Branding Run Amok: Example 1,003
From an emailer…
In the 2pm hour FBN actually wasted time covering a stuck county fair ride in Miami-Dade. What does this have to do with business news? The story was already being covered by FNC, CNN, and MSNBC from the same WSVN chopper feed.
Indeed.

It’s not enough that ”news channels” cover stuff like this. What are we waiting for? The ferris wheel to fall down? Riders falling from the sky? Twisters on the horizon??

-Twisters on the horizon-
Did anybody check to see if The Weather Channel covered the stuck roundy-go-round or whatever it was?

— The Weather Channel —
Oh, that would have been purrfect. A veritable hat trick of useless information.

I can hear FBN’s anonymous PR hacks spinning one up that goes a little something like this:
Think of how much money “the fair” lost while this ride was out of service! Besides, the liberals at CNBC/Bloomberg are anti-fair.

I love J$’s headline – Carnival Crisis Coverage. Link to Mediaite.

fbn lost its branding when it hired imus. it’s clear that ailes just wants fbn to be another fnc. everything but business news.

They do a lot of biz news during the day, harry. I have no idea what you’re talking about.
I’m pretty sure Cheryl Casone didn’t just travel to Syria for the heck of it. Charlie Gasparino wasn’t given a seven figure salary for fun, was he?
That’s what I thought.

if Gasparino is getting a 7 figure deal then newscorp shareholders should take a closer look at the fbn books. that place is only alive because of fnc thrives. fbn is a joke. are they going to give some pr release about the business hours being from 9-4 and that the rest is opinion?
