Newt meets with The Donald, announces some weirdness about an “Apprentice for kids”. I’ve been following campaigns a long time, but I’ve never seen a circus like this.
The loss of the stealth drone to Iran “makes the loss of the helicopter rotor to Pakistan look like a pittance”, according to a high-level DOD source. Something smells with this story… prolly shouldn’t put to writing what I think.
So Michelle Malkin goes on Fox and excoriates Newt. Over the weekend he gets criticized again on Fox & Friends. Chris Wallace (whom Newt went after for asking him ‘gotcha questions’) goes out of his way to elicit anti-Newt sentiments from Tom Coburn. Then Karl Rove rips Newt. Tonight Brit Hume piles on with a laundry list of Newt negatives.
Boy, that ‘brilliant’ Rachel Maddow analysis that Fox is trying to orchestrate a Newt victory…well, it gets brillianter and brillianter by the day, doesn’t it?
“I think it’s ASTONISHING that the GOP is kissing a birther’s a$$.”
I don’t think most peoople think about “birtherism” when they think about Trump. It’s a tiny part of the Trump brand. At least, that’s about the last thing I think about when I think of Trump.
Who’s sucking up to Trump? Most people I’ve seen, are attacking him for wanted to moderate a debate.
As for Newt, his idea was more or less to start a foundation that helped disadvantaged kids make some money and earn experience via Trump’s business empire. Is that a bad thing?
I heard Donna Brazile, today, accusing Republicans of encouraging the birther issue. My reaction was less-than-positive, since it’s total BS. Except for this minor detail about how they seem to be sucking-up to Donald Trump who is still persisting with his “doubts”, and who is otherwise a nasty ass, self-promoting SOB whose face could turn into the butt-end of a tangerine at any moment.
Guys, the reason I supported Trump was that he was the first one who came out and blatantly attacked 0bama. His favorite word to describe the regime is “disaster”, and he points out that the “brainiac in chief” is not that at all.
The birther issue, to me at least, was an unnecessary sideshow, IMO.
Actually, “brainiac in chief” is my term and not Trump’s. After what happened with F. Chuck today, I don’t want to attribute something to Trump that he did not say.
Dollar is never going to give up on this Maddow thing regarding Fox and Gingrich, is he?
Using that logic, Dollar should have been asking the same thing of Glenn Beck when that nut was spending almost his entire tenure at Fox asking “why hasn’t President Obama proven he’s not a socialist, Marxist, communist, fascist?” (I’m paraphrasing, of course).
Stop the selective fake outrage, Dollar, and deal with cable news commentators doing what they do best… attacking their competition. It’s a part of the business.
You just take yourself too seriously as the devout fox-defender to try and shield everything that is said about them.
It’s nice to know ProgLib is ready to reflexively leap to Maddow’s defense if anyone dares to criticize his precious. Only it’s an odd sort of defense–entirely devoid of any logical argument, just tu quoque fallacies and insults. That tells me I’ve hit the target, and exposed another Maddow anti-Fox rant as the fallacious ravings of an ignorant hater.
The irony of PL sneering that I’m a ‘fox defender’ while he’s up at the crack of dawn to ride to Maddow’s defense–even though he has not one substantive argument to counter the facts I’ve posted–is just icing on the cake.
Golly, Super Smart People, maybe Newt’s status at FNC changed over the weekend as his critics on the right piled on. Campaigns aren’t static. Neither is the coverage.
Excellent! It all changed on a dime because…well because that’s the only explanation when your first principle is that there’s no way Rachel could possibly be wrong.
See, Joe will find a way to make Maddow’s ignorance correct even when she’s obviously, spectacularly wrong.
Um, where did I defend Maddow? I’m simply expecting, at least, SOME transparency on your attacks against her compared to other examples where you remain silent.
You’ll jump all over a liberal theorizing about Fox’s prospects in wanting a certain candidate (which was based on facts and video evidence), but when a commentator on Fox uses conspiracy theories, devoid of any facts, to paint our President as a socialist/communist/Marxist/fascist, you have nothing to say. It has never been proven, but apparently because Beck is an opinion maker (not a news person), it’s allowed. Last time I checked, so is Maddow.
Plus, as Joe said, she said all of these things before Malkin, F&F, Wallace, Rove, etc. went after him. So, you’re (literally) playing as a blind Monday morning quarterback to nitpick at her.

Adios, m*****f*****. (Search Kurt Busch Jerry Punch for that reference).

@JoeRemi: Maybe Kurt should co-host a show with Jimmy Spencer on SPEED.
December 5, 2011 at 2:55 pm
That would be “F. Chuck Todd” to us dittoheads.

I could forgive Newt a lot of things, maybe, but kissing-up to Trump is pushing it. Hard.

J$, Rachel’s a real brainiac, isn’t she?
December 5, 2011 at 6:39 pm
Like every body else who doesn’t watch FNC, Rachel has no idea what she’s talking about. She’s Olby with a nicer tone.

Whee!! Hannity has Trump and Dick Morris. It’s a doubleheader of nauseousness, like being pregnant and hungover.
December 5, 2011 at 7:18 pm
It’s actually a tripleheader, ’cause, ya know…Hannity.
December 5, 2011 at 7:29 pm
I think it’s ASTONISHING that the GOP is kissing a birther’s a$$. He’s still spewing that crap today. Disgusting.

Being that Trump was frontrunner for weeks based on the birther nonsense, and now has seen a succession of candidates kiss his ring, well..
December 5, 2011 at 8:51 pm
Not a huge deal but I’d prefer that the GOP candidates tell Trump’s hair to go flap in the wind.
December 5, 2011 at 8:53 pm
I think begging for Trump’s approval while he’s STILL pushing the birther stuff is a BIG deal. It’s shameful.
December 5, 2011 at 8:55 pm
Who is begging for his approval?! What are you talking about?
December 5, 2011 at 8:58 pm
It’s nice that liberals hold something scared. The “birther issue” seems to be their Holy Of Holies.
December 5, 2011 at 8:59 pm
^ sacred, not scared

Andy, I’m sensing you may be a tad upset with the Jaguars? But I could be wrong.

Pathetic.

Forget it, Prog. Agenda Boy doesn’t understand concepts like ‘news cycle’. His gig is FNC good, MSNBC bad. Boring.
December 6, 2011 at 2:28 pm
But Maddow’s gig is MSNBC good, FNC bad. And that’s not boring, is it Joe? It may be (and often is) lying. But boring it ain’t, at least not to Joe.
Enjoy your double standards.
