What’s Hot/What’s Not: 02/28/10

What’s Hot:

Chile Earthquake and Pacific tsunami coverage – Chile’s earthquake and the Pacific wide tsunami alert kept the cable nets busy Saturday.

What’s Not:

Olbermann vs. Mediaite – There’s a lot to say about both sides on this spat. Mediaite shouldn’t have bothered responding to Olbermann. And Olbermann should have known better, and probably did know better but went ahead anyways, when he dragged Dan Abrams into it.

Health Care Summit coverage – Waste. Of. Time.

Punked – MSNBC was had when a fake Ryan Miller was interviewed during its Olympic wrap up show.

Just call me “primetime” – Rick Sanchez had another Rick Sanchez moment yesterday when he did what could be characterized as a hostile interview…of a CNN analyst regarding the tsunami. Coincidentally, or maybe not, Sanchez was not seen anchoring on CNN the rest of the day while his co-anchor Fredricka Whitfield stayed on the air for hours.

  1. The thing about KO is he went after Dan Abrams who still is employed by NBC/MSNBC…now after the Scarborough/KO dust up..they made a big deal out of saying they wouldn’t put up with their on-air personalities attacking each other…..so now it’s going to be interesting will they openly punish KO like Scarborough?.. or will they just use his sick father as an excuse to let it go?

If they do let him get away with it how will Joe and the other on air talent fell about the double standards?

  2. I saw Rick Sanchez just before I left my TV for the day and thought, “Oh yeah, that’s a good idea.” You could see he was preparing to attack the earthquake/tsunami story with his patented “regular guy, keepin’ ‘em honest” approach. Nothing good was bound to come from that.

  3. Funnyman Mo Rocca on tweets about Rick Sanchez:

Jacqui Jeras needs to take out a restraining order on Rick Sanchez! 4:01 PM Feb 27th

“9 meters” is English. 3:55 PM Feb 27th

Rick Sanchez must be stopped. 3:53 PM Feb 27th

  4. Poor Sanchez was probably mad about having to come in on a weekend and babysit Ms. Whitfield. That woman can’t anchor Paris Hilton news without screwing it up.

Speaking of Sanchez: I thought he was a lamer all the way back in his MSNBC days. But, now he’s even worse.
