Roger Ailes Interview…

The Chicago Tribune’s Phil Rosenthal interviews Roger Ailes…

When it comes to Fox News, he insists viewers know what they’re getting and are better at separating the opinion from reporting than critics complain.

“People who watch news are pretty smart. Most of them don’t just go to one channel for all their news anyway,” Ailes said. Most people “will select the place that’s the most comfortable, and they will retain the information they’re the most comfortable with. But undecideds, people who are smart, tend to float around, look, listen. … They’re very perceptive.”

The Washington Post recently reported on a schism within Fox News, indicating there are some journalists there who worry that Beck’s theatrics compromise their work. Ailes sought to remind his staff that they’re “living pretty well because the ratings are high.”

As for the idea that Fox News has contributed to polarizing politics in this country, made opposing sides more deeply entrenched, Ailes acknowledges there used to be more give and take. “But look at what the country is being presented with right now,” he said. “You’re either in favor of increasing the national debt and government takeover and so on, or not. There’s not a lot of gray in there.”

That statement says a lot about Ailes and the integrity of FNC employees.

  2. At least he’s honest about being a partisan hack.

When I saw the recent poll showing that most GOPers think Obama is a socialist, or a muslim etc… I wondered where do these people get their ideas? Then I remembered FNC is the number 1 cable news outlet.
