TV by the Numbers has the first official FBN ratings, though these are just total day and primetime and aren’t broken out by hour…

printed them; will study and comment, later; since I don’t get FBN.
March 30, 2011 at 5:59 pm
Predictably embarrassing. CNBC’s ratings look monstrous compared to FBN.
March 30, 2011 at 6:12 pm
my2cents,
Yes, I don’t even get FBN on my cable, and will not change providers to just get FBN..(I can’t stand Cavuto anyway. )
Whose responsibility is the Carry decision, anyway?
If FBN wants “on” a net isn’t it their responsibility?
Sooooo, Cavuto…you get it on my cable net…it’s COX, neal. (sic)
So stop your silly, “if you don’t get it…demand it” routine…you’re the one with the big title: Sr. VP of FBN…and let some of the talent you’ve raided from CNBC on “your World” slot…you slot hog.
Maybe your ratings will reflect it.
March 30, 2011 at 6:33 pm
I don’t think they care about the ratings right now. They are just getting to the point where the market hours programming is getting really good, and they just reshuffled the lineup. From what I hear, they are about to break even, so its all up from here. What they ought to do is run some of FBN’s weekday primetime on FNC on the weekends. Lou Dobbs and Judge Napolitano’s shows especially.
March 30, 2011 at 6:34 pm
But yes, the numbers are terrible.
March 30, 2011 at 6:36 pm
I just looked up a Cox Cable telly line-up at random… Cleveland has FBN on channel 216.
March 30, 2011 at 6:38 pm
What they ought to do is run some of FBN’s weekday primetime …
… on Fox broadcast during summer rerun season.
March 30, 2011 at 6:45 pm
What they ought to do is run some of FBN’s weekday primetime …
Why do people consider the weekend expendable for a news channel? If I’m home and choose a news channel on Sat. or Sun., I want news and commentary, just like the other 5 days of the week when I have the same reasons for tuning in a news channel. I don’t want it ditched for prison docs. I don’t want it ditched to promote a business channel.
March 30, 2011 at 6:49 pm
Joe, Lou Dobbs and Judge Napolitano would appeal to FNC’s audience. It would be better than Huckabee and Judge Jeanine.
March 30, 2011 at 7:00 pm
If Dobbs is only going to talk about business and illegal aliens, screw it, I’ll take Huckabee. I’ll take Jeanine over Napolitano, too. After I got past my annoyance at another TV judge being thrust before me as “important” because everybody calls her “judge”, I discovered Ms. Pirro asks good questions without a hint of bias.
Btw, I watch FNC on the weekend. I’m part of FNC’s audience.
March 30, 2011 at 7:11 pm
I doubt that it’s FNC’s regular audience who they want to attract to FBN. I’d put some samplers on the broadcast net during otherwise low-ratings nights.
March 30, 2011 at 7:18 pm
You’d put FBN broadcasting on in place of Cops, America’s Most Wanted, and The Simpsons? Me thinks you should table that Fox Programming Chief resume..
March 30, 2011 at 7:18 pm
I’m glad Josh has picked up on what I’ve been saying for the longest time… they need to have a “best of” programs from FBN and show them on FNC on the weekend.
Much better to do that instead of reruns of Beck or O Reilly.
Kevin McGee is right….. when they find us…they like what they see. But the problem is….for the majority of the people out there….who aren’t on a digitial tier/or on the wrong tier–they need to see what they are missing.
Same reason I argued back in January that they should use the Super Bowl to promote the heck out of FBN. Do a whole week down there. Give the Obama interview to Cavuto instead of Bill O… and pump the network.
The Bill interview was a bust. His ratings were back down to normal soon after. But, it could have done major things for FBN.
Also, it would help if they actually started pumping money into promoting the network. Which they have never done. Outside of running things on NewsCorp properties they haven’t done squat.
I would have done a cross country tour a long time ago. Hitting the majority cities all across America. Bringing personalities…..broadcasting from there. Educating the public in those cities where you are on the dial.
March 30, 2011 at 7:21 pm
… on Fox broadcast during summer rerun season>>
Fox would do better showing more baseball games etc…
But the one thing they should have done is to tweek RED EYE some and try it out on FX at 11;00 pm or so.
March 30, 2011 at 7:22 pm
Whitney would it matter if you changed providers?
Isn’t your problem–you won’t switch to digital?
Is FBN available on any analog systems?
March 30, 2011 at 7:33 pm
Star, isn’t YOUR problem that you work for FBN, so every comment from you is an infomercial? Every FBN thread devolves into you shilling for them. What is your job there, anyway?
March 30, 2011 at 7:37 pm
^Propagandist!
March 30, 2011 at 7:46 pm
-Cops, America’s Most Wanted, and The Simpsons?-
No, run them on week nights when lame shows are in rerun. Just for a few weeks or every-other week…. teasers like they do with Stossel on FNC now.
March 30, 2011 at 7:52 pm
fbn. what a joke. any how, they will wind up turning fbn into an fnc. it will be the only way to get viewers……
March 30, 2011 at 7:55 pm
It’ll never work, Al. Entertainment viewers get hacked off about a bait & switch like that. Even the hourly primetime “news” shows are tabloid dreck to satisfy them. They want their summer reality shows and crap sitcom reruns.
March 30, 2011 at 8:06 pm
You’re prolly right, Joe. Most people don’t watch the telly the I do… piece-meal & whenever.
March 30, 2011 at 8:11 pm
Most people don’t watch endless hours of news, either. Comfort yourself in knowing the teeming masses are easily amused simpletons, and we…we, are the elite..
March 30, 2011 at 8:18 pm
Reminds me… and since Trump is known for “business”… was he worth watching on O’Reilly tonight? I turned the sound off and finished homework.
March 30, 2011 at 8:19 pm
I hope y’all are enjoying that NBC star hijacking your network. You were better off with Palin..
March 30, 2011 at 11:31 pm
starbroker,
Believe you may be correct if I switched from the analog to digital; cable bill for COX just became ~$60/month, that’s just for analog too; I’m just not enthusiastic about changing my setup now with the COX, techs who are so lame; they disconnected my phone line the last time they were here; tempted to go with cable phone and cable internet, but at least my DSL gets a solid baud that I can count upon with no neighbor insertion loss.
One channel broadcasts 24/7 in digital and I think you’re right about the superiority….all my TVs are 1080p, too, so I’m no knowing why I’m so reluctant…it’s I don’t want to be tied to a set top box.
And yet, I have these Motorola Drop Amps “signal Booster” powered amps in line to increase the signals.
I’ll have to do some research; that said, actually like CNBC much more than Varney or certainly Cavuto; found that Napolitano drove me to switch channels, and Beck and Geraldo are on my “no watch” list, too.
I actually enjoy, Maddo (sic) and the CNN guy with the white hair for a change.
As a conservative, I find it’s enlightening, although tiresome to listen to the liberal take on issues.
March 31, 2011 at 6:39 am
A FBN employee…oops…I mean starbroker, says: “I would have done a cross country tour a long time ago”
Good grief! Is FBN is a BUSINESS NETWORK, or a circus show? Honestly.
March 31, 2011 at 6:55 am
I think StarFBNer is a janitor and aspiring PR hack. He/She is currently honing their skills on ICN. Sadly, I don’t see ‘em getting a promotion anytime soon.
On a related note: StarFBNer needs to get better familiar with the product! A while back I saw FBN updates on SNY & Tennis Channel. So its not like they’ve never tried to pimp the network besides News Corp owned properties.
March 31, 2011 at 7:06 am
The Tennis Channel? Well….that. changes. EVERYTHING!!!
March 31, 2011 at 12:17 pm
WheresTheBeef finally crawled out of his kitchen from flipping burgers at his job… and had to mouth off..
Funny, he didn’t have much to say about FBN having over $100M in revenue.
Didn’t have much to say about them being right on track to be in the black in 2012.
No, he just mouths off about stuff that’s obviously way over his little brain. But what should anyone expect from an extreme left winger. Just a left wing troll who hates FNC/NewsCorp/ FBN.
And now Terance whines about the Tennis Channel?! Gee, I guess Terance forgets about the relationship the TC and FBN has. Ooops! LOL
Too bad both of you will be stuck manning the counters at your burgers joints next week….while the big boys play in Vegas.
March 31, 2011 at 12:25 pm
If Starbroker is as you say; tell that Managing editor and Sr. VP of FBN to shape up and get some of that raided talent from CNBC on the camera; he’s failed to create any “must have” carried enthusiasm on his show.
March 31, 2011 at 12:56 pm
StarFBNer, you might wanna start paying attention a little better so embarassing exchanges like this don’t get recapped.
StarFBNer – Also, it would help if they actually started pumping money into promoting the network. Which they have never done. Outside of running things on NewsCorp properties they haven’t done squat.
Terance – StarFBNer needs to get better familiar with the product! A while back I saw FBN updates on SNY & Tennis Channel. So its not like they’ve never tried to pimp the network besides News Corp owned properties.
StarFBNer – And now Terance whines about the Tennis Channel?! Gee, I guess Terance forgets about the relationship the TC and FBN has. Ooops! LOL
I’m the one that brought up TC/SNY as examples because you said they haven’t done squat outside of News Corp properties, donkey.
March 31, 2011 at 12:59 pm
And Terance they haven’t done squat outside of their NewsCorp properties.
Little local cable buys etc…isn’t squat. Sorry that goes over your head.
And do you need to google the relationship FBN and the Tennis Channel has?
Now go back to your fries before they burn and you embarrass yourself any further
March 31, 2011 at 1:10 pm
Ah, very typical. StarFBNer fails to acknowledge his error!
FYI, Tennis Channel isn’t a local cable buy. It was nationwide.. I might also add, quite a few cable systems have Tennis Channel & FBN in the SAME package. Therefore its sorta like preaching to the choir.
Also, the ‘hit’ I saw on SNY was during a Yankees game. Certainly you’re aware of the ratings they amass in the #1 market, no?
March 31, 2011 at 1:13 pm
Star also fails to reveal his relationship to FBN. His presence on this bolg as a commentor is bogus. He works for FBN, and should be paying Spud for advertising.
March 31, 2011 at 1:15 pm
Terance of course fails to acknowledge the relationship between FBN and the Tennis Channel.
http://www.multichannel.com/article/445349-Tennis_Channel_Fox_Business_Play_Doubles_With_Updates.php
Geez, now get back to flipping burgers. You aren’t in the business…you will never be there….so stop making a fool of yourself.
March 31, 2011 at 1:16 pm
Joe you can stop the lying again. I don’t work for FBN. They couldn’t afford me.
March 31, 2011 at 1:25 pm
LOL I love how starcrapper gets SOOOOOO defensive over a news channel which has less viewers than Joy Behar’s 3am re-run. Hilarious.
March 31, 2011 at 1:28 pm
StarFBNer – How is it possible to not acknowledge something I BROUGHT UP IN THE FIRST PLACE? Btw, I already knew everything in that link.
Piss off.. Tab closed.
March 31, 2011 at 1:30 pm
Joe you can stop the lying again.
Please accept my apologies. Liar.
March 31, 2011 at 4:11 pm
Starbroker needs to come up with better comebacks. Talking about flipping burgers is already getting old. And I’m pretty sure they could afford him/her to clean up the floors in the hallway over there. It’s not exactly a challenge.
March 31, 2011 at 4:18 pm
- flipping burgers -
Star has disdain for the common working man. Anyone who’s ever flipped burgers can tell you it’s hard work. Everybody likes burgers, and hard-working Americans make them. Even in Vegas for a bunch of douchebags.
March 31, 2011 at 4:40 pm
^ A surprising number of the most successful and wealthy Americans started out working below minimum wage at McDonald’s. It’s a good job that teaches far more than just flippin’ burgers.
March 31, 2011 at 5:42 pm
– fast food -
Yes, it teaches you the overwhelming thrill of working for a teenage martinet, and how to clean a fryer after the hot water runs out.
March 31, 2011 at 6:27 pm
It develops teamwork skills, multi-tasking, dealing with customers/public, statistical process control, meeting deadlines,
March 31, 2011 at 6:36 pm
Aggravation of the moment; Yahoo! no longer provides TV listings on their website; jump through hoops time just to get the TV schedule.
What is with this portal?
Bring back Jerry Yang.
March 31, 2011 at 7:09 pm
I don’t think McDonald’s pays below minimum wage. That would kinda detract from the minimum wage law..
March 31, 2011 at 7:14 pm
They used to pay below minimum… still do in some places I think. Well, it’s a different minimum for teenagers, etc. The most recent federal law may have changed that.
