The Ann Curry Saga: Chapter XXIII
Radar Online’s Jen Jeger writes about the AnnCurryNBCCNN mess….
NBC is insisting that Ann stay off the air for six months in exchange for releasing he from her contract, Radar has learned. The term is unacceptable to the popular journalist, who wants to join CNN as soon as possible.
Well, too bad. NBC is in the driver’s seat. They can set the terms however they wish and there’s not much Curry can do about it.

I gotta agree with spud here. Non compete clauses are pretty standard in these situations and six months seems pretty reasonable to me.

Hell, hasn’t she already been off air for six months?
That being said, 6 months doesn’t really seem like that big a deal. Sounds like they are still negotiating so this leak could just be Curry’s way of adding a little pressure. Besides, even if she joined CNN today, it will take time to hire staff, develop a show, have some rehearsals, etc… That alone will eat into a big chunk of six months. The bigger story here is that she is getting out of the contract and she is going to CNN – not much debate about that now. All contracts are negotiable.

Didn’t she turn down a lot of money to write a tell all book about Today? You’d think NBC would just let her go.

6 months isn’t bad, I would love a million dollar 6 month vacation. Everything’s kind of in the cards, CNN gets a better talent, and she gets another job.
