Off the Rails…

Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher rightfully smacks FNC for putting a so called psychic on the air to talk about a missing child case…

The whole thing would be kinda comical if not for the fact that a real missing child, and real grieving family, are involved. It’s bad enough that police departments sometimes humor these cranks, news organizations should not, especially when all they have to do is check the alleged psychic’s blog first. I’m a big Megyn Kelly fan, but she got snookered by her booker on this one.

The booker should immediately be ordered to take “Remedial Booking” classes. Or be fired…

  1. Yesterday Megyn Kelly reported that a physic was giving info, either to police or other groups. Is it the same person being interviewed? If so, I can understand the booking. I might not agree with the decision but at least there was some news value behind it.

  2. As long as it wasn’t someone from Latoya Jackson’s Physic Network Hotline.

  3. ^ ^ Yes, the woman she interviewed is that so-called psychic who gave the Kansas City police locations that they confirmed would be followed-up on.

  4. Totally disagree, Spud.

Apparently the police are taking this goofy woman seriously, therefor it IS newsworthy! I agree it’s silly to take her seriously, but by letting her appear on television and explain herself, Kelly left that for the audience to figure out.

Had this just been some random “psychic,” with no connection to the case, TC’s argument would be valid. However, it wasn’t Kelly who found or listened to this woman, it was those at the heart of the case. Kelly only let that that part of the story be heard.

The police are not taking this “psychic” seriously. What happened was volunteers read her blog and stumbled onto a well which they thought was the well that the psychic had “visions” about. The volunteers then notified the police that the baby could be down in the well and the police would have been excoriated if they didn’t follow up on it.
That whole interview was a joke. She has her kids help with her visions – seriously? Didn’t Fox do a pre-show interview with this fraud?

  6. Sounds like the nut job was part of the story and the interview was not inappropriate. Tommy C. should get off his high horse after getting snookered at the start of Weinergate by a couple frauds.

It’s newsworthy but only from the point of view that the police are taking it seriously. Megyn should have interviewed the Police about why they were doing that, not this so called “psychic”…

  8. Unless a psychic can demonstrate a pattern of correct information well beyond random chance I find such stories and interviews to be boring and irritating.
