Hackers vs. O’Reilly?

G4’s Stephen Johnson writes about hackers looking for some payback against Bill O’Reilly…

We hear on the internet underground that hackers and/or script-kiddies have declared an internet war against Fox News and columnist Bill O’Reilly and plan a cyber-assault for later today. Reportedly, parts of O’Reilly’s site have already been compromised. This is serious business, no doubt.

To get to the bottom of the issue, we spoke to an insider, a frequent poster at Detructoid’s forum as well as a certain well known online support group for young-adult agoraphobics where these things are planned and executed. He prefers to remain anonymous.

(We starred-out the names of internet sites because, apparently, they don’t like to be noticed.)

G4: What are the plans for the attack on Bill O’Reilly/ Fox News?

Anonymous Guy: As far as I know, all that was planned was DDoS attacks against Bill’s site and/or Fox News’s site at around 5 PM today Eastern Standard Time. This information was posted publicly on many threads over the past few days, so it’s not like this was a widely kept secret. As of right now it looks like some people may have started doing DDoS attacks already though, so either that time got bumped, or people are just posting others’ IPs on 4*** in hopes /*/ will attack other people.

  1. This is just dumb stuff. Stop already.

  2. This is nonsense. O’Reilly’s site has not been compromised, it is not slow loading nor is FoxNews.com. These guys are just young punks unable to make a decent argument in the real political world so they must result to false threats. Pretty lame.

  3. This might explain why I had difficulty accessing the Radio Factor Flash page on the site. As a premium member, I hope my personal information wasn’t hacked.

  4. Yes, the website has been comprimised. quite some time ago.

  5. O’Reilly and fox news are nothing but trash. i say fair game to any harm-doers. Hacking their site is the least we can do as americans against a biased and corrupt news organization.

  6. Right…. And I’m sure MSNBC plays it right down the middle. They’re completely fair to both sides. No biases at all on Matthews, Olbermann’s nor Maddow’s shows.

  7. Just can’t make sense of why hackers and bleeding liberals see it as a threat when both sides of an issue are brought to the table. Why is that scary to them? My guess is, it exposes the truth and they see the truth as a threat. If your agenda is afraid of facts and truths, something has to be wrong with the motive behind it. Maybe that’s it, they are afraid their motive will be exposed. O’Reilly states facts and that’s what he brings to the table. If you are not willing to hear basic facts about a certain issue without getting defensive, then others have no other alternative but to see your “victim lash-back attitude” as just that. Bottom line is, you just can’t handle the truth so you go after character.
