“NOW WITH ALEX WAGNER” DEBUTS MONDAY, NOV. 14 ON MSNBC
“NOW with Alex Wagner” Debuts Nov. 14 at 12 p.m. ET on MSNBC
NEW YORK – Nov. 11, 2011 – MSNBC’s newest daytime show, “NOW with Alex Wagner,” will debut on Monday, November 14 at noon ET. The show is hosted by Alex Wagner and will feature regular contributors and panelists to provide insight and perspective, giving viewers a broad understanding of what’s shaping the political and cultural landscape. “NOW with Alex Wagner” will go beyond the headlines to examine the forces driving the day’s stories in politics, news and culture.
Guests and panelists for Monday, Nov. 14 include Dan Rather of HDNet’s “Dan Rather Reports,” Maggie Haberman of Politico, John Heilemann of New York Magazine, and MSNBC’s Rev. Al Sharpton.
Most recently, Wagner was an MSNBC analyst and has been a frequent network guest since 2010. Wagner was a reporter with Huffington Post, where she covered innovation in the American economy, investigating the intersection of business, politics and new technology. Prior to this, she served as the White House correspondent for Politics Daily, where she chronicled a number of international and domestic affairs ranging from the BP oil spill to the Egyptian revolution.Dana Haller is executive producer of “NOW with Alex Wagner.”

This looks like the same format as every other MSNBC opinion show. The only difference is the personality of the host.
Some work for me: Todd, O’Donnell, Maddow and Hayes come to mind and some don’t Sharpton, Schultz, Ratigan and Bashir for example. The difference as I see it is that the ones that don’t work are angrier and humorless. The ones that work are intelligent, a focus on the guest or panelists and have a self-effacing humor.
Based on her guest appearances on other MSNBC shows I expect Alex Wagner to be in the group that works for me.
I do worry that there is a big difference in being a guest or panelist on a show and being a shows host and she has never done the latter. I expect it will take a few weeks for her to gel as an anchor.
As to the shows name ‘NOW’ it is much like the Hayes show moniker and seems to be the new style of show title at MSNBC.

Now what?

Has she guest hosted anything for MSNBC? I feel like they are throwing her out there without a lot of experience.
And when will Thomas Roberts get a unique name for his show? He’s got the only “MSNBC Live” branded show left.

“Has she guest hosted anything for MSNBC?”
Not that I can recall. This is one of the stranger launches in MSNBC history. Wagner has not even been a major guest; let alone a sub host; on the network. There must be an interesting back-story to her hiring that has yet to emerge.
I’m not convinced Roberts will hold the slot he has now. He’s a pretty good newsreader, and I think he has aspirations to do opinion on the network, but I think the slot will go to a more promising candidate like Melissa Harris-Perry. i have no inside info; It’s just a feeling.

“Uhh..what network are you watching? She practically moved in.”
She’s a regular pundit but there are lots with just as many or more appearances.

She’s purty… and smart.
I am also wondering, like others here, how she is being thrust into the role of host when she’s never even guest hosted (to my knowledge).
She must have some great knack for being a host that we don’t know about… something in her past, possibly. Otherwise, they wouldn’t gamble with it like that.
