HLN WELCOMES POPULAR TV PERSONALITY TY PENNINGTON AS HOST OF NEW MONTHLY SERIES AMERICAN JOURNEY PREMIERING JANUARY 12
10 Episode Series Reveals Power of American Spirit by Spotlighting Today’s Pioneers
January 2, 2013—Ty Pennington (star of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) has been named host of HLN’s monthly half-hour news series American Journey premiering Saturday, January 12, it was announced by Scot Safon, executive vice president & general manager HLN. Sponsored by Chevrolet, each monthly installment of the 10-episode series will be presented four times a month during weekend prime. The first edition kicks off Saturday, January 12, 8-8:30 p.m. ET, with an encore the following day (Sunday, 8 p.m. ET).
American Journey covers stories of individuals and communities who have found inventive and surprising ways to address today’s challenges by applying the lessons of American pioneers. Hosted by Pennington, the series will follow these fascinating people (part of a growing subculture of entrepreneurs and creative thinkers) as they attempt to re-invent America.
“American Journey is the latest way that HLN will spotlight the resourcefulness and resilience we find as we cover the American scene,” said Safon. “With programs like this, and our new daily program Making It In America, HLN is deepening and broadening its coverage of news stories that really hit home for our national audience. Ty’s television work demonstrates a great understanding of the American generosity, compassion and creativity that helps lift people to new levels, making him the perfect fit for this series.”American Journey will take a close-up look into the lives of people who don’t fit the “9 to 5” workday mold. Early episodes will feature unusual lifestyles that include occupants of an “intentional community” or commune, those of lobster fishermen and the Delta blues culture in America featuring interviews with actor Morgan Freeman and musician Robert Plant.
“I’ve covered a lot of ground across America as host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and seen first-hand the resilience of the American spirit regardless of the heavy burdens and obstacles they’ve faced. I’m happy to be part of American Journey and work with HLN to uncover inspirational stories that will surely have a positive impact on viewers,” said Pennington.

I bet this decision came from Jeffrey Zucker.
I think we are starting to see a new ship wreck called CNN Center.
If there was an FCC rule for mismanaging networks, there ought to be a law barring these morons from serving at networks for good. The free market would let them repeat history and expect (to not) learn from it.
