whats not hot…fbn ratings. what a disaster! the only way they will move up in the numbers is to clone the programming of fnc. and just as ailes as done at fnc…fbn will do anything for ratings!

  2. Grandpa Dave Says:

HOT: FBN ratings appear. (Although the numbers are NOT)
HOT: Media Matters vs Bill Sammon.
HOT: The Five Stupidest Gimmicks in Cable News…

NOT: Royal Wedding Coverage. More coverage than Japan or Libya.
    NOT: Q1/March numbers spin. Yawn.

  3. NOT: Fox News Watch attacking NBC for not covering the GE tax story. Does anybody at that show watch MSNBC during the week?

  4. Major Garrett, appearing on NPR’s Diane Rehm Show Thursday, made the point that NBC notably ignored that story but also pointed out that MSNBC & CNBC did cover it.

  5. fredorth Says:

HOT: Programing on Libya, freed journalists, developing a national energy plan (VERY big), efforts for recovery in Japan, state conflicts over worker rights.

NOT: Coverage of conflict in Ivory Coast, Yemen, Syria.
Maybe it is just me, but it does seem that a lot of anchors are experiencing some exhaustion from too much news to work with combined with a solid case of spring fever. I recognize that these people and their staffs work at a much higher gear than the norm, but, humans all have blockage in energy at some point.

  6. Did ABC and CBS notably cover it? It doesn’t strike me as a story worthy of a 22-minute newscast involved with three wars and a nuclear disaster following a giant tsunami. Coverage of the ridiculous tax code GE is very good at exploiting belongs on cable news, where it was roundly criticized by liberal commentors including Rachel Maddow LAST NIGHT.

  7. Don’t know if ABC or CBS covered it, and I agree with you. Makes more sense that cable news nets would cover it for no other reason than to fill time. GE didn’t break any laws so what’s the biggie?

  8. The big story is that GE’s CEO is a “friend” of Obama. That’s why Jake Tapper, for instance, covered it for ABC’s World News.

  9. And when did MSNBC first report the story? I’m not trying to make any point, just wondering when. I know Maddow did Friday.

  10. joeremi Says:

I believe I saw it on LOD’s show Tues. I heard about it on Ratigan sometime during the week, too. MSNBC has not been shy about talking about it, and for just the reason Al stated: The biggest sin to be leveled against GE is that they’re especially good at exploiting the tax code legally. Being that every taxpayer attempts the same thing, it’s not much of an indictment against companies. You either agree with the tax law or you don’t, but the story has little to do with GE specifically.

  11. starbroker Says:

No Clueless Joe, the biggest sin by GE/NBC is that MSNBC/GE shill for things that benefit GE.

They hype global warming scams so GE can benefit financially.

They hype the need for bailouts so GE can benefit financially

They hype ObamaCare so GE can benefit financially. Thats why they would keep hyping the need to go electronic records.

And now its revealed GE got all that money from ObamaCare for early retirees as well.

When NBC does “Green Week” they are doing it to put Green in GE’s pockets

  12. joeremi Says:

Those are swell talking points, Star, but anybody who knows me more than a little bit knows I talk about one topic at a time. An entire indictment of NBC’s relationship to GE isn’t even close to the topic at hand.

  13. missy5537 Says:

HOT: The wall-to-wall media coverage of the 26 year old teacher who was finally arrested this week for making death threats to GOP officials in Wisconsin!!!

NOT: Sorry, my bad! They didn’t even MENTION this, did they? When the left does something bad, it’s ignored. But the right gets attacked whether a story is true or not! The way the Tea Party and others on the right have been maligned is unbelievable.

  14. starbroker Says:

Don’t worry Clueless Joe there’s plenty of links showing how the liberal outlets attacked NBC for not covering the story. They will show up eventually.

But it certainly shoots down your little whining about Fox News Watch.

  15. joeremi Says:

Wait..Clueless Joe. Oh I get it!

    You’re late to the party.

  17. joeremi Says:

    There’s a party? Excellent.

  18. missy5537 Says:

    NOT: FNC’s weekend programming!!!!!

It is one of the mysteries of the world as to what FNC will decide to put on at 9 p.m., 11 p.m. and midnights on Saturday. Huckabee? WSJ Program/Fox News Watch? A special? Red Eye? A special they played to death the weekend prior?

Does anyone have a clue? Is it just a total crapshoot and subject to the feelings of one person who decides what he feels like showing?

Does anyone know whether the WSJ and FNW programs were even aired this weekend?

My theory is that the idiot who decides, at the last minute, what he’ll put on each weekend is the same guy who throws all that %^&*(O on the screen, including the “lower thirds”, that I’m always whining that covers these horrific weather events and other stories where the visual aspect is critical.

  19. laura l Says:

I have noticed of late that they sometimes show WSJ/Fox News Watch at 3/330am, under the name of Red Eye or something. You might want to set the DVR for 0300.

  20. The weekend deal screws up the DirecTV guide. For months it has shown the noontime “America’s News HQ” as being one two hour show (Uma Pemmaraju from DC first hour, Jamie Colby and Kelly Wright from NY the second). This week, Uma’s show was separated from the Colby/Wright show. Now it shows the 1 eastern show as being two hours but the first hour is Colby/Wright and the second hour is the Journal Editorial Report/Fox News Watch hour.

  21. savefarris Says:

Not: Ed Schultz equates patriotism with supporting Obama in Libya. Exactly what he and the MSNBC folks said was beyond the pale during the last administration

  22. missy5537 Says:

As much as I am a fan of most of Fox programming, they can drop dead on weekends at this point. This is not rocket science, and if FNC cannot figure out how to keep its programming somewhat consistent from week to week, I will watch a competitor.

I can see if breaking news occurred, but that is certainly not true in most cases.

Maybe I’ll write to Paul Gigot and ask why they’re jacking his program around. But it’s just idiotic at this point.

  23. Interesting watching on J$’s site the Fox News Watch taping of the segment about NBC’s coverage of GE’s not paying any tax on its profits and having to make a “do-over” because of a factual error. Seems Jim Pinkerton was the only one on the panel who had actually watched NBC news the night before.

  24. – News Watch –

Aside from Colmes being his usual useless self, that was pretty cool. I have to wonder if Jon Scott is a commenter around here, since he seems to know as much about MSNBC as some of our brethren. Except that none of us hosts a show that ostensibly critiques the media for ‘bias’.

  25. News Watch was better with Ellis Henican. Alan is good at doing his thing, but his thing is not media commentary.

  26. laura l Says:

Colmes is good at making other liberals palatable. No small task.

  27. joeremi Says:

Colmes is good at making CONSERVATIVES palatable.

  28. ^ Making Hannity palatable was his job for many years.
