  1. TVNEWSER, last week, quietly broke some news regarding MSNBC’s daytime programming. They revealed that Chris Jansing will join Richard Liu in a newly-titled program that will air from 10am to Noon EST. This is some great news for MSNBC fans (like myself) and it can become a strong point in MSNBC’s daytime scheduling with a veteran like Chris Jansing and a fresh face like Richard Liu. Chris Jansing has been doing an extraordinary job anchoring the past few months. She has a great persona and will finally have someone to bounce off of with Richard Liu. Richard has also started anchoring a couple of hours last week. He is strong and better than most of MSNBC’s on hand talents (Novatny, Witt…). I’m surprised he wasn’t better utilized over at CNN. I just hope they don’t get infected with the “TWITTER” and start desperately pleading for viewers to “TWEET them what they think.”
TVNEWSER also stated that Contessa Brewer will continue anchoring the 12pm EST hour and Andrea Mitchell Reports is here to stay. Finally, Tamron Hall will take the 2pm hour with a newly-titled program. And Martin Bashir will host a new 3pm EST program.
First off, it’s dissappointing to see MSNBC still drag out Andrea Mitchell Reports. Simply put, it is NOT good programming. I understand that Mitchell is highly respected at the NBC family and giving her, her own hour is a consolation prize but the show is and always has been a dud. MSNBC can put as much frosting on this burnt cake as they want, but at its core it’s still burnt cake—and nobody enjoys it. I have an idea to get MSNBC out of this Catch-22, Give Andrea her own Sunday Morning Show—after Meet the Press. They can hype it up and promote the heck out it, so it looks like a promotion. As for the 12 to 2pm hour, give it to Contessa Brewer and (anyone such as Norah O’Donnell or Thomas Roberts).
I liked Tamron Hall when she was at Chicago’s FOX Affiliate. But it seems she has lost her charm over the years @ MSNBC. Maybe she doesn’t feel appreciated being tossed around in different hours. Hopefully she can gain some of her MoJo back with her own, newly-titled program. I like the direction MSNBC is going but if they want to see significant changes they need to make significant and bold moves.
    Wellllll…..it looks like I hi-jacked Spud’s blog enough for today ;)

  2. That was interesting. There’s a fire underneath a commuter-train bridge in Harlem. Contessa interviewed an MTA spokeswoman who seemed very annoyed at being interviewed. Contessa: “Is the bridge itself at risk?” ‘Of course it is..there’s a fire underneath it (paraphrasing).’ I love New Yorkers..

  3. Andrea Mitchell can’t complete a sentence to save her life, but it’s a serious political hour with good guests..and a heck of a lot better than the shrieking blonde on FNC at that hour. I’ll take it.

  4. I’ll take the shrieking blonde over the serious blonde. But I think we can all agree that both are better than Ali Velshi.

  5. I doubt any of them are actually blonde.

  6. – shrieking blonde –

Megyn..it’s not not like Jenna, where she hasn’t lived and has no clue (I swear, that woman hasn’t had a bad day in her life, and can’t even pretend to identify with those who have). It’s that every story-tease has a certain vibe to it, like ”Isn’t this exciting?” Whether it’s a dead family or the ‘outrage’ of the day, it’s all ”Oh, you’re gonna love this one..”. If I were a family-member, I think I’d feel soiled talking to the woman.

  7. I’ll take “serious sentence-mangler” over “never had a bad day” and “you won’t BELIEVE THIS” any day.

  8. There needs to be a shock applied when they say ‘Get this’. I’m listening. Just farking say it.

  9. ‘Get this’

Our Laura here is the one who ruined it for me with Julie Banderas. She says it all the time. And I notice it all the time..

  10. Jansing is right to protest. The “witchcraft” story has become a legitimate problem for O’Donnell. It’s not worthy of silly chyrons and goofy graphics.

  11. Oh my Lord! The Fox-ification of Gerri Willis continues. Just seen on The Fox Report, she looks like a college cheerleader. I can’t say it looks bad, but it’s creepy.

  12. Shooting at army base. No details yet.

  13. Apparently dressing appropriately at Foxy News is prohibited (unless if you’re a man). I can’t believe respected reporters like Catherine Herridge and Jennifer Griffin wore skimpy clothes. It makes it hard to take them seriously if they’re on-air like that. I hope they don’t force their two women foreign correspondents to dress less formal.

Here’s another item to add to the list of questionable funding from George Soros. He helped fund a US group, Avaaz to interfere with the elections of another country.

Sadly, this never made news until now, another item proving left-wing bias is the dominant bias in the media around the world.

  14. I never saw Herridge or Griffin in skimpy outfits.

  15. George Soros blah blah blah. Paranoid horsecrap.

I never saw those women in “skimpy clothes” either, and that wasn’t my implication with Willis. It’s the increasingly blonder hair and glossier lips I notice. Fox News hair & makeup is a monster that won’t be denied.

  16. ^ A monster that watches too much porn..

  17. This took way too long to find.

It’s possible Herridge never wore skimpy outfits but when she anchored on Saturdays (I think) she was in the typical Fox skirt situations.
Then again, maybe they want to dress that way and it doesn’t seem inappropriate to them. What is considered appropriate is partly subjective so who knows.

  18. And only Fox does that with their female anchors/reporters? I have seen Chris Jansing on MJ several times and she is now a strawberry blonde with glossy lips and short skirts. Didn’t she used to be a brunette?

  19. And only Fox does that with their female anchors/reporters?

Not anymore, but they’re the leader in this area. Fox News: First in fake news; first in 45-year-old women who look 25.

  20. I distinctly recall Herridge in a skirt so short that she was visibly uncomfortable. Like, more concerned about an upskirt than any possible teleprompter issues.

  21. Re: Jennifer Griffin’s attire in Outsider’s clip. I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she picked that out herself because “I beat cancer and I’ll wear whatever I damn please.”

  22. I thought the same thing when I saw Griffin. ”I got no hair and fake ones, but this looks good.”

  23. “Not anymore, but they’re the leader in this area. Fox News: First in fake news; first in 45-year-old women who look 25.” – joeremi

Not ANYMORE? Are you serious? ABC’s Barbara Walters ALWAYS looked her natural age; no facelifts there. And she looks 81 now, right?

  24. Come on, Carol..you’re nitpicking (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Of course women in news have always been encouraged to “hot it up” (see the scene between Jane Fonda and producer in The China Syndrome, 1979), but FNC has amped it up to insane levels. Jamie Colby, Laura Ingraham and now Gerri Willis look like freakin’ Britney Spears. On a base “guy level”, I’m not unappreciative, but another part of my brain knows it’s just wrong.

  25. Laura Ingraham? I don’t see anything “Britney Spears” about her at all. In fact, sometimes I think she dresses a little too conservatively.

  26. Carol, it’s the face and hair I’m talking about. “White-blonde, shiny lips”. I’m not going to detail why I know this, but it’s a particularly “porn” look. “Porn chic”, they call it..and FNC loves it. It may look reasonable on someone Courtney Freil’s age, but they’re doing it to women in their mid-40s, which strikes me as just a little demeaning. It has a “what the boss wants, the boss gets” feel to it.

  27. Almost every woman on cable, and even network news, has those glossy lips and blonde hair; it’s not just FNC.

  28. Carol Carol Carol, this thread is two days old, and I’m sure you’ve long since forgotten everything I’ve said about this relatively insignificant but mildly entertaining topic. FNC is the driver of the increasing pornification of female news anchors. I’m not saying they’re the only ones; I’m saying they’re the ones that push the others. Fox is the Hustler to MSNBC’s Penthouse and CNN’s Playboy. (I lifted that from someone else. Jon Stewart, maybe. Don’t blame me ;-) )
