I saw this little bit of awesomeness when I woke up in the middle of the night. Reliable sources tell me comparing herself to “the actor Ronald Reagan”, and calling George H. W. and Barbara Bush “blue bloods trying to pick the candidates”, is not wearing well with conservatives. Sarah Palin’s ability to make everything about her, at the expense of anything that moves, is mindboggling.
^ And using the term ‘RiNO’ on people who criticize her ain’t wearing well either. I don’t want no ‘moderate’. I want someone with a brain. I don’t think that’s so much to ask.
Reagan was an ‘actor’. Obama does dopey stuff (ooh, let’s make that mistake again). So we’re not supposed to notice that she’s unable to express an intelligent, persuasive thought.
She keeps calling Reagan an ‘actor’, because that’s what she hears in the press and on the left. You know, the same people that we shouldn’t trust when they talk about her. She couldn’t tell you a damn thing significant about him, because she can’t be bothered to know. She certainly can’t be challenged to do any of the things that he did. Hell, she can’t be bothered to tell the difference between North and South Korea. He’s written more than she’s read.
Politics is an essay-question that she’s trying to bullsh!t her way through. She’s in a position to learn and do something positive, but she can’t be bothered. She’d rather whine about how the press treats her. At some point the behavior proves the press right. She’s past it.
She made Wikileaks about her book…dishonestly. She said she stopped the leak of her book, so why can’t Obama stop Assuange. Uh..no..Gawker printed parts of the book. She eventually got them to pull it, then released the book. She didn’t “prevent” anything.
Although I think the North and South Korea was misspoken I think you are right about everything else. I don’t think she is stupid but she is certainly not helping her cause. Luckily for her there is still some time to grow and wise up if she wants to run for national office but she really needs to floor it.
My understanding is that Beck had to correct her, and she’s confused the Koreas in the past.
It doesn’t help that she chooses venues (like Hannity) where they tee-up the press-whine-of-the-day. At some point, it doesn’t matter if her complaints are justified, what matters is that she won’t stop complaining.
Reagan didn’t moan about the press, and they hated him. Used his liberal kids against him. She’d pop a vein if that happened. Gingrich doesn’t talk much about how the press treated him (Hint: Not well. They used his mom and g@y sister against him.). He has something to say that’s not about himself.
You listen to her long enough, and it’s all the same. All fluff and filler, stock phrases and clauses, and ”That’s a great question, Sean!” You sense that she’s running-out-the-clock, or writing a bunch of BS in hopes that the teacher will mistake it for a coherent answer. That’s fine for a cheerleader in high-school. I’ll just leave that thought where it is.
And all this ‘Presidential’-talk could be a load of crap. She’s way more valuable as a contender than not. She knows where the money is, and that works for her.
During the interview she designated North Korea as the enemy 8 seconds before the gaffe, so I think she knows what she is taking about there.
As far as everything else goes, I am starting to think she is the conservative version of Obama, basically trying to BS her way to the presidency. I really hope I am wrong but for now she isn’t convincing me otherwise.
Also I think the reason the fluff phrases work for now is becuase she is not running for anything. If she were to run and pull the same filler phrases then she would clearly way in over her head. These easy interviews with Hannity et al and she playing the victim with some of the media may irk me for now, but I can see where is trying to come from.
But if she pulls this kind of crap during her campaign, then she does not deserve to be president.
On the other hand, this guy is two weeks late and one important fact short…and I can’t believe nobody here picked this up last night. The token ICN liberal shouldn’t have to do your KO-bashing for you.
The PSA was cheesy, but it was for abstinence and protection, and Bristol points out her situation (sic) as a reason to listen to her. LEAVE BRISTOL ALONE!
^ I guess she won’t be getting that apology I told him she deserves. His Twitter-isms range from “(not really) means it’s a joke” to “she’s a hypocrite for advising abstinence-only” which is not what she’s doing. Idiot.
When Sarah Palin is attached, people rush to defend her. Most of us don’t think she could be President, but we don’t like it when she and her family are unfairly attacked.
During the interview she designated North Korea as the enemy 8 seconds before the gaffe, so I think she knows what she is taking about there.
There’s a difference between ‘knows’ and ‘cares’. Anybody with any sense of history – any passion for it – would never “slip up” like that. Nobody confuses South Vietnam with North Vietnam; nobody confuses Western Europe with Eastern Europe. It’s a lazy and careless “slip” that disrespects the suffering behind those respective ‘curtains’.
This Palin discussion is all over the map. The lady ran for VP and utilized her family to build her popularity. Sarah’s style is more like an attacking bear, not high on reason. That being said, I contend that her family should be left completely out of the conversation. Sarah, by herself, says more than enough to deal with.and her family is going to nothing other than support her, regardless of their own thoughts. They are her family and I would expect no less.
Bristol Palin is a grownup who has put herself on the national stage. I don’t agree that she’s “off limits”; she can handle herself. KO is wrong about her, but he’s not breaking some sacred “leave the family out of it” rule by voicing an opinion about a public statement she made.
joe, Yes, but if the media highlights a person making statements which one would fully expect, the question is why does the media bother to pursue the obvious. The media needs to walk away.
^ I’m not sure what you’re saying. Bristol and “The Situation’s” PSA was all over the news a couple weeks ago. I’m pretty sure that was their intention. “Teenage mom wants to warn against becoming a teenage mom” may be “expected”, but it’s still worthy of attention.
Fortunately, most sane members of the media didn’t wait two weeks to notice it, and didn’t miss the point when they did see it..
This’ll be an interesting case. Young man shouts the crazy; the government gets involved with a way to make his fantasy come true; he takes the bait. Would he have pursued it on his own, or did someone who “believed in his cause” move him from “shouting” to “doing”?
There’s quite a few good people being murdered just the other side of our southern border. It’s a nightmare down there. Ultimately, the blame rests with those on this side of the line who want to be without worries smoking pot.
Either make the cultivation, sale, and possession of marijuana legal in the United States or make the possession of any amount a five year hard-labour penalty. Continuing to dance around the subject.. it’s illegal but not really so bad so we’ll treat it as a civil infraction to keep our prisons less crowded… is causing innocent people to die.
To put it more bluntly, because somebody in Chicago or Dayton wants to light up a joint, a man in Juarez or a young woman in Meoqui gets their brains blown out the side of their head. And the violence is creeping into our country.
Are you watching in HD? Make sure your picture mode is ‘Standard’ instead of ‘Sports’. If the contrast settings on non-HD tellys are… backlit too much then the make-up really stands out.
No HD here, either. I noticed it last week. I remember him having an almost clinical exhaustion problem during the Howard Dean campaign. He doesn’t seem to react well to pushing the limit, and he’s certainly pushing the limit with his weight right now.
I saw him in HD. Flipping back and forth between that and a hockey game. I thought he looked… like what I suspect a really bad mistake of mine would look like. Figured it was my contrast settings.
Ok kids, if we’re going to fret about his health, and crack jokes about it at the same time, well..you’re on your own. I don’t have many standards, and what I have aren’t very high, but there’s a limit..
You can’t discern the health of someone who is wearing make-up and and under the glare of bright lights designed for high0-definition cameras. If you’ve ever been in a play and looked in the mirror while wearing even that make-up, you’ll remember scaring yourself.
Good grief. I wanted to comment on the first topic you all were discussing yesterday on this thread, and could not get into the site. What’s up with the log-in changes?
ANYWAY, about Sarah Palin… I am definitely not a fan, but something I heard recently really helped me understand what I believe to be her tendencies. She likes to focus only on the “big picture” (so to speak) and not be involved – in any way – in the details of anything. That’s why she usually can’t elaborate on points she makes, and must be “coached” (or whatever) in order to have any kind of in-depth discussion. Although I certainly understand a preference for concentrating on the vague, general idea (and leaving the implementation/working out the details to others), it really is not a trait that serves one well in any kind of management position. Even if your staff handles the day-to-day activities, a manager must have an understanding of what is going on, especially if the manager is the “face” of the organization. I would expect no less from someone who has aspirations of being President.
Is that why nobody’s here? When I log in now, it goes to a WordPress page, then I type in this URL again and it takes me in.
Palin’s “big picture” is just another way of saying “lazy”. She’s a spoiled pretty-girl who’s used to getting a pass, and has the thinnest skin I’ve ever seen in politics.
Palin’s article on the Fed’s monetary policy was well into the specifics of a very difficult subject. Tells me that she’s quite capable of getting into the details of serious issues when she wants to… with “wants to” being the operative.
One of the “political advisor” pundits (I don’t think it was Rove) made the point recently that it would be inadvisable, politically, for Governor Palin to dig too much into the details at this stage because she is such a target – of both parties. Another made the point that she is doing exactly the right thing by going after every single slight made against her by anyone of consequence. The “narrative” has been developed that she’s not a serious player, yet other potential candidates who make stunningly stupid remarks are barely noticed.
I still don’t think she has any intention to run. The same guy who said that Palin shouldn’t be too specific at this point also said that she should not be making politically-charged comments at this stage of the game. She does so weekly, seems like.

It wasn’t the actor that wrote it, in case that’s not clear.
