I didn’t catch Olbermann last night but heard second-hand that he gave O’Reilly a hard time about Aniston and mentioned O’Reilly was beaten as a child.
Was this Olbermann crossing some new line, or was this just another clumsy and obvious effort by Keith to get into a new pissing war with Bill?
ATLANTA (AP) — A possible suspect in a string of 20 stabbings that terrorized people across three states and left five dead was arrested at an airport as he tried to board a plane for Israel, officials said Thursday.
The man was arrested late Wednesday and was being held on unrelated charges, police in Leesburg, Va., said.
He was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport where he was trying to board a Delta Air Lines flight to Tel Aviv, Israel, said Rafael Lemaitre, a spokesman at U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The man has ties to Flint, Mich., where the attacks began May 24, and to Leesburg, the site of three similar attacks last week, Leesburg Police Officer Chris Jones said.
He is an Israeli citizen who is in the U.S. legally, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the ongoing investigation.
The victims have been mostly black, and police have suspected the attacks may have been racially motivated. The youngest victim was 17; the oldest was 60. They ranged in size from 5-foot-4 inches and 120 pounds to 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds.
So, its “Israeli on Black” crime and he even butchered a 17 year old kid? Wow.
Stevemg, it doesn’t matter his reasoning. All that matters is what he did, where he’s from, and his destination when caught. Its called connect the dots and let ‘em fall where they may.
I didn’t catch Olbermann last night but heard second-hand…
I saw it. Then I saw it on Mediaite. Then I saw 130 comments on it there. Apparently there’s still people out there who have an interest in the goings on in cable news, but they’re not here.
KO’s behavior was sad. One night after a brilliant Special Comment taking on Obama and Gibbs for being whining, wishy-washy Fox-appeasers, he pulls this highly unpleasant stunt. Not only is O’Reilly’s abusive p**ck of a father not fair game, it didn’t even have any connection to the silly story Keith was complaining about.
Where is the evidence that his nationality played a role in his terrible acts?
We’re not even that far into it. “Israeli Warrior” could turn out to be “Israeli released for lack of evidence”. I have no idea what you are popping off about, Terance.
Oh goodie, now I get to be hassled for asking people to pay attention to what I’m actually saying again. I can’t tell you what that means to me..
Steve, my comment was in defense of O’Reilly. Hence, the phrase “KO’s behavior was sad”. And yes, the Obama administration are wusses about right-wing criticism. Bush & Cheney knew how to handle people who didn’t support their POV: “So?”
It would if he were from Saudi Arabia or Egypt or Sudan etc.
BINGO.
Or France or German or Russia. E.g., “Russian Held as Suspect in Serial Murders” would be used.
You guys seem to be reaching (pro-Israel press?) for something that I just can’t grasp.
Steve: My point was this is not being pushed as a big story in the press and his being from Israel is not really being played up.
If he were from a Muslim or Arab country we would be hearing the whole jihad angle from the media and all the pundits would be saying it’s a giant Muslim terrorist threat to the country.
…all the pundits would be saying it’s a giant Muslim terrorist threat to the country.
Yes, and that would be a reasonable assessment. We can’t require the media to be so “fair and balanced” as to completely ignore history. If a guy reported to be white by witnesses stabs 20 black people, the police can reasonably state that a racial motivation is suspected; if a Muslim did it, terrorism is also not a reach, based on our recent history with it.
Blago’s gonna skate. The defense’s contention that he’s just a blowhard who talks a lot appears to be a little hard for any juror with a television to ignore, dontcha think?
“Yes, and that would be a reasonable assessment. We can’t require the media to be so “fair and balanced” as to completely ignore history. That’s true but the level of coverage would not be that same; as would it not if it were a black man stabbing 20 whites. The fear factor ‘scary Muslim or scary black man’ would dictate much heavier coverage in the media.
This story is been played without any real other motive than it’s a major crime story. As Steve says his being Israel is not being played up at all as far as I can see.
And as far as I can see, Fritz: we agree on both sides of that coin, and Terance has retracted his “Israeli Warrior” tag, so the topic seems to have crashed and burned.
^i was thinking more along the lines of Foghorn Leghorn– sounds like our friend Terance has a problem with our allies the Joos– any bets on who the Israeli’s fight first?– Hezzbollah in Lebanon or bomb, bomb, bomb… bomb, bomb Iran within the next 6 months?
Well just when you don’t think KO can get any lower….he dose…this shot at O’Reilly shouldn’t be allowed to stand but knowing MSNBC they’ll give him a big slap on the back.
As for the Israeli who stabbed some people..if we use the same standard used towards Muslims who commit murders(9/11) we must stress over and over how not all Israeli citizens are like this and plus it’s somehow our fault for making him do it.
-Israeli stabber-
Having a difficult time figuring out what the argument is about. Is it notable that he’s an Israeli? Sure, because he was grabbed attempting to fly to Tel Aviv and both CNN & Fox have reported the the fact.
Coverage of this white guy perp vs. a black guy perp? Are you serious? They’re covering it all over the place and every-which-way, so I don’t see what would be different. FNC has reported people in Israel say he’s been more out of control during recent visits and CNN reported that a store owner ion Flint says the guy used to be a “gentle” big man.
-CNN’s John Roberts & FNC’s Alan Colmes-
Listening to their shows on Sirius Radio, I’ve discovered that I can’t discern one voice from the other.
F&F is more morning-friendly and funny, especially when Kilmeade is on a roll. This morning while driving between hopsitals I needed “dull”, so I listened to CNN. Fortunately I was alone when I blurted out a bit too loudly, “WTF is Colmes doing on CNN?”
I’m allowed a few “stupid” moments. yeah, I take more than my daily allowance.
Speaking of cable news on the radio, on the way to lunch with my kid, I heard a bit on Megyn’s show about some GOPer criticizing Palin’s endorsements in local campaigns, specifically the governor’s race in GA. She had a woman named Angela on, a truly fascinating individual. The first sentence out of her mouth included the phrases “race bait, blame game” for Dems, and “RINO” for Republicans. Later there was something about how she would have won election to such-and-such if Sarah had campaigned for her earlier. The rest was unintelligible screeching. I don’t know who that was, but I don’t think a little more parachuted campaigning by a reality show star would have helped..
Angela McGlowan. You’ve probably seen her on Red Eye. Cute as all heck, but she was a bit ‘on’ today. She’s the exact type that you’d expect YouBetcha to endorse.
^ Angela – Classy-cute. No exposed parts. Very charming, very likable. Vaguely Christian. Exhibits the inadvertent humor of someone who honestly doesn’t know what a ‘hook-up’ is, as opposed to the Friel-type ‘just plain dumb’-moments.
Well, I’m glad y’all think she’s so adorable, but she acted like an idiot today. Anybody whose first sentence includes an accusation of race-baiting against the left, and “fake conservatism” against the right, has no business screeching on my radio.

Translation: Israeli Warrior kills Americans..
Did he commit the murders in the name of Israel? Or on behalf of Israel? Or in the cause of Israel?
Another translation: Terance is not thinking straight.
August 12, 2010 at 8:17 am
Another shameful part of the story:
The victims have been mostly black, and police have suspected the attacks may have been racially motivated. The youngest victim was 17; the oldest was 60. They ranged in size from 5-foot-4 inches and 120 pounds to 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds.

Stevemg, it doesn’t matter his reasoning.
If it doesn’t matter then why identify him, as you want to, as “Israeli Warrior Kills Americans”?
Where is the evidence that his nationality played a role in his terrible acts? And where is the evidence that he’s a “warrior”?
I can see as a headline: “Israeli Citizen Held as Suspect in Murders”; but the warrior identification has no merit.
From the stories I’ve read, he’s a suspect that they’ve captured and they’re trying to figure out the rest about the crimes.
To make any other judgments then those right now is reaching.

Stevemg, since he has dual citizenship and was heading to Israel.. That makes him an Israeli Warrior in my book.
For the record, I didn’t mean to imply the Israeli government instructed him to use his dual citizenship to kill blacks and a 17 year old.
August 12, 2010 at 8:41 am
Where is the evidence that his nationality played a role in his terrible acts?

So, his late father can be smeared based on allegations in a book written by an O’Reilly hater?
And Gibbs and Obama are Fox sycophants?
Whatever happened to that self-described “reasonable liberal” who went by the name joeremi?
Somebody’s using his ID.
August 12, 2010 at 8:45 am
“Where is the evidence that his nationality played a role in his terrible acts?”
It would if he were from Saudi Arabia or Egypt or Sudan etc.
August 12, 2010 at 8:47 am
That makes him an Israeli Warrior in my book.
Why doesn’t he dual nationality make him an “American-Israeli Warrior”?
And somebody who kills unarmed people is hardly a warrior.
I have no idea as to what your point it. Why not just come out with it directly?
August 12, 2010 at 8:52 am
It would if he were from Saudi Arabia or Egypt or Sudan etc.
Sorry, no: the story would not read “Egyptian Warrior Kills Americans” as Terance suggests. “Egyptian Citizen”? Yes. But not “Egyptian Warrior”.
As I noted, “Israeli Citizen Held as Suspect in Murders” would be perfectly fine.
Trying to equate this story with attacks from radical Islamists simply won’t work.
August 12, 2010 at 8:53 am
It would if he were from Saudi Arabia or Egypt or Sudan etc.
BINGO.
Concerning my earlier Israeli Warrior label.. I have thought about it and Stevemg is right and I’m wrong.
Why doesn’t he dual nationality make him an “American-Israeli Warrior”?
I always thought nationally defaults to the country of origin.
August 12, 2010 at 8:59 am
It would if he were from Saudi Arabia or Egypt or Sudan etc.

Wouldn’t “Israeli on Black” hate crimes be a huge story if it was reversed? Of course it would.
Isn’t there a certain commenter around here that says, “BO always looks out for the children”?
Let me guess.. All the children expect for Black ones murdered by an Israeli.
