Does anyone else (who reads Mediaite) find it unbelievable that they have yet to mention the GE/NBC/MSNBC/Stimulus Funds story?
The story is significant, but apparently their NBC ties keep them from reporting it. Stories about Sarah Palin and a loon making a Klan-themed-snowman (who cares, the guy’s a jerk looking for attention) are much more important and “relevant.” Ugh.
The MSNBC mornings spent the week being very deliberate, disciplined and on topic. Chris Jansing was conducting well within her comfort zone, Chuck and Savannah coordinated exceptionally well, MJ suceeded in following through with each topic being rather disciplined and Contessa calmly closed out the mornings with deliberate calmness. Junk topics were at a minimum and I believe that the hosts were actually a bit irritated even having to bring them up.
I do believe that the MSNBC mornings are really determined to stay serious, except maybe about Cleveland.
It’s posted any number of places, but Josh has the full-text of Bristol’s response to Keith. What kills me is that there are conservatives three times her age who can’t deal with the tired charge of ‘hypocrisy’. She hits it, and him out of the park.
Helen Thomas is silly. It’s a dangerous silliness but from her, more silly than dangerous.
Who exactly are “the Zionists” that she believes controls America? Is it personified in Charles Krauthammer? Or Barney Frank? Chuck Schumer? Bill Kristol?
More than 70-75% of Americans strongly support the state of Israel and our support for it. Whether she likes it or not – and she obviously doesn’t – those are “the Zionists” that are influencing our policies towards that state.
It’s no cabal, Ms. Thomas. It’s the American people.
Just with that one statement, Bristol impresses me more than her mother has in two years. And more than a lot of well-established conservatives that we can think of.
“Does anyone else (who reads Mediaite) find it unbelievable that they have yet to mention the GE/NBC/MSNBC/Stimulus Funds story?”
^Care to enlighten as to what story your ranting about. I can’t find it anywhere in the media outside of some 10 month old right wing blogs. Not even on FNC as far as I can tell.
Personally, I thought that much of the loans made by the Fed were a mistake, though, corporate America (plus the foreign banks that had lended to the Americans) needed the loans and Wall Street was unable to move fast enough to satisfy the Fed (and the economy). The US will come out OK on all of this and that is the important issue. I would just rather that they concentrated on the, smaller, end users, in business, and left the financial “big wigs” in the lurch.
Harley-Davidson, Verizon, Toyota..a lot of companies got Federal support in 2008. You nutjobs are bonkers to connect it to MSNBC’s politics. But that won’t stop you..

One of the benefits – if we can call them that – of the leaks is how they show that this nonsense about Bush and the neocons being “criminal liars” or the Obama Administration being equally culpable is just that, a bunch of partisan smearing nonsense.
There’re good people in both Administrations. You may disagree with their policies but they’re not evil war criminals as Bush was accused of being. Obama too.
The smearing left and the smearing right should be ashamed.

Many of them feel like they are anonymous so free to spew but that’s an illusion. When someone doesn’t take credit for what they spew out into the internet- it amounts to bird droppings
Nice preemptive strike, a**hole. You’ve got an anti-semitism bug up yer a** that nobody cares about.
Sorry, but you’re simply not going to turn this site into Mediaite or some other sewer on the internet. Although I’m sure you’ll try to do drag everything down with your juvenile language and posts.

Stop dragging the site down, please or go elsewhere.

Boy, you’ve got that right (see above).
Some folks think they can act like tough guys or 12-years olds simply because they’re sitting behind a computer and don’t have any consequences for what they say.
Fortunately, for the most part this site isn’t one of those types. But some folks apparently want to make it so.
Hey Steve – joe doesn’t get into the sewer much unless he gets on a roll about GWB. You’re being a bit unfair.
As for the leaks, there are quite a few positives to come from them. There doesn’t appear to be a whole lot there that we didn’t already strongly suspect. And Assange did bother to redact quite a few names of individuals who’d be in mortal danger.
We’ve got some classy individuals here making responsible posts.
Then we have people that – for no discernible reason – decide to remind us of the obvious: that Helen Thomas is a crazy old lady who has a problem with Jews. I managed to find this speech you’re all worked up about in the Detroit Free Press. What’s the point, other than to stir up a battle about anti-semitism from a story nobody noticed?
So I asked that question, and you decided to predict what I would “pull”. Anybody that tries to preempt debate from me by putting words in my mouth is going to hear about it.
I’m not a big fan of Ed Schultz, but he’s one liberal that’s not afraid of a fight. Tom Tancredo is on right now, and has been on his radio and TV shows many times. I think some conservatives would shy away from that debate..
@Al
I agree regarding Bristol’s response to Olbermann. Not sure why Keith even placed her in WPITW. It was low-hanging fruit and attacking families of politicians (even if they are barely half-governors) is always dicey. He’s getting it pretty bad on Twitter, too.
@Joe
Yeah…Ed seems to like having conservatives on. I don’t. Not that I don’t like hearing both sides of the debate….just that Ed is not much of a debater and always seems to be on the losing end of the battle. I’d rather he just pull an Olbermann and stick with fellow liberals. Although, lately, when he has a Conservative on, he brings on a pretty good Lefty too.
Real, keep your eye on Mediaite. It may show up there. It was hysterical. Ron tried to shut him up, and the guy threw up his hands and said, “Aaaah you’re on all the time” and kept talking. I was on the floor.
Can you get off your high horse please? We’re not talking about News Channels, we’re talking about Cable news channels here. You know, where people like Glenn Beck and Ed Schultz get their platform.

Nonetheless she did a good job sitting in for Andy Levy and stayed true to the flow of the show. Red Eye seems so simple in concept that it’s surprising how ‘off’ it can be without the regulars.
-Thrilled-
CiC is the CiC, whoever he or she may be. When your job brings with it the not-so-unlikely possibility that you will be violently killed doing it, you have to believe in your country and POTUS is the embodiment of that virtue.
There’s nothing wrong with criticising elected office holders, and those serving in the armed forces criticise the president regularly. But when they hear an American citizen calling the president vile names such as “war criminal”, that is an offence taken personally.
Right, it’s better if I lie. I believe he wanted that war before he had a reason for it, then bullsh!tted his way into it without a clue how the place operated. It was a war fantasy in real time, with real lives. Anybody who sees it that way – and there’s a lot of us – are being dishonest if they don’t consider it a crime. He’s a war criminal. That’s what I believe.
Eh, it’s hopeless. They’ll just say I have Bush Derangement Syndrome and hate all Republicans. I almost voted for the guy, and didn’t mind much when he won. I figured, how bad could it be..?
History will tell. The democratisation of Iraq may be the seed that frees the Middle East of its tyrannical regimes and halts a global nuclear war when fossil fuels are no longer needed.
Indeed. I think Reagan was on more solid ground with the Cold War, but I thought he was nuts to push Star Wars and holler at the Soviet Union all the time. Oops. The USSR was obsessed with SDI, and bankrupted themselves into oblivion trying to compete with it, so what do I know?
I’m not sure what the point of this is. He’s a liberal, and no fan of Palin, but somehow ‘elitist’ conservatives are ‘mean’ for criticizing her. I’m pretty sure that if ‘we’ supported her, that would be bad too.
^ Damned if they do, damned if they don’t is the point. In the mind of the far left, Republicans can do no right… and blaming them for everything always and forever… well, that IS the point.
That’s about the dumbest column I’ve ever read. The right thinks she’s not all that bright, and they’re being unfair? Hey libs, if the other side starts agreeing with you, roll with it.
^ You get to say you’re inspired by Ronald Reagan..the man who won a Cold War those of us who grew up during that time thought would last forever. You don’t get to say you’re like him because you’re being filmed clubbing fish.
The man who made LPs about socialized medicine while filming ‘Death Valley Days’ is not to be lightly compared with one who scans a safe place for her Blackberry while climbing rocks. Or being interviewed by one.

Good point, Blue. It’s amazing, isn’t it, how the media can control a story, with what they play over and over again, and what they leave out!

Unfortunately the crowd that gave her a standing ovation didn’t.
No, her views aren’t – here in America circa 2010 – something to be worried too much about. She’s a crank.
But unfortunately (there’s that word again) there are a lot of more powerful and dangerous people in the world that think the way she does.
And some of them would like to do something more about those views than just giving them.

It was a war fantasy in real time, with real lives. Anybody who sees it that way – and there’s a lot of us – are being dishonest if they don’t consider it a crime. He’s a war criminal. That’s what I believe.

Time to microwave some popcorn…

If the ‘wrong’ people think something, it must be wrong. Even..if..it’s right. Right?

^ It’s the problem of “we’re always right, you’re always wrong”. It’s the problem of simplistic, ideological non-thinkers.

Hark! Another ‘elite’ who’s getting a bit tired of the ‘Reagan’ self-comparison.

Ed Rollins is a RINO! The Tea Party response is so predictable.

I don’t think he’s any great ‘conservative’, but he did kinda work with the guy. It’s just ridiculously hubristic for her to make the comparison.
