Our longstanding love-hate relationship with former WSVN turned CNN anchor Rick Sanchez continues, and as it does more often than not, it’s veering more toward hate at the moment.

This weekend he got a chance to break out of his Twitter-addicted regular show on CNN, to host some of the network’s coverage of the earthquake on Chile, and uh, it was pretty painful. In the clip above he apparently thinks Hawaii is located off the coast of Peru.

CNBC’s graphics change…

Newscast Studio blogs about the changes to CNBC’s graphics which debuted this morning…

Overall, the new package is a good improvement over the past graphics, but the stock market box seems almost too big. Also, all of the graphics seem very large when you compare them to the size of space they actual take up on air, since CNBC chops off the top and bottom for tickers.

The package uses many reflections and “wet floor” effects to help give it a modern feel. The CNBC bug has also been changed and now cycles through various icons of where you can watch CNBC including online, on your phone and on TV.

Damien Hoffman: Charlie, was there any specific reason you moved over to FOX?

Charlie: I always wanted to work for FOX. People keep asking me “What happened? Why would you want to work for FOX?” FOX is a place that’s good for me. I would have come here sooner if I didn’t have a very labor intensive book. I couldn’t just start a job while taking off two months.

I needed to put a lot of time into this job. I’m doing a book now called Bought And Paid For — the unholy alliance between Wall Street and big government. But it’s not the type of work as The Sellout.

CNBC has announced that Bernard (Bernie) Lo will rejoin the network as an anchor based out of its Hong Kong Studio. His new assignment will include coverage during core business day programming, as well as a weekly 30-minute talk show. In this new capacity, Lo will
report to John Casey, VP, News and Programming for CNBC Asia.

“We have been steadily building the strongest on-air team of journalists of any network in the region over the past few years. This addition will ensure CNBC continues to best serve the Asian viewer with the most capable people in the business,” said John Casey.

CYNTHIA HUDSON TAPPED TO HEAD CNN EN ESPAÑOL

Award-winning Spanish-language television executive and journalist Cynthia Hudson has been named senior vice president and general manager of CNN en Español and Hispanic strategy for CNN/U.S., it was announced today by Tony Maddox, executive vice president and managing director of CNN International. Hudson will relocate from Miami to CNN’s global headquarters in Atlanta, and report to Maddox.

In her new position, Hudson will oversee newsgathering, editorial content, programming, production, operations and personnel, of CNN en Español, CNN en Español RADIO and the recently launched CNNMexico.com, a joint venture Web site produced in conjunction with Grupo Editorial Expansión.

“Cynthia brings to CNN en Espanol a wealth of creative and strategic experience in both television and new media,” said Maddox. “Her appointment underscores CNN’s commitment to the Latin American marketplace, where CNN en Español consistently ranks as the region’s leading pan-regional news network, and positions us to best serve the growing Hispanic market in the U.S.
