What’s Hot/What’s Not: Submissions…

Post your nominations for this week’s What’s Hot/What’s Not. I’ll post the finalists for the last two weeks (last week’s didn’t go up on account of a DSL issue) on Sunday night.

  1. Hot: Scandals — Penn State — Herman Cain — John Corzine

Not: Occupy Anywhere — point made — go home

  2. starbroker Says:

CBS’ “Blue Bloods” goes after Al Sharpton and MSNBC with the episode BLACK AND BLUE

    http://www.tv.com/shows/blue-bloods/watch/blue-bloods-black-and-blue-10564427/ (watch here)

A great episode about a race baiting ‘preacher’ who falsifies incidents to create racial tension to gain power within the black community. It was a great take on the horrible Al Sharpton and his disgusting ways.

Best line delivered by Tom Selleck:

    about the Rev. Potter

“At the end of the day his view of the promised land is his own show on MSNBC.”

  3. I’ll have to watch that episode online. Thanks star!

    NOT: Layoffs at CNN

HOT: Another debate, another Perry gaffe to dominate the news cycle.

  4. Hot: Perry did a great job laughing off his gaffe in tonight’s debate. (Yes, there was another one).

  5. The CBS debate on foreign affairs went pretty much as expected.

Romney won again although his performance was uneven and he made a few statements that will appear in ads next year.

The winner as expected was Huntsman but Santorum gave some rational answers and appeared to know what he was talking about. I’d say it was a tie between those two as to who performed best.

Ron Paul was Ron Paul and Michelle Bachmann was on another planet as usual.

Newt was again professorial and irritable. He kinda proves the point that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Cain and Perry did badly as expected. Both relied on a few memorized facts that they put out even if they had nothing to do with the question. Perry’s idea of starting each years budget at ’0′ was particularly stupid and I was surprised to see Romney agree with it as he knows better. Can you say pandering.

The questions and moderating were mostly well done although the constant interruptions about time were irritating.

Josh: What was Perry’s gaffe? I didn’t hear him say anything outrageous it was just rehersed sound bites from his stump speech.

  6. It’s the anxiously-awaited Mark Sanford debut. Maybe he’s their on-the-spot for South Carolina debates. Maybe not.

  7. Not: The national EAS alert thing Wednesday that didn’t work. How difficult can this be? All of the radio and television broadcast networks as well as the cable and satellite carriers long ago worked out precise methods for timing advertisement breaks, network “breaking news” alerts, etc. I suppose that’s expected when there’s a commission in charge of federal communications.

  8. Hot: cable modems

    Not: DSL

  9. HOT: Penn State scandal.
    HOT: Herman Cain scandal.
    HOT: Perry gaffe
NOT HOT: Erin Burnett’s ratings. How much longer will CNN try the failed Erin Burnett experiment?
NOT HOT: Anderson Cooper’s ratings inconsistency. One night, he’ll be Ed and Lawrence and the next, not so well.
HOT: Now with Alex Wagner set to debut.
NOT HOT: Time for MSNBC to end the “Andrea Mitchell Reports” and Martin Bashir misery.

  10. NOT HOT: Spud’s DSL modem.

  11. Hot: Ellen — still fresh

Not: Oprah — sick of her

  12. Fritz, I was referring to the gaffe from earlier in the week.

  13. FNC and CNN covered Obama’s presser, MSNBC stayed in tape. So Chuck Todd got a question his own network didn’t air. Brilliant.

  14. Definitely no surprise for sure, but it sure is funny when it happens.

  15. I fail to understand why it’s a “bad thing” for MSNBC to skip the presser. Had they gone to the expense of doing so it would have been the exact same pool feed that CNN & FNC were running and, for those of their regular audience who wanted to watch it live, both of those channels were available. They’ll see Todd’s question along with the usual opinion discussions on that channel tomorrow.

I was going to say that the presser is available on their website but just looked and, if it is, it’s well hidden.

  16. One live-feed would be more than sufficient for that particular meal. When there’s useful breaking news and all three are in tape, that’s a tad irritating. They should draw straws for nights, holidays and weekends and be done with it.

  17. I’d be more surprised if either CNN or FNC hadn’t covered it. It’s not that either one always covers every worthwhile event, but the president doesn’t do many Q&As with the press corps so this was kind of a big deal for them.

  18. In the big picture Al it’s not a bad thing nor does it look badly on MSNBC. I personally just find it funny that the the channel Chuck works for wont have his question on the air live. Nothing to criticize MSNBC over it just gives me a brief chuckle.
