Read something on Mediaite about Olbermann’s very sad attempt at humor at Beck’s expense.
How bad was it?
Also, is NBC news concerned when its top cable guy is tweeting vigorously about Beck’s 87,000 crowd only to have its top network guy tell President Obama that the network’s estimate is 300,000?
Different topic altogether. I watched Gibbs on Fox & Friends this morning, and the absolute disdain that he had for Carlson and she had for him made for great television. That said, if I were the White House, I would impose another blackout on Fox or I would push Gibbs out the door.
He looked smug and condescending when faced with hostile questions, and as press secretary, he should be better prepared to handle such an interrogation.
Frank Luntz guest on FBN -Imus In The Morning, Hawking GM products on Imus In the Morning.
Connell McShane actually ask Frank Luntz are you being paid to say that? I wonder if Imus or Neil Cavuto know he is using Imus’s program to hawk GM product, and disparage Toyota…Does Toyota buy spots on FBN and FNC?
I get why Imus and All, give Frank Luntz such a hard time when he is a guest on the show.
Carlson: “Excuse me. Back in 2007 he said he was against the surge.”
Gibbs: “No. He said he was against the surge. He said there was no doubt that adding 20,000 men and women would improve the security situation. But, as we know, our efforts in Iraq weren’t going to be done simply militarily, Gretchen. There had to be a political accommodation.”
Here’s the truth with video

Obama in 2007 ON MSNBC: “I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there. In fact, it will do the reverse….”
I wonder if Mr. Community Organizer will mention that the agreement to withdraw combat troops was signed under Bush.
^I think they should erect a 50′ statue of GWB to mark the anniversary of the final troop pull out from Iraq next year.
The best location I could think of is where they pulled down that statue of Saddam Hussein at the start of the war in downtown Baghdad.

I have video posted of this interview in case anyone wants to see it, along with audio of Gretchen defending herself over how she conducted it. Clicking on my name above will take you to the site. (I don’t usually plug my own stuff here, but every rule has an exception…)
What’s the name of the baby on Family Guy? That’s the character-vibe I’m getting from Olbermann. So appropriate, given the ‘baby blanket’-reference. O’Donnell must have been proud to participate.
It’s a ‘Beck v Hannity’-slamdown on Mediaite (was there a typo when they registered that name?). Won’t we all recall where we stood if ‘The Hair’ is toppled by ‘The Tear’.
^ I noticed that when I accidentally left FNC on after being bored into a drunken stupor by The Beck Factor last night. Hannity had Sarah Palin on, yet neither one of them mentioned the Reclaiming Civil Rights For Mormons rally she had just attended.
The TV’s barely audible in the background, Ed Schultz is interviewing Anthony Weiner, and I hear Ed say the phrase “Fox News”..which begs the question: why are liberals on a liberal-leaning network constantly promoting FNC? I hear more about Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity from MSNBC than I do from Fox!
We get it; FNC has big ratings and says crazy stuff. Shut up already. Maybe if the left would focus a little more on their message, the right-wing’s talking points wouldn’t continue to drive the narrative so much. Newsflash, libs: We have the White House and both houses of Congress. If aliens landed right now, would they know that?
Maybe his goal was to be introduced on cable news shows as “and former presidential candidate” and didn’t think he’d be the one stuck drawing the short straw.

“How bad was it?”
It was uncomfortably embarrassing.

It was bad… Gretchen Carlson nailed Robert Gibbs.
Carlson: “Excuse me. Back in 2007 he said he was against the surge.”

Stuey, I think, which is funny because KO loves that show and has played himself on it. Yes, the Beck segment was abysmal.

Civil rights for Mormons?

Hmm, odd speech by the President.
I liked the content – if you read it, it’s pretty good. Hit all the right marks and his mentioning of Bush was perfect.
But the delivery was as if he was explaining a life insurance policy to you.
Weird.

It’s just the way he talks now. Becoming president killed the guy.
August 31, 2010 at 7:42 pm
Was there a speech tonight?

Yeppers.

-Weird-
I don’t think he’s at all comfortable being POTUS.
August 31, 2010 at 8:30 pm
^ He has much company.
August 31, 2010 at 8:31 pm
I’m not comfortable being POTUS, either. Fortunately..

Barack Obama, Inauguration Day: “Yes we can!”
President Obama, the morning after: “Oh CRAP!”

I guess on CNN it would be ”Former Vice-Presidential Candidate Barak Obama”..
