Daily rundown had a bit of a scoop today when UN envoy Peter Galbraith accused Hamid Karzai of doing drugs and not playing with a full deck.
Chuck looked a little surprised at the accusation.

I thought Ainsley did reasonably well with the mine-coverage last night. Aside from an unseemly focus on the number of casualties, and the discrepancies therein, she was relatively unembarrassing.

^ “…she was relatively unembarrassing.”
I suppose in today’s cable news world that’s a real compliment.
April 6, 2010 at 11:34 am
In Ainsley’s world it certainly is. It was bad enough that she flubbed the Kennedy coverage like she did, but at least that death wasn’t tragically unexpected (though the coverage was still awful). If she’d been allowed to aimlessly wander, with 25 people dying or dead, then I don’t know what.

I’ve had Fox on all day, and they’re really not covering it a lot. One would think that with the number of lives lost, plus the fact that four people are still missing, that this would be a bigger story.
April 6, 2010 at 4:41 pm
…that this would be a bigger story.
…but that would interfere with their Tea Party Good, Obama Bad agenda.

I don’t know what either one of you are talking about. I’ve seen quite a bit of coverage on the mining accident, just not the wall-to-wall stuff that gets tiresome with other stories. Shep has covered several angles on it.

I’m responding to Missy’s assessment. I’ve been away from TV all day. But there’s never not a good time to bust on FNC for their efforts to develop their own political party. Roger Ailes is a genius.
April 6, 2010 at 5:31 pm
I’ve seen plenty of the story on FNC today. I’m glad they leave the wall-to-wall to the bang-head-on-wall networks.

It shows how good Shep is. He always impresses me when interviewing regular people. Maybe he’s asked a dopey question, somewhere along the line, but I haven’t seen it. Empathy is not the most common trait amongst media-types.
April 6, 2010 at 6:38 pm
Can we get Shep to do all of Fox dayside?
April 6, 2010 at 6:47 pm
If you find yourself around a TV at 11:00est tonight, check out Rachel Maddow’s take-down of FNC’s BS Acorn reporting, at about the half-hour mark. It’s brilliant. Remember that guy that offered to “help” O’Keefe run prostitutes? As soon as he was done getting as much information as possible from pimp-not-dressed-like-a-pimp-inside-the-office…he called the police. Did F&F, Beck or Hannity tell you that? Of course not.
April 6, 2010 at 7:10 pm
O’Keefe did say one of the places called the police… maybe it was Breitbart who said that on one of the FNC shows.

Man, that Westboro Babtist story is exasperating. Megyn tried to explain to O’Reilly that the freedom to protest a thousand feet away from an abortion clinic is threatened if these morons can’t do what they did outside the funeral. I hate to say it, but, she’s got a point. Freedom of speech is a PITA sometimes..
April 6, 2010 at 8:56 pm
Both Ann Coulter and Megyn Kelly made good points about the case, which is why it’s been taken up by the Supremes.
It’s the case that pits the 1st Amendment right to say what you want regardless of how others believe with the right to be free of someone intentionally intentionally inflicting emotional harm.

Eh, screw it. Just mow ‘em all down..

Here’s that word that got past Shep last night. Hate for anyone to miss it.
