More “R word” shenanigans…

In what seems to me to have become an overblown game of gotcha, the latest entrant into the “R word” derby is Ed Schultz

You can add MSNBC and radio talker Ed Schultz for using the dreaded “R” word. The word got Rush Limbaugh and Rahm Emanual in trouble. Olbermann even did a segment the other night asking if Sarah Palin would go after Rush-and if she didn’t-she would be a hypocrite.

  1. Nobody. Cares.

  2. Geez, at least the Romans had bread and circus.

    This is what we get?

  3. Go ahead, ask me if I care.

  4. I don’t care enough to ask.

  5. ^ No matte. I would’ve said, “Ehh, don’t ask.”

  6. ^Don’t be retarded. Oh!

  7. Buncha retards.

  8. ^I’m trying to be deeply offended, but after the new standard that Lonestar77 set yesterday, I don’t seem to be able to manage it.

“Comedian Bill Maher Friday said President Obama has become so populist that he’s demanding to see his own birth certificate.
Appearing on the “Jay Leno Show,” Maher also accused Democrats of being so hapless, “They couldn’t sell a cub scout to a pedophile.”

  10. ^Do you have a point or are you just want us all to read newsbusters?

Just a joke Fritz I thought would bring a laugh to the group. Nothing more. News Busters reference was part of the copy and paste for attribution purposes.

Just finished watching the Fox news Sunday’s interview with Palin.

IMHO, Dynamite, grand slam performance. This is going to really put her on the map. Everyone should watch it (liberals so they understand where conservatives are coming from) . Until now I’ve not been a Palin supporter but she got my juices flowing now!

What a breath of fresh air!

liberty – I didn’t catch the Wallace interview this morning, but I saw her speech at the tea party convention last night. Overall she did well, but I was hoping to come away with a better understanding of what the tea party’s platform is, and unfortunately she didn’t go beyond bashing Obama’s agenda and pushing platitudes.

I think she will be a powerful force on the campaign trail for Conservative candidates….moderates will steer clear of her. Looking ahead, I think she would do well to run for the US Senate if she has aspirations of running for office again.

    Joe:
What in the world are you talking about? I didn’t offend anybody…that I know of. I think you’re mistaking me with somebody else.

  15. LS: in a conversation about Imus, Wallace, Palin, and FNC’s prediliction for hiring Playmate cadidates to read the news, you implied that a female commentor here was jealous and insecure about her own looks. That’s a not-so-veiled attempt to call a woman ugly. I’ve been around here for a long time and I’ve never seen someone try that stupid tactic in a debate before. If you were a man, you’d apologize and find a more honorable way to disagree with people.

  16. “…only limited government can expand prosperity and opportunity for all. And that freedom is a God-given right and it is worth fighting for… and that America’s finest are men and women in uniform are a force for good throughout the world and that is nothing to apologize for.”

Cribbed from Palin’s Tea Party speech. If the woman is going to get beyond talk shows and paid speeches, she’s going to have to start saying something.

  17. On Fox News Sunday, Palin morphed Rahm Emmanuel’s stupid ‘retarde’ epithet into “Obama and Emmanuel are insensitive to the special needs community.” Bit of a stretch there, Sarah. I disagree, L&J…another scattered, content-less performance. There’s no there there.

  18. My kingdom for an edit function. There’s a ‘d’ missing up there somewhere.

  19. The “limited government”rhetoric comes right out of the Ronald Reagan play book. He did ok, as I recall.

As for her tiff with Rahm Emanuel over the “retarded” comment, I think that was a tactical move designed to put him on the “insincere apology circuit” and further erode his influence. I also think whoever leaked that comment made in a semi-private conversation had had enough of Emanuel’s methods of intimidation and was pretty sure that it would have to be Palin who delivered the smack-down.

The opposition for the White House is the legislative branch, not the Republicans.

  20. libertyandjustice Says:

It’s all about principles Joe. (As the founders would say, “limited government” . However thanks for your opinion and usual flair.

  21. libertyandjustice Says:

I’m no prude but I was offended by Nixon’s nasty vulgar language (among other things) revealed by the Oval Office tapes. I have the impression that Rahm has an equally if not meaner vulgar streak. It’s not disqualifying but a real turn off. I prefer not to hear the F word, It use to be a career derailer with the people I worked with but that’s just my opinion.

  22. As a liberal, I’m glad Emanuel’s comment was leaked and then he had to apologize due to pressure on him from Sarah Palin, of all people. I guess everyone had been too intimidated and afraid of retaliation to tell him to his face that he should probably stop swearing at and insulting his party’s own grassroots supporters. I mean, could you picture Michael Steele calling the Republican base “f***ing retarded” just because they’re more conservative than he is?

  23. Used sparingly, vulgarity serves us well in some situations. It can provide an instant, non-violent release of pent-up tension and gives our thoughts a segue into more productive contemplations. Nobody, including Mr. Emanuel, should be judged too harshly for what is uttered in private. For this, Sarah Palin deserves to be criticised for making hay out of his remark.

In the trauma centre and out of earshot of any patient or patients’ families, it is not uncommon to hear something like, “Mr. So and So in Trauma 3 is circling the drain.” Yes, crude talk and clearly offencive, but a needed release for those who face death every day.

  24. For the record, I agree with SP that Rahm should resign. He’s a foulmouthed idiot with bad karma trailing every step he takes. Obama needs better advice than that hothead provides.

  25. realreal10 Says:

I agree that Rahm should also resign, but not for what he said, but rather for being an idiot–(I can say that, right?) who underestimates and does not appreciated the Left, and that could cause the administration many problems (See Mass. Special Election).

  26. I don’t know if Rahm Emanuel should resign or not. If reports are correct, he was the sole wise member of the president’s inner circle who warned that moving trials to NYC from Guantanamo would be a huge miscalculation. Perhaps the problems of this administration are not rooted in his advice but, rather, that his advice is being over-ruled.

  27. gettingpwned Says:

if palin actually made a point once in awhile you’d have a clue what she was talking about.
if she runs in 2012, you won’t have to worry about democrats trying to take her down. her own party will do it first.

  28. realreal10 Says:

Sarah Palin on Rush Limbaugh’s use of the word Retard:
“They are kooks, so I agree with Rush Limbaugh,” she said, when read a quote of Limbaugh calling liberal groups “retards.” “Rush Limbaugh was using satire … . I didn’t hear Rush Limbaugh calling a group of people whom he did not agree with ‘f-ing retards,’ and we did know that Rahm Emanuel, as has been reported, did say that. There is a big difference there.”

    -I. Am. Speechless.

  29. realreal10 Says:

    One more thing,

Please forgive me, but this is just too funny:

Especially after Mrs. Palin uses that Obama is just a “Charismatic Guy with a Teleprompter” digg.
