Spitzer? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
The Baltimore Sun’s David Zurawik really isn’t an Elliot Spitzer fan…and throws an elbow at Keith Olbermann along the way…
I am not going to go on and on about this, but I want to get on the record saying that if CNN decides to make former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer a regular on-air presence, it will be making a big mistake.
That probably goes for MSNBC as well, but that depends on how much damage you think Keith Olbermann has or has not already done to that channel’s credibility.
There clearly is a campaign being waged to get Spitzer a cable-TV job. And it is kind of shameless the way some of my colleagues are carrying water for those waging the campaign without acknowledging the folks behind it. That doesn’t do much for our credibility either — I get that.
But here’s my problem with Spitzer. It’s not his sleazy escapades with prostitutes. It’s that he tried to deceive the citizens of New York who put him in office about his sleazy escapades with prostitutes.

Well, CNN also has Nancy Grace on their air too, and Nancy was thrown out of Atlanta years ago, literally, and she cannot practice Law anymore anywhere in the entire United States of America. Plus, she has pending lawsuits against herself in both state and federal courts right now, again. So, CNN has a bad reputation, and a bad track record for making good decisions.
June 11, 2010 at 9:36 pm
Elliot Spitzer should be in jail where some huge ox of a fellow prisoner will gesture to him with a glowing… finger, and call out, “Ell-eee-ott. I’ll be right heerrre.”
June 11, 2010 at 9:41 pm
No doubt Al, it truly is amazing how quickly he turned around from being portrayed as a scumbag to now being viewed as a credible journalist-of-sorts. doesn’t say much for the journalist-world at all. Maybe he can share a cell with Nancy.
June 11, 2010 at 9:51 pm
Let’s be fair here, kids. Spitzer paid for some noogy; Grace drove a girl to suicide.
June 11, 2010 at 9:53 pm
– noogy? –
What’s Bill Murray got to do with this?
June 11, 2010 at 10:14 pm
-Noogy-
I don’t give a rat’s where Spitzer parked his willy or which meter maid collected the toll. As NY Attorney General and Governor, his dirty politics hurt quite few regular folk for no good reason.
June 11, 2010 at 10:18 pm
You are right on target Al.
June 11, 2010 at 10:20 pm
For the record, Al, I agree with your issues with his conflicts as AG and Governor. I just have a problem with ‘luv guv’ being grouped with ‘got a girl killed’.
June 11, 2010 at 10:46 pm
This is ridiculous! For starters HLN is not CNN (even though they are sold together).
For those acting like the annoying Nancy Grace is responsible for that girls death. LOL This stupid case should have already been thrown out.
Ahhhh, Ducket didn’t like some of the harsh questioning. Well, she shouldn’t have gone on the show. Why wouldn’t she take a lie detector? Why was she so evasive about where she was? How come she was the police’s chief suspect?
She probably killed herself because she knew she was “busted”. A guilty conscience and most likely knowing the jig was up did her in.
June 11, 2010 at 10:55 pm
It’s OK for you to remain uninformed about the facts of the Duckett case you obviously are still oblivious of, and the crimes that CNN committed against Duckett, there starbroker. I just choose to remain on the factual side of the tracks.
June 12, 2010 at 6:59 am
michellefrommadison, having nuts like Bill oreilly and glenn beck on the payroll isn’t something to be proud of either. spitzer belongs at fox..fox all the way!
June 12, 2010 at 9:29 pm
1. I’m with starbroker 100% on the Nancy Grace thing. So Michelle et al, please tell us of the “inside story” as to how Nancy compelled Ms. Duckett to kill herself. From what I remember, Nancy asked questions the majority of us wanted answered, and when Duckett would not respond, Nancy went off on her.
Remember, a child’s life was in question here, and his own mother was evasive and unwilling to be forthright. Nancy showed more concern for the child than did his own mother.
June 12, 2010 at 11:03 pm
Wrong again Missy, but at least you are consistent are being incorrect and uninformed to the facts of the Nancy Grace crime.
June 13, 2010 at 4:06 am
From our perspective, the Luv Guv belongs in prison because that’s where he eagerly put people whom he pursued and prosecuted for the very same things he got caught doing.
If it was good enough for him to build his career as a hardass prosecutor who went after johns, then it’s good enough for him to be prosecuted and, if convicted, do the same amount and type of time.
Other than that, we despise him for the indelible mental images of him naked except for black socks, that we’ll never, ever erase from our minds’ eyes. That, and the knowledge that his “high-powered” wife is a spineless nitwit.
June 13, 2010 at 9:35 am
michelle, what an idiotic response from you!
I asked you to TELL ME what was erroneous in my assumptions in this case, and all you can do is complain that I’m wrong.
Fine. So tell me the facts as you believe them!
June 13, 2010 at 11:17 am
Do your own fact-finding Missy, it is not our job to provide you your needed education you lack. Why you are so lazy is your problem, not ours. But, have a great and fantastic day.
June 13, 2010 at 1:00 pm
Got it, Missy? It’s not michelle’s job to provide any proof or evidence of what she’s saying, it’s your job to ‘educate’ yourself until you agree with her. Get your mind right!
June 13, 2010 at 1:35 pm
That’s right Laura, thank you. Once she investigates and finds collaborating facts and evidence, she will see that I am one hundred percent accurate and correct. Lazy people are definitely high maintenance.
June 13, 2010 at 2:10 pm
– she will see that I am one hundred percent –
And arrogant people have nothing to contribute. But thanks for playing!
June 13, 2010 at 2:16 pm
– On the other hand.. –
How bored are we, snarking over BS on a Sunday? Can I get an Amen!
June 13, 2010 at 2:33 pm
Amen Laura, but I wouldn’t call you arrogant and non-contributing. I think it is swell you compliment me so often, but no thanks are really necessary.
June 13, 2010 at 2:37 pm
Flattery will get me everywhere.
June 13, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Michelle, if you are making claims and someone disputes them and asks for proof, it’s up to you to provide it.
It’s not anyone else’s responsibility to chase down half-assed nonsense that may (or may not) back up your claims.
June 13, 2010 at 4:54 pm
I think Bush was a terrible president, and Sarah Palin is a bonehead. I refuse to submit evidence of these claims. I am very arrogant.
What the hell are you guys babbling about today?
June 13, 2010 at 5:06 pm
^ Such a lovable jackass.
June 13, 2010 at 5:09 pm
^ Ditto.
June 13, 2010 at 5:14 pm
^ Smartass
June 13, 2010 at 5:44 pm
Well, Joe, you’re a special case…
June 13, 2010 at 8:32 pm
Facts remain the facts no matter how lazy people are to verify them themselves, fyi.
June 13, 2010 at 10:27 pm
Michelle, my dear, I support your contention about The Evil Miss Grace, but “look it up, you lazy bums” isn’t much of a debating tool. “Educate yourself” is a particularly condescending retort. My usual response to that goes something like “educate this“, if you know what I mean..
Oh..I almost forgot…:-)
June 13, 2010 at 10:28 pm
Dang..ironic smiley didn’t work.
June 13, 2010 at 11:46 pm
Not looking to debate anyone joeremi, my dear, just to inform others of proven facts.
June 13, 2010 at 11:49 pm
Gee, when did they install that brick wall in here?
June 13, 2010 at 11:56 pm
brick wall laura1? Is there something you still need help with understanding?
June 13, 2010 at 11:59 pm
– something you still need help with understanding? –
Yes. Why you’re such a waste of space.
June 14, 2010 at 12:14 am
Yes actually I do need some help Laura1 to better understand why you never got yourself educated well enough to possess multiple degrees and professional licenses. What specifically was it made you give up on yourself? And, I don’t believe that you are a waste of time either, perhaps just a bit uninformed, but not a waste, no one is imo.
June 14, 2010 at 12:29 am
multiple degrees and professional licenses
Hey, debating is fine. Bizarro references to your rarefied educational status, or a perceived lack of same on the part of others, is a bit much.
June 14, 2010 at 12:55 am
Many uninformed people attack those that are better-informed and better-educated, there joeremi. That’s probably where the saying to-kill-the-messenger came from, and your comments proves my point. And, joeremi, you are welcome for that lesson and no charge either.
June 14, 2010 at 9:47 am
Many uninformed people attack those that are better-informed and better-educated…
I loves me some irony..
