  1. Fiscal Cliff hype is getting old so not hot

    Patreaus resignation hot

  2. Meh… can’t think of much that happened this week.

  3. This, to me, is ‘Hot’. The one thing that strikes me, since this election, is how much time has been utterly wasted listening to these people. EVERYthing that they said was wrong, especially ones to whom I was more inclined to listen (admittedly with great doubt, at the end). Not just that Romney would ‘win’, but ALL the assumptions that led to the conclusion. It was totally wrong

This one is fun. It should be posted like an OSHA warning, or put up as a disclaimer when they appear on shows.

And this guy got savaged. How dare he use numbers, and not check Dan Rather’s gut?

Got moderated for three links. Poop. Eventually it’ll show up, with a link about Nate Silver. That guy was savaged. How dare he use numbers and figures, and not rely on Dan Rather’s gut?

  5. Hot: Petraeus resignation.

Not: The weak response to Hurricane Sandy. Ten days after Sandy, there are people in NYC walking 6 or more blocks to find food. Heck of a job, Barry. Enjoy your 2-week non-essential trip to the Far East.

  6. This is where my tedious little complaint about the Fox Babes (and Fox in general) comes in. Do Guilfoyle and Tantaros (or name any other) exist to inform us in any way about politics, or do they exist for entertainment? It’s stupid to even ask the question. Did either of them…or any non-liberal political/entertainment person on that network…predict or even suspect that Obama might win? Did it occur to any of these “experts” that exuding anger and smug overconfidence might have been a bad way to get people to turn out? Just a thought.

  7. Hot: the only thing more fun than winning is Wednesday morning quarterbacking the loser.

Not: Petraeus conspiracy theories. Pretty much bunk thinks Larry in the third person.

  8. I feel bad for Petraeus’ wife. They say that the affair was about to be exposed, and he resigned to save her from the humiliation. Because pictures of Mrs and The Babe on CNN is totally not humiliating.

I know people who were absolutely shocked that Romney lost. That bothers me almost as much as the loss itself. Maintaining confidence is one thing, delusion is a problem.

  9. HOT – I just watched HBO’s Game Change and didn’t know Palin was that stupid. In other words, I figured she at least had the knowledge of a 10th grader.

NOT HOT – Just think, something like 58 million people voted for McCain/Palin.

  10. @caps321

Watching a hit piece on Palin, and thinking it’s a documentary that shows lack of curiosity. If she was so stunningly stupid why take the time and money to bother to make a movie about her?

Last time I checked Palin wasn’t on the 2012 republican ticket so what does that have to do with what’s hot or not in the present tense? I mean besides only having old stale troll bait of course.

  11. Palin was smart enough to have been elected mayor of Wasilla twice and governor of Alaska once.

  12. keyboard jockey — Steve Schmidt & Nicolle Wallace basically said it was accurate. So, who am I to believe? McCain and Palin? Yeah, right. I guess the Katie Couric interview was just a hit piece too, eh?

Last time I checked Palin wasn’t on the 2012 republican ticket so what does that have to do with what’s hot or not in the present tense? I mean besides only having old stale troll bait of course.

Can you imagine Palin winning the 2012 presidency? Yikes.

carolmr — The enormity of the situation in the NYC area must be beyond your grasp. Therefore, thinking the US Government has enough ‘troops’ (active, reserve, or guard) to fix everything today including trucking in water & bloomers is a non starter. In other words, we need to be stationed in places like the DMZ & Japan because they’re much more important than what’s going on here at home, eh?

Palin was smart enough to have been elected mayor of Wasilla twice and governor of Alaska once.

Obviously those backwoods folk in Wasilla are bout as smart as the moose hunter.

  13. “Obviously those backwoods folk in Wasilla are bout as smart as the moose hunter.”

    I hope you’re kidding.

  14. CAPS is too stupid to be a good troll.

  15. Becoming even HOTTER:

“The decision was made to delay the resignation apparently to avoid potential embarrassment to the president before the election,” an FBI source says. “To leave him in such a sensitive position where he was vulnerable to potential blackmail for months compromised our security and is inexcusable.”

  16. Hot: What Laura said. Fox News in particular used punditry as propaganda instead of analysis. They told their viewers what they wanted to happen, not what they thought might actually happen. Then when it went pear-shaped, some idiot with 300 million invested in the outcome freaked out on air, embarrassing two anchors who had gone to great extremes to separate themselves from most of the crap their network dishes in order to run a decent Election Night show. Congratulations..great show, everybody..

  17. ^^Yes the vast left wing conspiracy strikes again. This time dozens of FBI agents CIA officials, Dept. of Justice personal, high ranking WH staff and Obama campaign operatives together with General Petraeus and the President combine to hide an extra-marital affair by the General to ensure the POTUS gets reelected. A story worthy of Tom Clancy.

  18. Report says nothing about the President nor Clinton yet. Just FBI keeping things on the back burner. That’s happened more than once you know.

  19. Unless “FBI source” has prove that POTUS knew about the situation, and advised Petraeus to hold off resigning, there’s nothing there. The story so far is that when advised of his resignation a couple days ago, Obama tried to talk him out of it then. Which means there was no point at which he considered the affair a fireable offense.

And Joe, if I were in CA I’d poop on your front porch. Rove and Trippi gave an excellent running review of their views of the likely outcome with me buying the Trippi arguments and predicting Obama’s win a week before the election. Chris Matthew’s outburst heck of a lot more outrageous than anything Rove did.

  21. There is plenty there without their involvement, dummy.

  22. Chris Matthew’s outburst heck of a lot more outrageous than anything Rove did.

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER GUY THAT OTHER TIME?

  23. Grandpa Dave Says:

HOT: CNN tops FNC on Election Coverage.
    HOT: Capus to CNN?

NOT: Chris Matthews cheers for Sandy.
    NOT: Rove vs Decision Desk.

  24. I’d poop on Fritz’s front porch for all the bad names he’s called me, but all I know is he doesn’t live in Florida.

  25. Hey Kelly. Take it easy there, sport.

  26. Grandpa Dave, FOX says they won election night. Someone should sort this out.

Not: According to FOX, Hillary refuses to testify at the Benghazi hearings.

  27. Hillary Clinton is the Secretary Of State. If you think an SOS is going to show up a Congressional hearing with anything short of a subpoena, you’re crazy.

  28. Grandpa Dave Says:

^carolmr – Yes, depending on how much of the day/night you include. Naturally CNN counts only the prime+ hours. FNC counts the whole night, including the wee small hours. Even if you consider FNC winning, it still shows the CNN “place people go when news happens” meme still has some validity.

  29. Clnton isn’t testifying because of a scheduling conflict. I would not be surprised if she didn’t testify at a later date.

    http://washingtonexaminer.com/house-asked-clinton-to-testify-on-benghazi-but-she-declines-due-to-scheduling-conflict/article/2513151

  30. Not: Rasmussen, I seem to recall Mr Bill saying that he’d be on the inaccurate polls the day after the election. Instead, he had Scott and some other guy discussing the results. Oops.
    http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/11/10/which-polls-fared-best-and-worst-in-the-2012-presidential-race/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

  31. Of course..that’s the FNC Way: Come up with some crowd-pleasing BS, then when it doesn’t play out, come up with some new crowd-pleasing BS. Because the crowd is happy being BSed, and doesn’t give a damn about facts. Yay.

  32. HOT: Watching Karl Rove’s head explode election night was certainly a highlight of the evening. Its always entertaining to see a group of people so steeped in denial be confronted with a harsh reality that they haven’t had time to explain away. I didn’t think Romney seemed shellshocked but a whole lot of Republicans sure did.

HOT: This Petraeus story is getting more complicated by the day. Now there are 2 women? Yeeks, this is getting ugly. I agree with Laura, I feel so, so sorry for Holly Petraeus having to watch this all play out on TV. Its just so sad.

NOT: Speculation on who is going to replace Walton at CNN Worldwide. I, personally, think it is a fun parlor game but really, CNN needs to hurry up and get this done. Dragging this out and allowing people to chat about rumors online is not helping.

Yeah, MSNBC folks are gloating now over the election victory but they ought to take heed from Fox’s failures to accurately inform their audience. MSNBC can run the risk of being the same kind of echo chamber on the left and they can’t just be a channel that rails on Republicans. MSNBC should be aware – it is possible to go to far with their progressive talk and they should step back and remember they are there first to inform not advocate.

  33. Oh, another NOT: CNN vs. Fox ratings on election night. Please, CNN for once had a decent night, just let them have it. As usual, their ratings have tanked since then and they are back in a distant third place. Also, CNN should stop whining that their ratings suck because they haven’t picked a side in the political race. Feist can act all smug and superior that they are the only neutral ones in cable news but he is in denial if he thinks their ratings problems are because they are neutral. No, its cuz you suck and you and your fellow execs are slowly killing the CNN brand. Walton is on a long list on people that need to leave CNN.

  34. “Yeah, MSNBC folks are gloating now over the election victory but they ought to take heed from Fox’s failures to accurately inform their audience. MSNBC can run the risk of being the same kind of echo chamber on the left and they can’t just be a channel that rails on Republicans. They have long passed the point of “running the risk” of anything.

…and who needs Fox BS with Joe fertilizing our garden.

  35. I seem to recall that MS was fairly shocked at the Wisconsin recall, because the polling was off. Good times. Of course, if I had to hear about how unreliable polling is one more time..

  36. Haven’t seen Fox News Watch yet. I wonder how many seconds they will spend reflecting on their own network. Stupid question, I know.

  37. Hot: liberals dance on the grave of Republican Party

Not: Conservatives forced to cling to their guns, religion and FNC until the wave of terror passes.

  38. the Brit MailOnline.com

A source said last night: ‘The real question is, what did the President know, and when?’
Frances Townsend, a former senior US government security official and now a member of the CIA Advisory Committee, said: ‘Whenever the FBI opens an investigation of a senior official they have to make notification of that, especially if there is an intelligence concern.
‘It is hard to believe the White House did not know about this prior to the election.’

Suffering: General Petraeus’ wife of 37 years Holly, will be in shock over the revelations
White House officials insist the President did not know of the affair until last Wednesday, the day after the election.

  39. Ok, MSNBC is a little newer to the partisan cable news game than Fox is. I’m just saying, they shouldn’t overplay their hand. Many anchors on Fox have entered fantasyland a while ago. MSNBC is now standing on the threshold – I hope they don’t go all in. Of course, it is probably expecting too much to want preening cable news personalities to dial back their ego and self-righteousness. Once they get a little taste of success, that is often interpreted as a reason to go farther, faster.

Laura, good point on the recall, but I would say it was Ed who was shocked, the rest not as much. The disappointment was palpable though. Just a reminder to MSNBC folks that they are just as susceptible – if they thought Fox was ugly on election night, they would be wise to look in the mirror. I must say though, seeing Joe Scarborough with egg on his face was the ultimate schadenfreude.

  40. We are all shocked and saddened by Gen. Petreaus’s behavior but I don’t think you can pin this on Obama as a cover up. Really?!?! IF they knew before the election, I am glad they waited until AFTER the election to get rid of him. Doing it before would not have changed the outcome of the election (because let’s face it, Republicans have claimed Petraeus as their own) and it just would have been all the more politically charged. I am quite certain the person at fault here is David Petraeus. End of story.

  41. Nixon was going to defeat McGovern in a landslide. Handwriting was on the wall. Why would anyone in his administration break in the DNC headquarters? Crazy to even imagine it. Just some wacko Cuban refuges. End of story.

  42. Elle, I didn’t see Rove’s head explode. Everyone is describing him as acting like a raving madman on election night. I thought he was quite reasonable and calm. He objected on the election nights in 2000 and 2004 and he turned out to be right, so there is some precedent for his questioning of a call.

  43. Partisans saw Rove’s head explode because that’s what they wanted to see. Also the same old liberal claptrap that if they repeat something often enough it will be taken as true.

  44. Oh please. Rove made a fool of himself, and dragged Bret and Megyn with him. You can’t have a Romney SuperPAC guy second-guessing the journalists on air on Election Night. It was a disaster.

  45. Just some good TV. Wasn’t like he went nuts like your boys do.

  46. NOT HOT: Dan Rather’s gut. Colder than a lamb chop at a Texas barbecue.
