Anchor Dylan Ratigan Moves to 4 p.m. as Host of “The Dylan Ratigan Show”

NEW YORK – Dec. 14, 2009 – NBC News Chief White House Correspondent and Political Director Chuck Todd and NBC News White House Correspondent Savannah Guthrie will anchor “The Daily Rundown,” weekdays 9-10 a.m. ET on MSNBC, premiering Jan. 11, 2010.

“The Daily Rundown” will showcase the depth and experience of the NBC News Washington bureau, led by Todd and Guthrie. The show will focus on the top political stories of the day, with reporting and analysis from Washington’s strongest White House team. “We want this show to be a resource for viewers looking for political news and discussion, without the noise,” said Todd. “It will be the place for viewers to get everything they need to know about what’s making news and what will make news.”

Nikki Egan will be executive producer, “The Daily Rundown.” Libby Leist will serve as senior producer from Washington, DC.

MSNBC anchor Dylan Ratigan, currently host of “The Morning Meeting,” will move to 4-5 p.m. ET weekdays as host of “The Dylan Ratigan Show,” also starting Monday, Jan. 11. “The Dylan Ratigan Show” will bring viewers information, analysis and viewpoints they won’t see anywhere else, as Ratigan follows the money trail to provide viewers a better understanding of issues across the spectrum, from the economy to health care to the latest breaking news. Shannon High will continue to serve as executive producer.

“Chuck and Savannah are fantastic reporters and it speaks to the tremendous advantage MSNBC has, to have access to the resources of NBC News, and to be able to use their knowledge and expertise in a daily show,” said Griffin. “I’m also thrilled to have Dylan move to the afternoons, where his analysis of politics and the economy and his tough interviews will be a great companion to ‘Hardball.’”

David Shuster and Tamron Hall, who had previously anchored 3-5 p.m. ET on MSNBC, will remain anchors with MSNBC dayside.

  1. Ratigan is very similar in tone and demeanor to Matthews and he tends bully guests with views opposed to his as well. It will be interesting to see how they look in a side by side comparison . Hopefully he will tone down the “BANKS ARE GAMBLING WITH YOUR MONEY” storyline. It’s getting really old.
I wonder if the shorter show will allow him to concentrate on business & politics and not have to deal with entertainment and crime like he does on dayside.
It’s too bad they didn’t replace the first Hardball show with his as it would seem to be a better fit.
Can Dr. Nancy’s demise be far behind? Once the health care debate is done her show should be moved to Saturday AM to compete with Gupta on CNN.

Ratigan does bully his guests, but only when they are lying, spinning or dodging a question. If he disagrees with them, he works to find common ground. And as for the banks gambling with our money, they are still doing it, until they stop, it should continue to be a story!
