A little surprising to see this kind of write up at politico. But, sometimes things are so obvious…
It has always been true with the MSM that when the bias becomes so obvious as to be undenialable, some of them recoil, and to be honest here, are truly offended.
^ I’m trying to remember back to 2008. I know AFTER the election many MSM folks basically said “yeah, we were in love with the guy, oops”. I don’t remember much of it during the campaign. But, I could be wrong. I can barely remember 3 days ago.
I think Romney is doing better in the polls is because people are tired of these hit pieces on Him and his wife by the MSM..
From the stupid dog story, the Ann Romney “never has worked a day in her life” story, the 40yo High school bully story, digging up a 150yo story about Mormon led killings,Ann’s horses and just attacks on his faith in general while at the same accusing anyone who says anything about Obama’s past racist is just pissing people off.
Great to see Maria Cardona accuse Republicans of hypocrisy for opposing sex-selective abortions while some also oppose the Violence Against Women Act. What sort of pretzel do you have to create to conflate the two?
Politico is falling for the same old crap. The right screams BIAS! loud enough, and eventually the straight news media starts triple-checking itself for it, and caving to the right. This is embarrassing. Mitt Romney is a serial liar now standing by a race-baiting birther. The press should be exposing him, not apologizing because another “Obama smoked pot” story interests no one.
^ Haha. Always living in an alternate universe.
If it “interests no one”, then you shouldn’t have a problem with it. The press has plenty of time to cover something that Mitt Romney did when HE was 18, so I see no issue with covering this. Stupid is as stupid does.
I don’t have a problem with it. I also don’t have a problem with it not being on the front page. The dude’s been President for 3 and a 1/2 years, and his drug usage was documented long before that. The detail that he was particularly good at holding a hit in college is not noteworthy. The contender we’re still learning about gets the front page feature. Politico is being silly.
This primarily is a character issue with the willingness to bend the truth.
You’d think that liberals would be more upset with that, since they’re the ones constantly promoting “victimized” groups. Warren adopted the mantle (mantel?) of “victim” in order to advance her career. Kinda shows what a scam it all is.
Oh, lots of details in Obama’s drug past now flesh out surface confessions that glossed over its extent. What else did he gloss over. Inquiring minds want to know. Except on a few other planets:
“The contender we’re still learning about ”
That would be Obama.
I’m gonna repeat this one more time ’cause y’all don’t get it. The only people who care about Obama partying in college are the people who already don’t like him. It’s a non-story for everyone else. Most of us who voted for him did the same thing.
Reapeat it again. Will still not be true. Independents and Democrat Bull-doggers are taking a second look to see if they pull the lever again for Hopy Changer.
If that’s the case, Joe, then who cares about what Romney did in H.S., what his church did 100 years ago or what his wife does in her free time?
Gosh, maybe it’s the press’ job to report what’s out there, and not attempt to divine who might be interested.
I’m not going to argue disconnected points with you, LS. Nobody cares about partying in college. Most people do it, it doesn’t matter.
Want some whiskey in your water, sugar in your tea? Better check with Bloomberg.
Gosh, maybe a paper has to make editorial decisions based on news value. I already said it got its proper place in the paper. I never complained about publishing.
the liberal world:
* what Mitt Romney did to his dog decades ago: completely relelvant.
* what Barack Obama did to his dog decades ago: completely irrelevant.
* the way Mitt Romney treated people in his high school days: important news.
* the way Barack Obama treated people in his high school days: a non-story.
* things said by people who went to Mitt Romney’s church 100 years ago: breaking news.
* things said 5 years ago by the preacher that Barack Obama modeled himself after: old news.
* Bush’s drug/alcohol exploits in his youth: a window into his soul.
* Obama’s drug exploits in his youth: the racism of his opponents.
Let’s see, the guy whose people put your kid in prison for milder crimes than he committed? Tell me more.
Um, could it possibly be that liberals aren’t too pleased with Obama’s stand on legalization, or does it have to be some paranoid fantasy about the press caving to conservatives?
Newt was on MJ this morning. I wonder if, after the election, he will be MSNBC’s new Pat Buchanan? On MJ, Joe asked him about his appearance on Hardball and Newt said, – good-naturedly – that the reason Chris Matthews keeps his show is because Chris is “slightly whacked.” That got a big laugh from Joe.
Dan Rather claims there is no media bias. He should know,
This is twice now that politico has reported something in support of a conservative argument that they’ve then felt the need to report on the fall out from it. It’s telling that they don’t do that in the reverse. Politico cites criticism from Josh Marshall at TPM, Eric Wemple from the Wash. Post & GQ. Neat.
Team Obama means all boats should sail in the same direction.
One gets off course, and it makes waves.
Watching Edwards’ speech just now made me throw up in my mouth a little.
savefarris: I saw the ceremony live and I thought… he is not going to go there, is he? I was disgusted at those particular comments and thought once again was a very small person our current president is.
His speechwriters put this crap in a statement and he accepts it and spews it forth like it’s no big deal. Talk about respect for the “position” of President. He just cannot suck it up for a few hours and put his animosity towards Bush aside.
Here is something that confuses me. I really don’t know what to make of it:
