same license fee as your boy Keith Olbermanns station.

And how, pray tell, would you know that Starbroker? FBN’s license fees haven’t been publicized as far as I can tell. FNC’s were and still are (saw one regarding Time Warner the other day where FNC wanted a big hike and there was some question whether TW would go along).

In any case, the information isn’t that obvious to find. Which makes you knowing about it all the more interesting. And suspicious.

  9. readyforit1 Says:

LOL don’t be “suspicious” Spud….he’s just making things up, hoping that people will buy his baloney. Good thing you’re “keeping them honest”.

  10. starbroker Says:

That information is available to people who have the right resources and know what they are looking for.

As far as FNC’s fees, most had already agreed to their new deal. They get around .75 to .85. They are around the top 5 in all cable channels when it comes to fees. That’s the $800 million a year gift that keeps on giving.

I find it funny how Ready loves to keep attacking personally. One day, you might actually know some facts. Until then, keep on attacking. Keith Olbermann would be proud.

Of course those attacking the “key demo” always forget about the real money making elephant for all those channels.

  11. starbroker Says:

ReadyForIt, I’m sure you dont read regular trade publications because it seems you would have no business to, but even if you read MultiChannel News, they even covered what TW would be paying before FBN even launched. Depending upon which systems it would be .10 to .15.
