Margaret Brennan Out at Bloomberg…

TVNewser’s Chris Ariens scoops that Margaret Brennan is departing Bloomberg TV. In addition Ariens reports on other changes happening to the business channel…

Margaret Brennan, who has been with Bloomberg TV for nearly three years, is leaving the network, TVNewser has learned. Brennan joined Bloomberg from CNBC in 2009. Brennan’s departure, described as mutual, comes as the network plans changes to its morning lineup later this Spring.

Andrew Morse, head of U.S. TV for Bloomberg, says the changes are a continuation of Bloomberg’s “evolution into a digital, multi-platform news organization.” The changes have included a round of staff cuts as well as the posting of new positions, last month.

  1. Margaret was clearly a hard worker. Maybe the hard work showed a little too much and Margaret showed a little too little. She seemed to be better on a spot basis during her times at CNBC. I think her on-screen appeal suffered from the lack of HD on Bloomberg.

I could see her on a cable beat for WSJ or the like.

  2. The few times I saw her on the morning Bloomberg shift, she looked exhausted. It was a marked difference from the woman who did the business breaks during Hardball.

  3. Seems to me Margaret got upstaged by those flashing their “gams” and promoting cleavage. I have nothing against either and rather enjoy it but the fact is that I got used to “good ole Margaret”… She seemed to allow guests to voice their points instead of continually interrupting to impress the audience with her depth of understanding of the issues ….I’m kind of sorry to see her go… Good luck Maggie — look forward to seeing you elsewhere.

  4. Their loss. She was trained by rukeyser, and is a PBS girl at heart. CNN should hire her, she would be a better add than Burnnet. Carol Massar was also just cut as well, and should be picked up by a network. Both women were never supported at Bloomberg right, and would be valuable to any bigger network.

  5. I was stunned to learn of Brennan’s departure. To me, she was the face of Bloomberg, and a beautiful face at that. What was so impressive about her, however, was her intelligence and knowledge. This is a big loss. Boo Bloomberg.

  6. Margaret Brennan, Lizzy O’Leary, Carol Massar, if they get rid of Tom Keene and Juliet Goldberg…I’ll stop watching..
