That was really nice, but it might be nicer if he could manage to find one liberal to give as an example. Oh, say, Michael Moore or Paul Krugman, to name two. I’m pretty damn certain that Moore made a few buck on a damn movie “exploiting the tragedy of 9/11″.
^ I suppose, but I also suppose I didn’t take it that seriously. The “Twin Tower coins” and “9/11 Memorial wine” were morbidly funny, and the only part I remember well. I watched the show last night..didn’t play the video again today.
DId you guys see the heroic rescue of the motorcyclist? A car pulled out ahead of him and slammed into him, and the car caught fire, with him underneath. Then a bunch of citizens got together, lifted him from under the car, pulled him to safety, and….
LEFT HIM THERE!!!!!
This is the strangest thing I’ve ever seen. They pull him to safety and leave him lying on the ground. Not ONE person goes to him to see whether he’s breathing, to check on his vitals, so speak to him, reassure him, whatever! Minutes seem to go by until the rescue crew approaches him.
Oh, they were good ones, don’t get me wrong. I’d forgotten about Coulter, and Pat Robertson was a personal favorite. He beat everyone to that particular pile of shame.
I agree the follow-up to getting the rider out is a little odd, but I’ll give the rescuers the benefit of the doubt. They had just lifted a car, then pulled a guy out who was clearly severely injured..possibly dead. Between recovering from the physical exertion, and knowing they didn’t have a clue what to do for the rider, I think “waiting for EMS” was probably the only choice that made any sense to them.
Speaking of, if you’re at an emergency scene and know you aren’t trained for it, standing by is the wisest choice. Even pulling him out from under the car could have worsened his injuries, but the fire made it the only option.
Wait..she repeated it this morning? The entirety of her medical evidence is that a mom came up to her after the debate; what I call “the some dude defense”, i.e. “some dude told me..”. There’s Michele Bachmann’s reality, then there’s reality..
I hate it when these campaigns come down to “just makin’ stuff up”. Bachmann doesn’t like government mandating vaccines – especially if it is to prevent STDs amongst teenagers, because, ya know, it encourages promiscuity – so she dreams up a side effect to seal the deal. Perry doesn’t like the idea of government creating jobs, who decides the stimulus created exactly ZERO jobs.
That simple. Just say it. Big applause! Idiots cheering idiots. What a country.
“The state o’ Texas, the party o’ life, gettin’ Amuricuns workin’ again”. Seriously, do people in Texas really talk like this? Rick Perry’s John Wayne impersonation is driving me NUTS.
I know I saw him on Morning Joe a year-or-so ago, and I don’t remember it that way. I’m sure he had a “Texas drawl”, but this crap he’s doing on the stump seems forced and cartoonish. Obama does it, too, sometimes. He drops his g’s when he wants to sound “working class”. Sorruh, workin’ class. Come on, people, speak like grownups.
Speaking of the crash video – I know, we weren’t – how did they get that car in the air? A few of them were tugging at the bottom, then suddenly the whole group starts pushing near the top and – poof – it’s off the ground. And that ain’t no Corolla: I’ve never read a road test of a BMW 5 Series that didn’t mention “this is a heavy car”.
^ It’s catchy and convenient, but it isn’t true. He did some serious BSing to get the American public to support his invasion of Iraq – WMD wasn’t the only, or even the main goal for getting in there – but he didn’t lie about it.
In my opinion, his most egregious deception wasn’t a literal lie, either: The purposely vague connections he repeatedly made to 9/11 and the War On Terror. As far as I can tell, he never specifically said Saddam was responsible for the attacks, but he did a pretty nifty job of weaving the event into discussions of Iraq many times.
The more accurate statement would be, “Bush used-car-salesman-ed his way into war.”
Ah, this explains much. AC360 showed the car/motorcycle video, with an interview with a cop on the scene. He was one of the people lifting the car, and he was the one who dispersed everyone as soon as the rider was dragged out. It was to get them away from the fire, and not move the rider anymore. How did I miss the cop the first 5 times I saw this?
I get really tired of the shorthand that both sides use, because heaven forbid they should try and express a moderately complex thought. It leaves everyone open to accusations of ‘lying’, then I have to defend my guy while you defend your guy. I’m too old for this sh|t.

^ Texas is a big state and is the home of several dialects. I, of course, try to refrain from criticising accents.

He’s probably used to campaigning in Texas where the subtleties of the speaking style is more appreciated. His campaign should hire a speaking coach.

Oh sure, the ONE TIME they turn off the ticker, it’s on the night where Republicans take NY-9. All the Cable nets (even FOX) is oblivious in re-runs.
September 13, 2011 at 9:12 pm
You’re right, Farris. The election was on Twitter, while cable was in “let’s talk about Perry and Bachmann” world. Weird.
