He’s such a regular fixture I decided to modify my usual banner headline for today. Anyway bombs away…

He should just say “Lord, I apologize” like Larry the Cable Guy, and we can all simultaneously smack ourselves. Or something.

Four attractive young conservatives, and this bumbling old caricature of a liberal who can’t watch his language. The only thing more offensive than the setup is that Beckel takes the payday to play into it.

Doesn’t bother me as I appreciate some colourful language now and then. Still, I don’t buy it. He’s done this enough that I’m thinking it’s intentional. A year ago Beckel was still a part-timer in the studio (although certainly not a novice) and such a rare moment might be understandable. Not any longer as he’s on almost every day, part of it reading the prompter, and he can’t possibly forget where he’s at. It’s a cable show so no biggie.

Beckel apologized and put his $ in the “Bob’s Swear Jar”, and in a real act of class, Eric Bolling ponied up as well, stating that it was he who made Bob swear!

Beckel’s been around the block on TV. Remember, he was on Crossfire years ago.

OK, who is holding a gun to poor widdle Joey’s head and making him watch a TV show he doesn’t like? Hang in there, Joey! Help is on the way!

Well, at least Bolling was willing to apologize. Bob is bound to slip up like this, but to a level, who could blame him with what he has to deal with on a daily basis, though he signed up for the show of course. At least this is as much of the Five I’ve seen in weeks.

I’m with Al on this one. Doesn’t bother me at all and it is now starting to look contrived. Really, it is cable – why can’t they let the f-bomb fly?
August 15, 2012 at 3:35 pm
Why does the Token Liberal have to be a bumbling old fool? On The Cycle they have four attractive young hosts, and the Token Conservative is one of them.
August 15, 2012 at 3:43 pm
It’d be as if The Cycle had one of Hannity’s bozo guests on by himself.

I agree with Al as well – this is starting to seem intentional. He’s been on TV a long time and just recently the guy can’t control his use of language?

I’m so tempted to disagree with Al…
Anyway, while many of his liberal opinions are foolish, I don’t see Beckel as any sort of fool. With perhaps the exception of Juan Williams, the personal lives and histories of all the programme’s hosts are frequent daily subtopics. It’s just that Beckel’s history is more… ripe than most – and no way that’s a bad thing. He’s clearly a kind and considerate man and he does a good job of presenting his viewpoints.
