NOT: Greta once again trotting out the highly irrelevant – and increasingly bizarre-looking – Sarah Palin to complain about the media, and holler about how Fox News is the super most awesomest. What is it about that network that they feel compelled to defend themselves all the time?
HOT: Rachel Maddow’s latest Lean Forward spot, derived from her show the day after the election:
“We’re not going to have a Supreme Court that will overturn Roe vs. Wade. We’re not going to repeal health reform. We’re not going to give a 20% tax cut to millionaires and billionaires. We’re not going to amend the United States Constitution to stop g@y people from getting married. We’re not eliminating the Dept. of Energy. We are not letting Detroit go bankrupt. We’re not vetoing The Dream Act. We had the choice to do that…and we said no.”
It’s a liberal utopia, and this country supports it. The GOP is going to have to grow up and ditch their stupid Tea Party faction, or face a future as a strictly regional political force.
“This country” is about to see Barack Obama turn us all into California, and the 55% of us with a brain will turn it back. The rest of you will keep screaming “racist”.
I didn’t call anyone racist. I <said that McCain and his band of idiots – including Fox News – look like sexist, race-baiting morons for turning the Benghazi story into an attack on one black woman. This is the kind of thing this country is rejecting from the GOP, and they better catch on quick or get left behind.
Conservatism as a philosophy is a viable alternative to liberalism. Unfortunately, it’s currently tied to an incredibly stupid political party.
NOT: I’m getting sick of the “created news” crap from FNC. Former AG Michael Mukasey (Republican, of course) wrote a Rice-bashing editorial for The Wall Street Journal (Murdoch-owned), which now qualifies as “new concerns” for Judge Jeanine to b!tch about tonight on Fox (Murdoch-owned). This “concern” has been generated entirely within the News Corp empire, and will now be commented on by the same empire as if it’s “something”.
Next week, they’ll have another video from 1996 that shows Obama likes communism because he thinks poor people shouldn’t be left to starve to death. FOX sucks.

Right… 3-4 million people did… kinda.
Joe (and others) seem to believe that Obama’s slight victory amongst the population, means people actually agree with him. Yet, time and time again, we’ve seen that people like HIM, but not necessarily his policies.
But please, go on believing it’s the policies that carries you in, not the personality. See how well that works out for you in the future.
Or maybe we re-elected a president in a bad economy (unheard of) because the thought of conservative policies and a conservative Supreme Court made voters ill.
Well, news reports just hitting that Hillary doesn’t want Susan Rice at Sec. Of State, and wants Kerry. Apparently she did not get the “….Republican as racists memo…” The Communist wing of the Dems are pushing ,along with their fellow travelers in the media.
There was really only one Hot/Not Hot story this week; CNN hires Jeff Zucker to run their network. Whether it’s Hot or Not Hot depends on how you feel about Zucker as a cable news executive.
You could give an honorable mention to MSNBC’s big ratings jump over the last year but that story may be better left to the year end Hot/Not Hot list.
“Next week, they’ll have another video from 1996 that shows Obama likes communism because he thinks poor people shouldn’t be left to starve to death. FOX sucks.”
I should think that you’d want to take credit for those things as “liberalism”, but suit yourself. Those things are fine, as long as there’s a conservative party to keep them from being used to buy votes. Unfortunately, there isn’t.
My point (obviously) is that most conservatives who b!tch about government programs and regulation would be duly shocked by the craphole society would become if they got what they claim they want. Ya know why I stopped being a conservative? Because it doesn’t make sense.

Conservatives aren’t actually lobbying for anarchy and you know it. They also aren’t trying to bankrupt the country as quickly as possible. And i don’t know how you can argue that’s not the liberal grand plan.
That’s an utterly immature view of conservatism, at best. At worst, it’s a conscious lie. Neither is worthy of discussion, especially after four years. Have fun debating something that doesn’t exist.

“Limited” government != “no” government. Maybe it’s hard to find things conservatives would leave untouched is because they believe the Constitution is supposed to limit the areas the Feds are supposed to lord over and that we’re well past those bounds already. 10th Amendment and all that jazz…

It’s no secret that conservatives donate more to charity, perform more volunteer work, donate more blood and are better tippers than liberals.
Don’t take my word for it. Read this article in the New York Times ( that’s right New York Times!), hilariously titled “Bleeding Heart Tightwads”. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/21/opinio…
Charities don’t have reliable budgets, and can’t provide the safety net required of a civilized industrial society. Conservatives know this. The problem is they don’t care.
Bob Costas uses a murder suicide to advocate for gun control during half time of SNF on NBC. no surprise that its Costas or that it happened on NBC. but, what liberal media?
You could outlaw all guns, make this a police state, and those two people would still be dead. He could have snapped her neck like a twig and jumped off a bridge. I don’t like the word “tragedy” here. This was a murderer committing murder and then suicide. Just because he was a linebacker doesn’t change that.
I’ve always wondered how much conservatives would donate to charity if you eliminated that tax deduction. Also, it’s an indisputable fact that conservatives tend to make more money than liberals because they generally work in the Military Industrial Complex or Wall Street.
Also, the NY Times column uses IRS data. I only speak for myself here when I say I have never ever ever written off charitable donations as a tax credit (even though I’m “entitled” to it).
What an insulting dip. I, like many people give to charity while taking the standard deduction. This is a guy just talking for the sake of talking. His last sentence shows people should not take him seriously.
“Probably the same amount. After all, a healthy majority of conservatives are religous and thus tax breaks aren’t the driving force for their giving.”
You will NEVER see “religious” conservatives line up to donate to Food Banks the way they lined up to support Chick-fil-A because they don’t like gay marriage.

It was a really disappointing.performance by all concerned.
You will NEVER see “religious” conservatives line up to donate to Food Banks the way they lined up to support Chick-fil-A because they don’t like same-sex marriage.
So your beef is that religious conservatives don’t make a big show of their donations saying “LOOK AT ME BEING SO CHARITABLE! AND HUMBLE!!!” when giving to the less fortunate?
Got it.
Comparing that to the Chick-Fil-A thing is beyond bizzarre.
You can’t pay for them if you keep cutting taxes for rich people
You can’t pay for them by raising taxes on the rich either. The money just isn’t there.
You’re going to have to raise taxes on the middle class in order to generate enough revenue. And while “tax that guy over there I’m jealous of” always does well at the polls, Walter Mondale showed us just how popular the“no go ahead: please take more of my money” platform is.

I’d dispute that. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/obama-wins-8-10-wealthiest-154837437.html

Hey, at least we found something to talk about. Take a look at the list Spud ended up with. It was a pretty slow week.
