What’s on your mind?

  1. The head of the FCC, Michael Copps, testified yesterday that because of what he called the decline of “real journalism” that the Commission is justified in intervening in what is broadcast.

Copps said that “What you and I are getting these days is too much opinion based on opinion and too little news based on fact”. And he called for a “Public Value Test” when renewing licenses.

The rest here: FCC and “Real Journalism.

“Real journalism” and “public value test”? I’m sure those will be equally applied and never favor one view over another.

Actually, I’m sure it won’t be applied equally and Mr. Copps needs to find another line of work if he thinks this is his job.

  2. Good. Every pig with poor impulse control who feels the need to share their ‘thoughts’ should end up like this guy. Idiots like this are all the reason necessary to have not put it out there.

  3. I love hearing Republicans snipe at Chris Christie. There’s a definite ‘Meow’-quality to it.

  4. Protests now in Libya and, again in Iran?

Why do I think that six months from now all of the pro-US regimes in the Middle East will have anti-US regimes and all of the anti-US governments will have been replaced by pro-US ones?

We’ll be right back where we are today but standing on our heads.

    Very strange times.

  5. In defense of Copps, here’s his complete testimony: Testimony.

It’ll open as a word document.

    See? Sorta’ kinda’ real journalism.

  6. Noah’s Ark racing even worse now in Daytona. :(

Tony Kornheiser’s black helicopter just crashed in Daytona (he said NASCAR basically let Junyer cheat to win the pole for the big dance)… Junyer in the wall starting in the back of the pack in Sunday’s big dance.

Lara Logan — the whole thing is horrific.

Protests all over the middle east now.

  7. I saw this on O’Reilly last night and got the link from HuffPo. Thought it was funny. Hope the link works:

  8. ^ Maddow used the same bit last night in a segment on how Boehner is doing as speaker. I’ll leave it to you to figure out how she thought he was doing.

The people who probably don’t think it’s all that funny are the Speaker and others in the Republican leadership. It’s never a good thing when your the butt of the joke and when its your team laughing at you and not with you.

  9. Glenn Beck attached a number to the Lara Logan story. He didn’t mention her name, but duh. Three times he’s mentioned it. There are no words.

  10. Shep reported the CBS statement last night, but to my knowledge it hasn’t been mentioned today, at least that I’ve seen.

  11. Well, the RNC will just have to issue a diktat to O’Reilly that he must never show such clips again. If he does, he loses his membership card and golfing privileges.

I think that’s how the GOP/Fox News nexus operates, isn’t it?

  12. “Glenn Beck attached a number to the Lara Logan story”

laura: What does “attached a number” mean?

  13. Number of assailants. I should never have mentioned it. I’m sorry.

  14. Lemme guess: He’s using “the thing that shall not be named” as evidence of the New World Order in Egypt.

  15. Nothing to be sorry over laura. That number has been mentioned in a number of news reports.

  16. So, any links to what Justin Bieber thinks about the Fed, monetary policy and quantitative easing?

  17. ^ ..or the fact that he does a better Obama-impression than Fred Armisen?

  18. savefarris Says:

Oh Chris: taking Republicans to task for “not showing leadership” on the birther issue. Why no words for the only person who actually can kill it in 5 minutes if he so desires: Barack Obama. Where’s his lecture on “not showing leadership”?

  19. ^birther

  20. I think the President has made it abundantly clear that he was born in the USA. I mean, as far as he knows. He’ll take his himself at his word. Idiot.

  21. Sometimes you just can’t make it up (if the link works).

  22. ^ “I robbed that liquor store to prove how inept police response is in this town..”

  23. Well to be fair Joe I didn’t say they wouldn’t condemn him I just asked would they?….and some have and that’s good.

  24. And he did attack one of their own, so there’s that. Not to mention his reference to AC. I can’t believe he actually went on the show. Unbelievable prick.

  25. Well to be fair Joe I didn’t say they wouldn’t condemn him I just asked would they?….and some have and that’s good.

Nice try. It was a shot across the bow like you used to do, and you got busted with it. I’m willing to let bygones be bygones and get along with you, but if you’re gonna go back to that “will libs be complete a$$holes” game, I’ll be here watching. That preemptive shot under such difficult circumstances was uncalled for.
