Rep. Peter King completely lashed out at Boehner and Company on the House floor, and on CNN this morning, over their decision not to have a vote, at all, on Hurricane Sandy relief funding.
Don’t be fooled, this is nothing more than Republican leadership trying to punish Chris Christie for praising Obama which, in their fantasy, is the only reason Obama won.
January 2, 2013 at 9:57 am
… OR … maybe we shouldn’t be loading up a relief funding package with the other white meat.
In unrelated news, we officially hit the debt limit Monday…
January 2, 2013 at 10:34 am
Interesting. The thing about all this is that it’s not a terrible deal from our perspective, but we’re acting as though it is. I’m not sure how that plays out, but it sure makes us look flaky and deranged in the interim.
http://www.tnr.com/blog/noam-scheiber/111543/the-house-comes-around-the-cliff-why-am-i-not-reassured#
For absolute spin-sake, we should be saying that this not only validated Bush’s tax-cuts, which Dems have bitched about for years, but they can no longer talk about the “rich” not paying enough (which was always BS). They got what they wanted, and it won’t magically lead to a balanced budget…which we didn’t actually have when Clinton left office. We had a National Debt of whatever the hell it was…but I digress. The point is, this was going to happen. Everyone knew it. We could have played it a whole lot cooler than we did. Signing on to tax-increases was a whole lot more of a ‘thing’ because we made it that way. People can accept political realities, and the ones who can’t weren’t terribly impressed by the whole show, leading to the same outcome. Easy to say in retrospect, but whatever.
January 2, 2013 at 10:34 am
There’s a separate bill House Republicans have drafted that eliminates all the “pork” spending. Why don’t Boehner and Cantor allow a vote on that one?
January 2, 2013 at 11:04 am
After getting a two week break from Megyn Kellys acting it’s back in full force today. She is very hyper today.
January 2, 2013 at 11:15 am
It’s going to get done. King needs to take a pill.

January 2, 2013 at 11:51 am
It’ll happen, but the Republicans still have to do a little more grandstanding, bs political theatrical chest thumping before they do.
I bet that this bill would’ve been passed last year if it included repeals of gun laws, new abortion restrictions or if Chris Christie hadn’t embraced Obama.
January 2, 2013 at 12:05 pm
Christie, on the other hand, that’s gonna leave a mark.
January 2, 2013 at 12:11 pm
CNN covering Chris Christie presser. MSNBC covering “Fiscal Cliff” deal/Sandy bill vote. FOX covering Benghazi as usual.
January 2, 2013 at 12:14 pm
Fox is discussing Benghazi over Christie?!? Okay, that’s it. I’d love to know how much of this they covered.
January 2, 2013 at 12:17 pm
CNN still with presser. MSNBC at commercial. FOX now discussing EPA “scandal”.
January 2, 2013 at 12:18 pm
Watching FOX talk about Obama “scandals” is like watching Nancy Grace.
January 2, 2013 at 12:19 pm
I can’t believe that MS isn’t covering this. I totally believe that Fox isn’t. This is a total disaster, you should pardon the expression.,
January 2, 2013 at 12:20 pm
CNN has dumped out of Christie presser.
January 2, 2013 at 12:25 pm
NewsNation has quickly become my least favorite MSNBC program. They don’t cover Breaking News, at all and it’s more political than any other show on that network.
January 2, 2013 at 12:29 pm
FNC is expected to be useless, but how could MSNBC skip Christie?
January 2, 2013 at 12:30 pm
I’m waiting for Chris Christie to rip off his shirt, turn green, yell “Hulk Smash” and start destroying stuf.
January 2, 2013 at 12:31 pm
Yeah, you would think that a show that is “more political” would cover, I don’t know, politics.
January 2, 2013 at 12:33 pm
FOX looks more like a right wing blog nowadays. It’s a joke.
January 2, 2013 at 12:35 pm
Benghazi? Seriously? Did they giggle about Hillary’s “illness”, too..?
January 2, 2013 at 12:40 pm
Note: If Chris Christie calls you, return his call. ASAP.
January 2, 2013 at 12:47 pm
ICYMI.

Epic stuff here.
January 2, 2013 at 1:02 pm
Ah, Studio B is leading with Sandy. I just know that Christie will be up any minute.
January 2, 2013 at 1:15 pm
Conservatives who complain about the payroll tax going back up irritate me. There is no way in hell that a Republican president would have reinstated that, and we were never crazy about it to begin with. It’s supposed to be a contribution to Social Security that everyone pays. Quit screwing with it.
January 2, 2013 at 1:36 pm
There’s a separate bill House Republicans have drafted that eliminates all the “pork” spending. Why don’t Boehner and Cantor allow a vote on that one?
From what I’ve read, it was Cantor that drafted that version. Why Boehner won’t put it to a vote I have no idea. … But like it matters, because anything the House passes is DOA in the Senate thanks to Harry “Compromise means My Way or the Highway” Reid.
I bet that this bill would’ve been passed last year if it included repeals of gun laws, new abortion restrictions
It would have passed the House, but again …
January 2, 2013 at 1:44 pm
Looks like the verbal takedown from Chris Christie got the ball rolling.
January 2, 2013 at 2:31 pm
MSNBC just reported a “rumor” that Speaker Boehner is resigning tonight.
January 2, 2013 at 2:46 pm
Anyone get the feeling that Boehner blew off the Sandy vote cuz he was p\ssed and wanted to go home?

Al-Jazeera buying Current. Sit back and watch RW heads explode.
January 2, 2013 at 2:56 pm
“What do you do when you have credit card debt and don’t have the money to pay for it? You get more money.”
How do you suppose you’ll get that money? Rob a bank? This spending mentality will doom every nation on the face of the earth. I have a hard time believing everything that any government spends on is necessary.
January 2, 2013 at 2:56 pm
- Al Jazeera-
I can’t wait for the first time that they do a better job than the ones we already have.
January 2, 2013 at 3:09 pm
Al Jazeera in talks to buy Current TV:
Somewhere, Keith Olbermann is saying “I’m baaaaaaack”!
January 2, 2013 at 3:22 pm
After years of demonizing anyone who was in favor of keeping the Bush tax cuts, President Obama agrees to keep the Bush tax cuts. In fact, they are now the law.
January 2, 2013 at 3:24 pm
While I find Al Jazeera jokes funny, if people on the right in America actually gave AJE a try (it’s free on their website), they probably wouldn’t hate it as much. It’s brand is becoming popular in Latin America, Africa along with Europe.
January 2, 2013 at 3:34 pm
Outsider, same holds true for CBS. My Republican friend criticize CBS News to death (they’re still bitter over Dan Rather 2004 incident). When they actually watch CBS This Morning and CBS Evening News, they actually like it.
January 2, 2013 at 3:39 pm
CNN has now, today, TWICE falsely reported that Secretary Clinton’s been released from hospital.
January 2, 2013 at 3:47 pm
RE:AJE
There’s a reason the Bush Administration wanted Al-Jazeera off the air, so much so that they were considering bombing Al-Jazeera headquarters. It’s the same reason nations have tried to pull Al-Jazeera off the air during the Arab Spring. They don’t play a role as anyone’s propaganda outlet.
When I lived near DC, I got AJE over-the-air on WNVC. Watched them when Tripoli fell. They do a good job. Looking forward to this.
January 2, 2013 at 4:05 pm
AJE covered the cliff bill vote while CNBC stayed on tape. P
January 2, 2013 at 4:12 pm
^ Sad, but true.
January 2, 2013 at 4:20 pm
Someone called Lauren Ashburn was on Hardball lamenting all the “Benghazi flu” crap Hillary got for cracking her head. This airhead had the audacity to compare it to some idiots on Twitter saying cruel things about Bush Sr. last week, pretending that both sides are the same blah blah blah. That’s complete crap. People were laughing about Sec. Clinton ON FOX NEWS. REPEATEDLY. I’m so sick of false equivalence. Point out the bad guy; blame the bad guy. Don’t BS me with “everybody does it”.
January 2, 2013 at 4:42 pm
Any chance we get an apology or I was wrong from Bill O’Reilly or Laura Ingraham for mocking Hillary Clinton on The Factor?
Laura Ingraham really sounded like a jerk.
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/oreilly-and-laura-ingraham-take-on-benghazi-hearings-hillary-clintons-immaculate-concussion/
January 2, 2013 at 4:44 pm
Judge Jeanine and John Bolton should say something, too, but it won’t happen. Bolton has already dismissed an apology as not warranted. Because, as usual, he’s a pig.
January 2, 2013 at 4:52 pm
Jeanine reported it on Saturday or Sunday, and said nothing. She just launched into Benghazi.
January 2, 2013 at 5:04 pm
Could we compare to the Bush Sr vomit/illness incident from his Presidency?
January 2, 2013 at 5:05 pm
Manny, you are wrong about O’Reilly. In fact he said it was stupid to think Hillary was lying about her concussion. And speaking about apologies, why didn’t Joe Scarborough apologize this morning? Last week he and Steve Rattner were talking about Hillary’s condition and clearly Joe was mocking it. He wanted to know what hospital she was in because he wanted to send her flowers. Rattner asked him why he was being so snarky, or some such adjective, and Joe said when someone is a friend and she is sick, you send flowers. He, Joe, looked like he was going to burst into laughter.
January 2, 2013 at 5:05 pm
Ooh.. or the Bush Jr versus the pretzel incident?
January 2, 2013 at 5:06 pm
Oh, and Hannity and Krauthammer, too. Hannity is hopeless, but I’m surprised by Kraut. He actually questioned the diagnosis of “severe” concussion. Disgusting.
January 2, 2013 at 5:12 pm
WTF are you wanking off about Blue?
January 2, 2013 at 5:48 pm
People skeptical of the honesty of a Clinton? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
January 2, 2013 at 5:50 pm
“Anyone get the feeling that Boehner blew off the Sandy vote cuz he was p\ssed and wanted to go home?” – Laura
Maybe because no one should vote on a $60 BILLION bill without going over it with a fine-tooth comb? There was a lot in that bill that had nothing to do with Sandy relief. In a few days they will vote for immediate emergency money for the states affected by Sandy. But this episode gave Christie, King, and Schumer plenty of air time to show their constituents that they care.
January 2, 2013 at 5:51 pm
^ See? They’re still doing it. She cracked her head and got a blood clot, you idiot.
January 2, 2013 at 5:56 pm
“People skeptical of the honesty of a Clinton? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!”- Lonestar
Even liberal Dr. Nancy Snyderman was on MJ this morning and said she thought the way Mrs. Clinton’s condition was presented to the press was strange. She was NOT questioning Clinton’s honesty; she just thought too little info was given, such as where the blood clot was located. Even today, she said, people are assuming that the blood clot is in Hillary’s brain because her people are saying it’s a blot clot in her head. Snyderman thinks more detailed information should have been given.
January 2, 2013 at 6:03 pm
Yeah, screw privacy!! Hillary Clinton should release her medical records to the press because a couple of blowhards on FOX News made up another “scandal”.
January 2, 2013 at 6:12 pm
If anything was being “covered up”, it may have been the thing that preceded the fall (if there was one). It could be that a serious health issue caused her to fall, or that the story was created as a cover for other medical treatment. In any case, questioning the validity of her condition should be left to idiots like us who don’t get paid for our opinions.
January 2, 2013 at 6:22 pm
Bill O’Reilly is starting to sound like Sean Hannity with his bashing of Barack Obama post election.
He’s still going with the why did people vote for Obama question to his guests.
We get it Bill you hate Obama. It’s not adding much to the show.
There seems to be no time in the show for Hillary Clinton or non vote by the house on the Sandy Bill.
January 2, 2013 at 6:26 pm
“She cracked her head and got a blood clot,”
^^Joe: I think that is still a topic for discussion. Some of the more recent medical opinion I’ve seen says dehydration caused by the original virus is a more likely cause. That idea makes some sense – to me anyway.
January 2, 2013 at 6:31 pm
@ Andy
If reading comprehension is that difficult for you, you should take it up with your former educators.
I’m not sure I’m interested in teaching you how to read, scroll, or remember concepts from comment to comment.
January 2, 2013 at 6:37 pm
The Sandy Bill did get 1min of coverage on The Factor during a segment with James Rosen. Full segment no.
January 2, 2013 at 7:24 pm
Joe, you of all people need not be holier than thou. Spare me. She’s a Clinton. If you play word association with “Clinton” nobody is going to say “honest”. Get over it.
January 2, 2013 at 7:26 pm
I will not “get over it”. There is no justification for accusing Sec. Clinton of lying about a head injury. You’re crazy.
January 2, 2013 at 7:38 pm
“Doubting” is one thing. You can report or comment on the pinheads online who “doubt” what she’s saying, if you choose. Broadcasting your own doubts and snarkiness on a national “news” channel is a whole other thing. “Some say” may be cheesy, but it serves a purpose. It would have been much better than having doctors and beauty queens essentially accusing the Secretary of State of lying.
January 2, 2013 at 7:39 pm
What about when the left accused McCain of hiding details about how bad his (removed) cancer was, and speculated that it was worse than disclosed… and used it as a reason why not to vote for him?
January 2, 2013 at 7:45 pm
Comparing the possibility that someone is downplaying how ill they are is exactly opposite the discussion we are having. Which is about mainstream hosts and guests on Fox News accusing Sec. Clinton of lying about a head injury. Keep digging.
January 2, 2013 at 7:53 pm
People have every right to speculate about whether or not Mrs Clinton’s health issues would preclude her from running in 2016. It would be tacky as hell, but they have every right. There is no comparison between that and accusing her of lying in order to avoid testimony. These are not difficult concepts.
January 2, 2013 at 7:53 pm
Sean Hannity just had another classic segment with Leo Terrell as a guest. Comedy gold.
Also ironic is they keep putting on screen to go to Hannity Live and when you do it says, “Hannity Live is currently closed.
We’ll be back in 2013.
Tune in on January 7 at 9pm ET for more Hannity Live.”
January 2, 2013 at 8:09 pm
The only good reason to watch Hannity is to get a good laugh or feel disgusted.
@Andy: AJE could easily be used for propaganda since it’s directly under the control of the ruling family in the United Arab Emirates. How long they’ll be nice to the staff is something that is on the back of people’s minds. I’ve read somewhere the family would occasionally play a role in the editorial process. It’s just hearsay but not surprising if the rumours are true.
January 2, 2013 at 8:10 pm
I agree with Laura.
I’m asking the questions of similar situations.
My personal opinion is that it’s tacky and inappropriate to speculate about such things. We should expect more from our politicians… lying about an injury to get out of testifying is amoral. And more importantly, why would it keep her permanently from testifying? That just seems stupid.
January 2, 2013 at 8:13 pm
What was the point of covering your ears if there’s an earpiece in it?
January 2, 2013 at 8:15 pm
The problem is that at some point, your “commentators” become nothing more than a bunch of nattering gossips. That’s fine for talk-radio or the internet, not so much for a national news channel. And I couldn’t begin to give a crap what they do on MSNBC, as far as comparisons go.
January 3, 2013 at 12:08 am
-Past Last-Minute Tax Law Compromise-
I’m a bit surprised – it’s not bad. Not great, either, but considering the divided government we have they worked-out something halfway decent. With the temporary FICA reduction gone everyone will be contributing more, and that’s fair. Mark my words, though, if there isn’t already some tax incentives included for some of the “wealthy” then some will show up in later legislation. As for that being Dem or Repub sponsored incentives, doesn’t matter.
-The only good reason to watch Hannity (& Hannity)-
It’s less painful than banging your head on the floor. Slightly.
-Sandy Bill Fail-
Gov. Christie will be facing a difficult re-election soon so his noise is expected, but whenever I hear Sen. Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. King (R-NY) rant like that on the same side of an issue I have to wonder about the money trail. The areas affected by Sandy are going to get federal monies so what’s the rush? Very little of whatever amounts would have been made available had that deal gone through were to be spent anytime soon so their arguments about the “emergency” need to push it through make no sense. As with most American political debates, this one is far more “regional” than it is “political party” and it smells heavily of something else in the works.
-Sec Clinton’s concussion-
I’m pretty sure her neurologist classified the injury as “mild”, not “severe”, so Krauthammer was probably correct.
-Dr. Nancy Snyderman thought…-
Dr. Snyderman is incorrect. The details of Mrs. Clinton’s blood clot were released to the press and even included information on the clot she had back in the late 90s. Was the clot caused by the concussion? Probably, but not necessarily. Her history suggests that she may be at a higher risk than most of developing them.
Damn good thing she had the MRI, and that’s standard protocol in the US for anyone. Had she been an average Canadian, though…
January 3, 2013 at 1:02 am
I didn’t understand Snyderman’s “concerns”, either. “Below the skull, behind the ear” is pretty specific. She had a stomach virus, then hit her head and got a concussion, then developed a blood clot. Where’s the mystery?
January 3, 2013 at 1:20 am
Had she been Canadian she would have jumped the queue like any other politician or went to a private clinic which most people can’t afford. Us ordinary folks would still be in line for 3 – 4 wks depending on the province – unless if she had some friends with political connection like those involved in a current public investigation.
January 3, 2013 at 5:43 pm
^ I can see Ontario from the upper floors of the hospital and it’s routine for Canadians to pay out-of-pocket for an exam and MRI. Not usually life-threatening conditions, but that does happen often enough to be a bit scary. If things are really busy some may need to schedule a separate appointment a few days out, but if the condition is serious enough I can be looking at their brain scan within an hour and we’ll deal with who pays for it later.
January 3, 2013 at 5:59 pm
-“Below the skull, behind the ear” is pretty specific.-
They were much more specific than that and so I must conclude that Dr. Snyderman didn’t properly prepare herself before commenting. Excerpted from the statement made by Sec. Clinton’s doctors:
“In the course of a routine follow-up MRI on Sunday, the scan revealed that a right transverse sinus venous thrombosis had formed.“
