Behar on O’Reilly…
I wasn’t going to write about the O’Reilly incident on The View. It happened off of cable news and, honestly, I hate the idea of giving The View the time of day when it’s so obvious that this is exactly what that show craves by doing stuff like this. But it appears Joy Behar is going to address this incident tonight on her HLN show, which of course sets up the possibility of some HLN/FNC crossfire between the two prognosticators and that’s definitely in my domain. Here’s a preview video via CNN…
October 14, 2010 at 4:28 pm
You know your in uncharted territory when Joy interviews Jessie Ventura about ‘ the incident’ and he sounds more rational than either Joy or Billo.
October 14, 2010 at 4:56 pm
How many of the “Top 5 Stories” will be about this?
Priorities!
October 14, 2010 at 5:49 pm
All I know is Jessie V thinks 9/11 was an inside job – therefore he is a kook (IMHO).
October 14, 2010 at 7:13 pm
And Olbermann, typically, says ‘blah blah’ and ‘blah blah blah’.

Woman gets mad at man for saying something stupid, throws a fit, storms out of room. No one cares.
October 14, 2010 at 8:23 pm
Dennis Miller just tore Jesse Ventura apart over his 9/11 conspiracy theories on http://www.dennismillerradio.com Great job on Dennis’ part.
October 14, 2010 at 8:28 pm
Other than that he has lots of radio time to kill, why the hell is Miller bothering with that clown?
Also, why did the buildings implode like a controlled demolition, why were explosions heard just before the first one collapsed, and why did Building 7 implode exactly the same way 8 hours later? Never mind..
October 14, 2010 at 8:34 pm
Joe just look up Popular Mechanics and 9/11 and they address and destroy all the Truthers bs theory’s.
October 14, 2010 at 8:44 pm
I’ve read it, Mlong. It’s a good article. I’m not a truther..more of a “questioner”. I was driving to work and heard the collapses on the radio, so I had a picture in my mind of how two buildings that tall would fall. Straight down into their own footprints like a casino demolition in Vegas was not what I was expecting. My first reaction when I saw the video at work was, “That’s a demolition.” It probably wasn’t, but that first hugely shocking impression is hard to shake.
October 14, 2010 at 9:57 pm
Joe, you’re sounding eerily similar to a “truther”. You’ve repeatedly demonstrated your misguided hate for GWB; I hope that hate doesn’t lead you to some ridiculous ideas about what happened on 9/11.
October 14, 2010 at 10:07 pm
I think we “non-engineering” folk, should leave the talk of what imploding buildings should and shouldn’t do to the professionals… lest we begin to belive our uninformed assuptions are based in reality.
October 14, 2010 at 10:14 pm
LS, my disdain for GWB is based on his terrible reign as President. It has nothing to do with questions I have about 9/11, based on my reaction to the video I saw when I got to work.
I’m not a “truther” in the sense that I have no allusions to their crazy notions of the government being involved. Is it that hard to imagine that the lunatic Muslims that orchestrated such an oerwhelming attack on our country managed to get exlposives inside the buildings? Pre-9/11, we lived in a world in which security was very lax. Maybe they got in there..I don’t know.
I just have problems with two buildings going straight down like that. It’s very likely that I’m stuck with my first impression, and the fact that we have no precedent for how those two planes hitting them would affect them means that I have no basis to know what to expect. It bothers me, that’s all.
October 14, 2010 at 10:16 pm
Which is another way of saying..Blue is right.
October 14, 2010 at 11:09 pm
As I mentioned before, Behar fits the stereotype of a liberal to a tee. She is so disgusted that BOR says that “muslims attacked us on 9/11″ that she storms off the set. Yet, on her show who does she have on to discuss the incident with her? Someone who believes the US gov’t attacked us on 9/11. Basically, terrorists good, United States bad.
She’s dumber than a box of rocks. My apologies to every box of rocks.
October 14, 2010 at 11:25 pm
outside of babs, they’re all a bunch of tools. they probably even planned the whole segment out beforehand.
off topic: why is dennis miller remotely relevant?
October 14, 2010 at 11:36 pm
First of all, the questioning of what happened on 9/11 doesn’t have to do with GWB necessarily… it’s more about the mistrust of government, which is why a conservative/libertarian like Alex Jones wants investigations into it and is heading the whole operation of 9/11 conspiracies. He has concerns about the Obama administration and their supposed takeover of the world’s currency, and whatnot, as well.
So, all this crap about 9/11 truthers being liberal is patently absurd. By the way, Judge Napalitano… yes, the one from Fox News regularly goes on Jones’ program and discusses conspiracies with him. Jones even says a lot of the stuff that he’s been warning people about is what Glenn Beck is spouting right now. So, this is not attached to one political side, it’s about distrust of the government from both sides.
October 14, 2010 at 11:52 pm
The vast majority of “truthers” are liberals. There may be a few libertarians out there that believe it as well, but the majority of people you hear questioning what happened on 9/11 are whack job lefties.
October 14, 2010 at 11:53 pm
Dennis Miller is relevant because he’s freaking hilarious. BTW, I’ve been a fan of his since before he found conservatism.
October 15, 2010 at 2:45 am
JOY BE HARD TO WATCH. … I just can not keep the show on longer than 5 minutes. Is she a x school teacher? If so it is a wonder our kids education needs to be overhauled!!
I wish Cnn would have a show to counter Maddow and Hannity.. both hard to watch shows
October 15, 2010 at 5:50 am
Dennis Miller’s radio show is very funny. It’s a great break from cable news. Try it – you’ll like it!
October 15, 2010 at 6:15 am
Joy Behar & her show = Nails on a chalkboard
I’ve seen her on The View & her show on HLN enough to last a lifetime.
I’ll trust the engineers @ Purdue University over Behar, Rosie, Ventura, & the other truthers whose collective intellect is minimal, at best.
October 15, 2010 at 8:18 am
I specifically pointed out Sharron Angle as “dumber than a box of rocks”, and Palin (obviously) in the past. I also pointed out that Newt is intelligent, so I don’t know where you got “all conservatives are stupid” from me. But you called Joy Behar dumb. Why do you think all liberals are dumb?
October 15, 2010 at 8:38 am
^ Ack, I hate it when I do that. This response is to LS on the Debate thread.
October 15, 2010 at 9:42 am
“I’ve read it, Mlong. It’s a good article. I’m not a truther..more of a “questioner”. From all that I have read and heard, that was the way the buildings were built – so that they would, in the event of any catastrophe, fall straight down and into their own footprints. Much safer that way. Imagine if the buildings had fallen sideways? I think most tall buildings that were built around the time of the Twin Towers, were built that same way.
October 15, 2010 at 10:24 am
^ That’s interesting, Carol. I had never read that. I didn’t even know “how it would fall” was considered by engineers. I’ll look into it.

I’ve never heard that, although perhaps because the issue seems ridiculous to me. You would think that that angle would get more play, what with all the ‘controversy’ around it. Not that it would make a difference for most of them, but I think that there’s a lot of ‘doubters’ among the ‘truthers’.
October 15, 2010 at 10:48 am
The problem with issues like that is that much like ‘birthers’, it’s fully identified with the whack-jobs, the people who’ll never be dissuaded. Every conspiracy theory, whether Kennedy or 9/11, develops into a cottage-industry or a mental-disorder.
October 15, 2010 at 11:06 am
This doesn’t necessarily apply to me because I question how the towers fell, not that they fell at all, but in general, these types of conspiracy theories are often born of the question, “How could such insignificant forces have created that much damage?”
It’s hard to accept that one idiot in a building in Texas could pull off killing a President and changing the course of history. Similarly, some crazy Muslims manage to fly planes into buildings. You see it on TV and think, “Man, that’s really bad. They’re gonna have to get the rest of those people out and fix those holes.” What you don’t expect is that the whole skyline is going to come down, taking the rest of the occupants – including the heroes who ran in to save them – with it. It’s difficult to accept that Bin Laden just got lucky.
October 15, 2010 at 11:14 am
Some explanations of why the towers collapsed into themselves (on the first link scroll down to THE COLLAPSE; on the second link scroll down to COLLAPSE INITIATION and TOTAL PROGRESSIVE COLLAPSE):

October 15, 2010 at 11:20 am
Just curious; but how do truthers explain away the plains crashing into the towers if something else brought them down? I remember seeing a doc about how the plane that hit the Pentagon was some kind of missile but the the Towers not falling sideways is new to me.
This truther business is less like the Kennedy assassination; which was the subject of legitimate debate for decades; and more like the men landing on the moon was really done on a sound stage in NJ urban myth.

Yeah.
October 15, 2010 at 12:10 pm
Almost all high rise building of that era are built the same way…they would all likely collapse once the very thin steel trusses are heated they sag…then give way and the whole enterprise will then “pancake” one floor after the other. Each floor has thin sheet steel on the floor with 4 inches of concrete poured on it. Once the support goes soft….it simply drops like a book off your desk and slams into the next floor that wont hold the new load.
Bang….here it comes, bam, bam etc.
October 15, 2010 at 12:24 pm
Spud is gonna kill us for turning this into a “truther” thread. Hey, don’t look at me..it’s Jesse Ventura’s fault..
October 15, 2010 at 12:36 pm
Oh, please, Lonestar. Are you seriously going to ignore the existence of an admitted conservative like Alex Jones to claim that “majority” of truthers are “lefties”? Jesse Ventura believes in them, too… and he ran as a Republican for Governor. Can you even point to one liberal that believes 9/11 was an inside job? And, no, Van Jones doesn’t count because he didn’t believe that 9/11 was an inside job. He had the same doubts many people had about 9/11, where the Bush administration already had knowledge about attacks happening inside the U.S.
October 15, 2010 at 2:00 pm
“Jesse Ventura believes in them, too… and he ran as a Republican for Governor.”
Jesse Ventura ran on the Reform Party ticket. I’m not aware of Jesse Ventura’s work on behalf of the Republican Party, but perhaps you can enlighten us on that.
“Can you even point to one liberal that believes 9/11 was an inside job?”
Rosie O’Donnell. Former (D) Congressman Hamburg. Jeneane Garafolo. Mike Gravel (D). And, yes, Van Jones, who wanted to know who was really ‘in control’ of the hijacked planes, and wanted (another) investigation of the WTC collapse’.
That’s more than one, but I was feeling prolific.
October 15, 2010 at 2:08 pm
Y’all are idiots for turning this into a left/right debate. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
October 15, 2010 at 2:11 pm
‘Truthers’ lean left the way ‘birthers’ lean right. Polling shows it. Sorry if that offends.
October 15, 2010 at 2:18 pm
I don’t care. It’s a ridiculous stat to mention. I swear, the Tea Party scorch-and-dividers will use anything to attack their opponents. I’m sick of it.
October 15, 2010 at 2:21 pm
Oookay. Don’t know what the Hell that has to do with anything. Time to drop this subject.
October 15, 2010 at 2:31 pm
J$ reels off a list of liberal truthers, as if the political identity of a bunch of loons that think their own government would take down the World Trade Center is worth discussing. It’s bullsh!t to bring it up.
October 15, 2010 at 2:33 pm
Speaking of bs, how about saving your derangement over Tea Partiers for an area where it actually applies?
October 15, 2010 at 2:42 pm
Enough. My efforts to cut down on commenting here haven’t gone well, and I’m not good with feeling this angry. You kids have a good weekend, I gotta get outta here for a while.
October 15, 2010 at 3:21 pm
“J$ reels off a list of liberal truthers…It’s bullsh!t to bring it up.”
Well don’t jump down my throat about it. I didn’t bring it up.
And then as the discussion got going, I read a post that makes the preposterous claim that Jesse Ventura ran as a Republican, and sends the meter to ’11′ with a suggestion that there are no liberal 9/11 truthers…I step in to correct these untrue assertions.
FYI Joe, I don’t consider myself a Tea Partier (I don’t even drink the stuff!). I did consider myself correcting misinformation. To quote any number of prominent people: I apologize if I offended anyone.
October 15, 2010 at 3:26 pm
Eh, don’t mind me, J$. A bad place, I’m in. I’m sorry.
October 15, 2010 at 3:28 pm
You’re nuts, but we like you.
October 15, 2010 at 3:34 pm
Bless your heart. You’re right, and thank you.
October 15, 2010 at 7:36 pm
I stand corrected. For some reason I thought Ventura was a Republican… I think I may have seen an “(R)” next to his name on television once and mistook it for Republican. As for Mike Gravel, he has also run as a Libertarian. But, I digress… especially when getting into the liberal celebrities that believe the conspiracies, too. But there is a very tiny minority of current politicians who do.
No, Van Jones flat out denied agreeing with anything in the 9/11 petition that he signed. He stated, “As for the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever“. It wasn’t the best judgment to sign it, but he says he didn’t read the whole thing to truly concur with it.
I think the main point here is that this is not a purely and majority liberal movement. Do a lot of liberals think George Bush knew about the 9/11 attacks before they occurred (because of the August 6, 2001 PDB, warning of attacks inside of the US)? Sure… I concede on that, as would many liberals.
So, as JR said, how dare people make this into a left/right issue. It’s not based on party, it’s an opinion about government. And, let’s face it, it’s the conservatives who hate government more than liberals. That’s indisputable.
That’s my last post on this subject. Out of respect of Spud, I don’t want to flood his blog with 9/11 conspiracy talk anymore.
October 15, 2010 at 9:19 pm
I wasn’t talking about the petition he signed (and the fact that he disclaims knowledge really doesn’t disprove anything; it’s a question of whom you believe). I was talking about the 9/11 protest in San Francisco that he was one of the organizers for:
http://www.rense.com/general18/march.htm
Or maybe he didn’t know that his call for a new 9/11 inquiry was a call for a new 9/11 inquiry.
I too will say no more.
October 15, 2010 at 9:37 pm
I too will say no more. I say we all say we’ll say no more. Who’s with me?
October 15, 2010 at 9:39 pm
But if we say that then we’re saying something. What say you?
October 15, 2010 at 9:40 pm
Say no more.
October 15, 2010 at 9:42 pm
Just sayin’.
October 15, 2010 at 9:44 pm
^ We have a winner.
October 15, 2010 at 10:02 pm
No more.
I told you I would say it.
