Thinking about this kid in Seattle with the ‘bomb plot, and now I’m hearing that he was upset about his parent’s divorce. Whatever, the ‘reason’ is always stupid.
What I’ve been thinking lately is that ‘a bomb’ has become the new ‘thing’ that nuts want to do. It used to be (and still is) ”I’m having a bad day, so maybe if I shoot a bunch of people, it’ll make me feel better.” (you won’t find a ‘deeper’ reason. Kill them on scene and stop looking.). The coverage of all such incidents creates an impression, and that ‘impression’ perpetuates the activity. It’s unavoidable.
The thing about a bomb is that the ‘payoff’ may be greater, but the execution is tricky. Most people just don’t have the stuff (in any way you define it) to do it the right way.
A few months back, a guy flew a plane into a government building. I said to someone that it would have been much worse had he gone in there with a gun. As it was, one person was killed. My sense (hope?) is that the ‘nut with bomb’-scenario will turn-out similarly, but with the ‘one’ being the perpetrator.
Speaking of Fox and things that hack me off, is any other network giving free pub to this Atheist group and their stupid billboards? Anyone? I watch Fox way too much, and this just reeks of the ‘manufactured outrage’ that we hear so much about. Other subjects have at least debatable validity. The moral preening of the intellectually-superior should rate no notice beyond ‘opinion’ programs.

The problem is that one time, the terrorist who wants to set off the car bomb in the middle of Times Square won’t be a dunce and will cause major carnage.
Thus far, since 9/11, we’ve been fortunate in the terrorists who’ve tried to follow up have been ‘tards. Incompetent ‘tards, at that.
Still, I just want to hear from those here who thought that ASSange and Wikileaks are heroic whistleblowers, when all they were doing was humiliating our military with out of context video clips, edited with a heavy hand.
Laura isn’t talking about terrorism. She’s noticing that “crazed shooters” are mophing into “crazed bombers”.
Well, considering how DSH Sec. Bruno Napolitano conflates them into one and the same, every time she insists that they’re “lone wolves.” Before they are identified, of course.
Say, Joe, weren’t you one of those who was cheering on ASSange and Wikileaks?
I don’t understand the administration and media giving that douchebag so much attention. I realize it’s a real story, but everybody’s jumping on the IT’S A REALLY BIG STORY bandwagon. Not smart.
For the record, I love Judge Napolitano because he isn’t a shill for anything but the Constitution.
And tonight I’m going to be at a taping for an “On the Record” interview. I don’t want to say anything more… Its not that special just some congressmen speaking to an audience with Greta moderating.
Regardless of Nepolitano’s expressed viewpoint, he will earn comments from both sides of the spectrum. Personally, I am not fond of some of the points that he has made, but, I do appreciate that he at least bothers to try to explain his reasoning.
I prefer it when he expresses his own opinion and not just trying to follow the lead of his host.
I would probably enjoy a dinner conversation with the Judge.
The more I learn about Nepolitano, the more I like him. He has the one quality I also admire in Glenn Beck: he says exactly what he thinks..you deal with the fallout. Only, not crazy..
Well, it was certainly interesting seeing how these interviews go down, although it was awkward with a room full of hundreds of people, having to stay quite without being able to hear much unless you were in the front few rows. They couldn’t pipe the sound through speakers because the audio for TV would be bad. None of us actually went for the greta interview but for the Q&A and book signing afterward with Reps. Ryan, McCarthy, and Cantor. Interview airs tonight “On the Record.” I even recognized Debbie the Makeup lady (Greta’s makeup person who makes appearances on her blog).
I like Judge Napolitano. And when he says something about a legal case that I don’t particularly like it isn’t from a partisan political perspective, it’s his reading of the law and the constitution. He’s also quite capable of being a realist. More than once he’s opined about the law and said something like, “I firmly believe that (such and such) is an unconstitutional abuse of power. But I have to tell you, if I was still sitting on the bench I would rule in favour of the government because the Supreme Court has already ruled on this issue.”
Pvt. Manning, if properly convicted, should receive the harshest penalty available. I keep hearing “treason” but doubt that would fly. Julian Assange should disappear and never be heard from again. And somebody who had the responsibility of ensuring computer security but didn’t restrict downloading access should be redeployed digging ditches in Antarctica.
Since when are CDs allowed to be brought into secure locations? WTF? And not just so things can’t be stolen – they can be used to install a virus. Freakin’ stupid.
Changing subjects, I wish to point out that someone on Jon Stewart’s staff seems to have a strong attraction to either Jansing & Co or Chris Jansing or both. I contend that this is a very good thing. Just saying…………
I’m sure she “handles” a career by “raising” eight kids with a decent amount of money, which provides a decent amount of help. Nothing wrong with it, but not unduly impressive.
Look Gutfeld, if you want to put a pretty singer on Red Eye to do a pretty Christmas song, fine, but it’s Katherine McPhee. You knew going in she wouldn’t be funny or have a single coherent thought, so why did you put her on the panel? SE Cupp was on Hannity earlier, looking perky and vapid, so she was in the building..
E.D. Hill: Had a preventative double mastectomy since family history said her chances were very high for breast cancer. She had this surgery shortly after she left Fox. Don’t know if this had a bearing on her departure or not. Opinion: I liked her on Fox & Friends, thought she did “ok” as an anchor and hope she finds a place on TV again. though not sure taking on ES is the place you want to be for a big comeback.

That’s nice. But it has nothing to do with his “truther” tendencies, and THAT is what makes him a crackpot.

And to those who used to crow about what a wonderful thing Julian ASSange and Wikileaks do, we hope you’re proud of yourselves now.

Yea a accused rapist trying to help Terrorist in their war against the west..yep big hero.

WikiLeaks has certainly been a huge story today. I especially took notice of two segments on FNC today, since they were on foxnews.com and youtube.

are heroic whistleblowers
Stay tuned for that libertarian Judge guy on FNC (can’t think of his name).

Set your DVRs. Shep is promoting the Afghan war doc Restrepo, on Nat Geo tonight. I’ve heard much good about this film.

Has this been mentioned before? CNN is running a “Keeping Them Honest” ad that targets FNC and MSNBC.

E.D. Hill: The Parker-Spitzer filler-in-er.
November 29, 2010 at 11:14 pm
^ She’ll give it the old “terrorist fist jab” effort.
November 29, 2010 at 11:16 pm
Jab it right into Spitzer’s face.
November 29, 2010 at 11:20 pm
She’ll draw an audience.
November 29, 2010 at 11:25 pm
I don’t think the world is clamoring for E.D. Hill.
November 29, 2010 at 11:27 pm
More than for Parker, not that that’s a high bar.
November 29, 2010 at 11:30 pm
More people are clamoring for the return of Connie Chung than Parker..
November 29, 2010 at 11:31 pm
It wasn’t the fist-bump like people say. E.D. Hill had to go away so Megyn Kelly could have two hours everyday.
November 29, 2010 at 11:34 pm
I think Connie might win the ‘seedy partner’ contest. Maury has a longer resume, you should pardon the expression.
November 29, 2010 at 11:38 pm
Anybody who thinks E.D. was run off for the “fist jab” comment is nuts. That’s not the kind of thing FNC gets embarassed about.
November 30, 2010 at 12:02 am
^ Lotsa people are nuts. Eh?
Ms. Hill has quite a fan following. Many because she’s handled a career while raising eight kids. Of course that’s “only” eight kids to me.
November 30, 2010 at 12:06 am
