Glenn Beck to Steal Joel Cheatwood from FNC?

Mediaite’s Colby Hall scoops that Joel Cheatwood may be leaving FNC to go work from Glenn Beck’s production company Mercury Radio Arts…

A source close to the situation tells Mediaite, “There is a strong indication that Glenn Beck has bigger plans for his TV future than anyone thought, as it looks like Joel Cheatwood, SVP of Production/Development at Fox News, will be joining Mercury Radio Arts very soon to work closely with Glenn on his next creative idea.”

While no deal is officially done, indications are that Cheatwood will soon be joining Mercury.

Beck doesn’t make this move if he isn’t seriously considering leaving FNC when his contract is up…

  1. Glenn Beck might be leaving FNC? Ok, bye-bye.

  2. Guess it’ll be interesting to see who FNC puts in the 5pm slot. My money is on Megyn Kelly.

  3. we are approaching election season… Megyn and Bill Hemmer used to host “America’s Election HQ” at 5p right before the 2008 election, FNC could always bring it back.

hey, program news..there’s an idea for a news channel huh

  5. Josh Kalb Says:

Maybe FNC could hire one of those great news anchors that MSNBC has on in the late afternoon.

Oh, wait. They don’t have any of those!

Beck would not be nearly as popular as he is without a presence on FNC. When he was on HLN, no one watched and no one cared what he said. The move to FNC changed that. Not only do wore people atch him on TV, but his radio audience has grown as well. It looks like Beck is just using FNC to grow his bottom line while giving management a headache.

I’d like to see him go up against the world’s largest O’ Ego at 8 PM. Of course I don’t agree with everything he says, especially the doomsday stuff, but he sure makes some good points and can be very funny. Wonder which channel would like to acquire a big winner? Maybe PBS, balance for 30 years of conspiracy theory conservative hating Bill Moyers. I won’t hold my breath!

  7. Josh Kalb – Beck’s HLN offering was nothing compared to what he currently pushes on FNC. Sure, the audience is bigger but ‘this program’ is Beck 2.0.

Btw, Beck would’ve been out the door for his jab at Jews just like Rick Sanchez had he still worked at HLN.

  8. Don’t let the door hit you where George Soros split you.

  9. Josh Kalb Says:

Terance, you are somewhat right about Beck’s FNC show being different from the HLN show. But when Beck first started at FNC the show was almost exactly the same, with only minor changes. For example, the show started off with an O’Reilly “Talking Points Memo”
type segment called “The Real Story” on HLN and “The One Thing” on FNC. Glenn started out having a lot of guests but eventually the show became almost all him.

  10. Josh Kalb Says:

And Beck didn’t cause big controversy until after he was on the air for a while.

FNC management should have forced Beck to keep the show “normal.” Apparently Cheatwood is out the door. Beck will be next.

  11. I think Beck is a smart guy because he has tons of money. But, lots of rich people are f’ing loons!

Really, there is a way to say things and there is the ‘Beck’ way. He just comes across as some sorta extremist.

Maybe we should start calling him a Mormon-extremist. Although I’m unsure if he’s actually a good representative of the Mormon faith… (All I really know about Mormons is they used to like Polygamy… Watching the series finale of HBO’s Big Love right now.)

Finally, I have no problem with Polygamy.. Seeing that there is only one ‘legal’ marriage. And of course I in no way endorse incest or underage brides.

  12. I’d give the show to ‘The Donald’. The ratings would be awesome. 😉

  13. Josh Kalb Says:

Hair and makeup would have a field day with Trump.

  14. — hair and makeup with Trump.–

Where’s that Flowbee when you need it?

  15. missy5537 Says:

fritz, “The Donald” will be busy running for POTUS, and will not have time for a TV show.

Obnoxious as he is, he is the only guy who knows what the hell is going on with the world’s economy, and will look out for our interests throughout the world. And what he doesn’t know he will delegate. I do think he can beat 0.

  16. I’d be willing to give Donald trump a consideration for POTUS… after he’s proven himself as a governor for a few years.

  17. missy5537 Says:

Al, I think the business empires he’s run are at least as complex as most of our states.

  18. Missy, I agree that having executive business experience would be very helpful. Businesses aren’t really democracies, however, and without the experiences of stumbling a few times learning to deal with an equal-powered legislature, or in understanding the constraints upon issuing orders to sometimes tediously defined governmental department requirements, even Donald Trump would be ill-equipped to take on the task of being the American president.

Sort of the same problem we have now, except Trump might have even more difficulty keeping his mouth from getting him into trouble.
