Fake Sarah Palin Photos air on MSNBC…

NewsBusters’ Scott Whitlock writes about MSNBC using fake Sarah Palin photos during Morning Meeting…

On Friday’s edition of Morning Meeting, host Dylan Ratigan featured fake photos of Sarah Palin during a mocking segment on why Americans are fascinated with the former vice presidential candidate. While listing the show’s top ten reasons, Ratigan showed a doctored photo of Palin’s head on the bikini-clad body of a woman holding a weapon.

The host never admitted or addressed the fact that his network was passing off counterfeit pictures to his viewers. Earlier in the segment, Ratigan displayed an image of Palin in a short, black mini-skirt. This photo is also not real. MSNBC should immediately apologize for presenting such false information.

This is unfortunately not new to cable news. FNC has used photoshopped photos in the past when referring to certain people it had issues with. Two that come immediately to mind are NBC Universal’s Jeff Zucker and The New York Times’ Jacques Steinberg and Steven Reddicliffe. As far as I know the network never addressed those incidents publicly. So, with that example set, Whitlock may be waiting a long time to hear from MSNBC…

Update: This from J$…

I believe O’Reilly did address those photos on a subsequent program, referring to them as ‘caricatures’.

  1. Those Newsbusters folks are a touchy bunch, eh? Gimme a break, it was a comedy segment, and the photos were obviously faked for the bit. It’s a stupid attempt at Daily Show humor, and it’s inclusion as an MSNBC Dayside segment is questionable, but anybody that thinks the photos were supposed to be received as authentic is an idiot.

  2. Compared to when they used that doctored video of the guy holding a rifle at a rally to avoid showing he was black..(so they could attack Town hall protesters as gun toting racist) thats pretty tame.

Plus this is MSNBC after all so sexist attacks on Palin are to be expected I mean they’ll punish Shuster for making unfavorable remarks about Hillary but they can do or say anything about Palin.

  3. I assume this is along the same lines as when Fox & Friends used clearly doctored-up pics to ad some humour. If that’s the case, lighten up.

If, on the other hand, these images were used in an attempt to present a serious criticism of the governor, then it’s blatantly over the line.

  4. Joe, the photos were not “faked for the bit”. They’ve been circulating for over a year now.

  5. A technicality, Red. They were obviously joke pics for a joke segment. Jon Stewart does photoshop bits all the time. Ratigan was (lamely) trying to be Jon Stewart. Of course, conservatives with no sense of humor wouldn’t know that. They’re too busy being victimised by Dylan Ratigan and Larry King.

  6. So, is MSDNC now doing comedy on dayside? They might as well. The rest of their programming is laughable.

  7. Dang, Red, that’s all you got? Your heart’s just not in it tonight. Must be in a good mood..

  8. what are devotions…
