New CNN program with Rick Sanchez to debut in January. Situation Room to Two Hours…
Did CNN’s Rick Sanchez let the cat out of the bag with this early morning tweet?
Hey guys, new CNN show beginning Jan 18th, weekdays 3-5pm ET. “Rick’s List”- Who will make the list?
3-5pm? That cuts into The Situation Room’s 4-7pm timeslot. What’s going on here?
Update: Wolf Blitzer also tweeted about this. The Situation Room loses an hour. Blitzer spins it this way…
New SitRoom start time. Beg. mid-Jan, we’re on 5-7p ET. Our excellent team can focus on 2 solid hrs. Less becomes more.
Less becomes more? Really?
Update 2: Politico’s Michael Calcerone has some more information…
CNN president Jon Klein, on the morning editorial call, told staffers that both Wolf Blitzer and Sanchez are pleased with the decision.
Update 3: Broadcasting & Cable’s Alex Weprin…
Starting Jan. 18, the same day King’s program launches, Sanchez will host Rick’s List from 3-5 p.m. The show appears to take a cue from ESPN’s Sportsnation, with interactive features and viewer feedback playing a major role.
Update 4: Sanchez adds…
Every day “Rick’s List” will be full of newsmakers and thinkers we- and u- think are relevant to CNN. My access = your access.
Update 5: The LA Times’ Matea Gold…
CNN executives declined to speak publicly about the move, but an executive said privately that the change was made to bring more uniformity to the afternoon lineup. The shake-up also lessens the focus on political news, which is expected to be one of the main topics covered in the 4 p.m. PST hour when John King begins anchoring that time slot early next year.

From Wolf Blitzer’s Twitter:
“New SitRoom start time. Beg. mid-Jan, we’re on 5-7p ET. Our excellent team can focus on 2 solid hrs. Less becomes more.”

Checking my TweetDeck, both tweets were published at the same time – 09:45 this morning.

Here’s a capture from my TweetDeck. Looks like they walked out of a meeting and tweeted the news at the same time.

CNN (Cable News Network) should change its name to CTN (Cable Tweet Network) or in the case of Rick Sanchez the cable twit network.

We suppose we’ll offend some of the delicate sensibilities out there, but we always refer to him as Dirty Sanchez.

Translation: The key demo is tiring of Blitzer’s 20 hours a week.
December 22, 2009 at 9:35 am
Translation: The idiocy of Jon Klein continues as he further drives CNN to the bottom of the pile. Anyone who thinks giving more time to Rick Sanchez is a good idea must have a death wish. MSNBC is probably celebrating the early Christmas present they have received.

Always up for a usefull dialogue, you two.

The bottom line: Sanchez & Blitzer should be hawking Flowbee’s on FBN/CNBC weekends.

The name of Rick’s new show is SO STUPID!
Where is the creativity???
I think it makes sense for Blitzer to be reduced to two hours a day, like the dayside anchors.

-”Rick’s List”-
The show hasn’t even had its debut and there’s already room for improvement.

Eleven comments and no one’s mentioned The Incident. Such maturity, we have.
